Its so clear in these performances how rigidly she adheres to the principles and discipline of 'bel canto'. Not just in her technique, but in her presentation. Note that she doesn't move so much as a finger; just a slight movement of her head and those her extraordinarily beautiful eyes. And you cannot take your eyes off her for a second. Not quite: this concert was in late September 2021; the cancer diagnosis was given to her at the end of January 2022 (just over four months later) but she did not get married until June 2023. To honor Patricia's memory, I would like to see the major symphonic orchestras of Slovakia and the Czech Republic join forces for a memorial concert featuring the 'Dies Irae' from Berlioz's "Requiem" and the "Pomp and Circumstance March No. 1 in D Major" by Sir Edward Elgar.

Its so clear in these performances how rigidly she adheres to the principles and discipline of 'bel canto'. Not just in her technique, but in her presentation. Note that she doesn't move so much as a finger; just a slight movement of her head and those her extraordinarily beautiful eyes. And you cannot take your eyes off her for a second. Talk about 'stage presence'!

😢Patricia got married 6 months after this video, then 7 months later dies of cancer.😢
Not quite: this concert was in late September 2021; the cancer diagnosis was given to her at the end of January 2022 (just over four months later) but she did not get married until June 2023. I think she had some hope then of having beaten the cancer, being temporarily in remission, but it returned with renewed malignancy shortly afterwards, and she died on 1 October 2023. She would no doubt have been warned from the start that the prognosis for her was poor, albeit uncertain, but fought to make the most of whatever time she had left. 💔
