Waw that's great Hilda I've always wanted to try the craft that you show but never could😂 it's so simple this is great for plants amazing I love this ❤️ love you and success Allah blessed you my Hilda ❤️💕 🇮🇩
Thanks Hilda for sharing the creative ideas. One question though why have you used the masking tape. I was expecting to remove it and make a black vertical stripe on it.
I used the masking tape for this part video to show the difference. In the 1st case, if we directly use paint, the color does not pop up. And in the 2nd case, if we use white acrylic as base ( can use white gesso as well) then the color pops up.
You will have to use varnish on the pots after you finish painting. Rule of varnish is that you let the paint dry very well. Leave it for a week. Then use varnish. Give a coat. Let it dry. Then another coat. You can give 3 coats giving each coat time to dry very well in between. But still, if the weather is too hot or too cold or rainy, the pots will do wear out with time. And be careful while u water the plants. Don't let the water overflow in the pots.
Thank you so much for that brilliant idea! I have some plastic pots I wanted to paint, but was told it would be very difficult to paint; as you so clearly demonstrated in your first example. Now I know it can easily be done thanks to your technique. You mentioned that the pot could only be used as a planter, so I guess again according to climate. There is a product from America I suggest you try called 'MOD PODGE MATTE SEALER GLUE AND FINISH' so as the name suggests, it seals the paint down. As it has a matte finish, you can also buy the 'MOD PODGE HIGH GLOSS FINISH' this should allow for more wear and tear.
Can you share which colors and technique is best for water and weather resistant painting? Plastic planters for outdoor use with regular exposure to water, sunshine wind etc
Yes. It will surely leave a lovely metallic look😍. Give time for the base coat to dry very well. And do 2 coats of metallic color of your choice, giving time in between for each coat to dry very well.
You can apply a golden acrylic on the pot first. Use white as base before applying golden color so the gold colour will really pop out. Let it dry very well. Then use the varnish.
You can also color the pot black. Allow it to dry very well. Then use gold lightly to get an antique look. To know how to lightly paint gold on black.. you can check my video on 'How to write love with tissue paper'... I have shown how to lightly use gold on black there. Once dry, u can apply Varnish. ua-cam.com/video/HZbp3a8qB18/v-deo.html
Use a sponge to paint with acrylic paint..and when the 1st coat is absolutely dry, then give another coat. And before you paint, make sure the surface is clean. If it's a pot, then clean the pot very well. Other way, you can use gesso as a primer. And once it is absolutely dry, then you can use any acrylic color of your choice. To see how to make homemade gesso, you can watch my video. ua-cam.com/video/VorK-LwkAUU/v-deo.html You can use enamel paint as well. But you will need turpentine oil to clean your brush or your brush will become hard. And it has a very strong smell. You can use chalk paint as well. You can buy or make at home. This will give you a nice matte look. But keep in mind to let the 1st coat dry very well before you put the 2nd coat ua-cam.com/video/0wAl9y39AB4/v-deo.html
Avoid water on it and keep it indoors. You can use Modge Podge Fevicryl gloss on it after the paint is very well dried. Or you can use a varish spray on it after the paint is well dried. Link for both these items are in the description box.
Acrylic is good. I tried with poster once, didn't quite get the finish. I'll suggest to go for acrylic. And if I may add here, you can watch my other video on plastic pot painting to give it a vintage look. ua-cam.com/video/0wAl9y39AB4/v-deo.html
@@HILDACRAFTY I used brush. Its peeling off. I kept more than a day to dry I felt oily on the surface.more than 4 bottles of acrylic got wasted.even pot also
Ohk. 1) Then your pot must be having a very smooth layer outside. You can sand it from outside a bit so that the paint gets a grip. 2) Use a sponge to paint as shown. 3) let the 1st coat dry very very well before you go for a 2nd coat. You can leave for a day or two ( depending on the weather) Hope this helps😊
Yes. If the color you have is light and you are applying on a black nursery pot, then give 2 or 3 coats, allowing to dry very well in between coats. When absolutely dry, use a varnish to seal the paint.
I just read your message again. It said WALL emulsion. I thought it was emulsion paint. I have not tried wall emulsion on a plastic pot before. But I think, you will need to prime the surface first. Do let me know how it comes out😊

Yes. You can. But you will have to apply a primer before painting with oil paint for a long stay . And since the paint is thin, apply less on the brush or it will flow. U can go for 2 or 3 coats for the final look. But clean the surface of the pot before painting and u need to rub the pot with a sand paper for grip. Last, when the paint dries very well, apply Varnish. may I also add that you will need turpentine oil to clean your brush or it will become hard and got to waste. Hope this helps. You can even try chalk paint on the pots for a lovely Matt finish. You can make it at home. You can watch my video on this if it interests you. Direct sunlight. Yes. But not in indirect sunlight. You can use Fevicryl Modge Podge gloss or varnish spray on top. Or Itsy Bitsy's varnish gloss or matte. I have mentioned this in the description box below and given links.
Use varnish. I have mentioned it in the description box. Try to avoid keeping it in the rain. Keep the pot under some roof for a longer varnish effect.
Once the paint dries very well, you can use Modge Podge Fevicryl gloss. Or Itsy Bitsy's matt or gloss finish varnish. Or varnish spray on it for a longer stay. You can find the link for these items in the description box. Do keep the pot indoors and avoid too much water on it even after you varnish for a longer stay.
Yes you can use. If you can make a hole beneath the bottle, will be good. And if the bottle has a big mouth, should be good too for the plant. Give 2 coats of varnish, giving time to let the 1st coat of varnish dry very well. And place the pot under some roof and not in the open so the paint lasts longer😊

Sponge over brush technique is very good. Will that work even on walls?. Thanks a lot for sharing wonderful information, Madam.
For walls, you get a sponge roller. That is good and helps in quick application😊 and leaves a nice texture on the wall
Lovely. But what if I want a smooth surface?
You will get a smooth finish. You mean to say after using a sponge. Yes, you will. Let the paint dry very well. And then varnish
I have been working on the plastic jewelry project. Many times I tried but each time turned out with brush strikes. Thank you for the tips.

Can we slide the sponge instead of dabbing ? If doing , then will it cause lines to appear ?
When we use the sponge in a dab dab movement, it gives a lovely texture. Sliding the sponge with paint will leave lines.
