First, a word of appreciation. Of all the puzzle channels I follow, I find that yours has the best puzzle brand reviews. Your reviews are detailed and complete. They provided me with all the information I need when I want to buy a puzzle from a brand I have never tried before. Thanks for all the time and effort you put into them. My personal experience with Gibsons has not been as positive as yours. Earlier this year I bought three Gibsons puzzles from my local hobby shop. The first one was named Jellyfish, the second one was a 4x500 bundle called The Gardener’s Round and the last one was a panoramic called Duckling Farm. All three had a few damaged pieces from the factory but the last two had a serious delaminating cardboard problem which resulted in about 5 to 10% of the pieces either already splayed or that could easily get splayed during the puzzling. Since we redo our puzzles a few times before passing them on, I took the time to fix all the damaged pieces before I did the puzzles and had to repeat the process again after I took them apart as more pieces had started to splay despite being very careful with it. The other things I don’t particularly like is that the puzzles I got don’t lay flat. Hard to explain but they are kind of bumpy where the nobs are even if you push them down. It’s not so much an issue for me as I don’t glue my puzzles but I would find it annoying if I did. As fas as I am concerned, I’d rather have slightly thinner pieces that click together well but are not too hard to take apart as I like to keep my puzzles in pristine condition regardless of the number of times they have been assembled. I will give Gibsons another shot sometime late fall and get one of their newer releases. Hopefully they won’t have the same issues.
Thank you so much for saying so, I really appreciate it! And it makes me happy knowing that people are not only enjoying my videos but finding them useful too. 😊💖 Oh no! That sounds so disappointing and frustrating! That's a real pity that you had such a bad experience with them. 😓 I can handle a few slightly damaged pieces here and there as that tends to occur with most puzzle brands. But it almost sounds like something got really messed up during manufacturing with those last two puzzles. I'm also a bit surprised that they didn't pick it up during quality checking which is somewhat concerning. 🤔 I'm not too sure about the not laying flat/bumpiness issue. I can't say for certain if the 1000 piece was like that, if it was it was definitely pretty subtle for me. However I do recall the 500 piece being very flat though. Also, when taking both puzzles apart, the 500 piece came apart very easily (due to the looser piece fit) than the 1000 piece. I did have to do a little bit of 'wiggling' with some pieces to get some of the 1000 piece one apart. 😅 I hope your next experience with the brand is much more positive and that they've addressed these issues. I think if you do come across any more issues with them it could be worthwhile to get in touch with them and let them know, at the very least so they can be aware that there are quality issues occurring.
Love the bonus puzzle at the end, Jubie! 😃👏💛 Nice haul. 🧩🛒🛍 I liked the different images and shapes. Glad the new puzzle was one of the options you chose to put together. The colours appealed to me as well. And the subject matter meows for itself. 🐈 🌼 🐾🌹 😻 🌸🐈⬛ 🌻😺 Also happy that you did a video taking a look at Gibsons. I've seen the brand name come up, but really didn't know much about them. I'm going to slap them on my increasingly long wish.😃😒😬🤷♀️ Thanks for another enjoyable video, Jubie! 🙏 👌 🎥 💖💜
He he! Thought I'd sneak it in - I couldn't resist doing that one! 😆 Glad you liked my haul. 😀 Yes, I think I made the purr-fect choice doing that cat puzzle! 😹 Are Gibsons easy to get where you are (in stores/online) or do you need to order direct from their website? Also, definitely worth adding to the wish list. I think a wish list can be infinitely long... a puzzle to-do list however...😅
@@JigsawJubie Hahaha, my wish list and my to-do list are both very long! 🤷♀️😁 And, as it turns out, Gibsons being on my wish list can very easily jump over to the to-do, as I have access to a whole bunch of Gibsons puzzles. Just recently started shopping from an online store here in Canada, recommended by someone on puzzlegram 🙃, that has a ton of terrific puzzle brands. 😍🧩
Ha ha! Yes, those sneaky wish list items will definitely try and make their way over to your to-do list if you're not careful! 😂 Apart from the dangers of buying too many puzzles, that's great that you have a local place to buy lots of puzzle brands from. 🙂
As always it’s great watching you. The colors on both pieces are beautiful I can’t wait to see what you do next. I really liked your sorting trays what brand are they. Oh!! Don’t forget to to look out for me traveling to see you. Ha!Ha! As always Thanks till next time. Kathy E.
Glad you enjoyed this video! The Gibsons puzzles really are beautiful, aren't they?! 😀 The sorting trays are from the brand Grateful House - they are on Amazon and have a website: gratefulhouse.com
Hi jubie, love your work.. I’m trying to find the puzzles you have there but cannot seem to see them on various Gibson sites. I see the older ones but can’t find those newer vibrant ones
I think most are still available on the Gibsons website (gibsonsgames.co.uk/collections/all-puzzles) which is where I ended up ordering this haul from. Some of the puzzles were discounted/on sale plus buying a whole heap made it worth the cost of shipping. 🙂 If you're in Australia (I'm sorry, I can't recall if you've previously mentioned this) some of the Australian online stores like Jigsaw Store usually have a fair few Gibsons puzzles but they're a bit low in stock at the moment plus don't have any of the brand new designs - hopefully they might get them soon. 🤞
Gibsons "I love" series is very challenging and fun (I Love Car Boot sales, I love weddings and I love the different seasons. Plus the comical Heye puzzles, Jan Van Haasteren, my favorite, Ravenburger "Crazy Cats" series and the comic character puzzles from Piatnik. Have you tried any of these puzzles?
I haven't tried any of the 'I love' series from Gibsons - just the ones you see in this video mainly. They sound interesting though! Especially if they're more challenging. 😀 I haven't tried any of those comic character ones - I'm a bit hard to please when it comes to comic style images! 😅 Although the 'Crazy Cats' one from Ravensburger is quite cute and fun looking! 😊
I'm seriously addicted to Jan Van Haasteren. I have about forty, I love finding the faces and body parts and comical scenes. Doing a Piatnik now but the fit is very loose, can't move pieces easily. I just finished one of the crazy cats and ordered all of them. Love Gibsons cat puzzles artist Linda Jane Smith, ordered all except 500 pcs.
I've never tried any puzzles from Piatnik, we don't seem to have many available here. But I'll have to give them a go one day - not in a hurry though if they have loose pieces! 😅 Ha ha! Sounds like you're a true crazy cats fan! 😸
Hi jubie, really love your channel. Thank you for posting. I'm wondering where you get the white sorting trays from? They are white and large size which is what i have trying to find..
Thank you, so glad you're enjoying my videos ☺️ These ones are from the brand Grateful House. It looks like they're unfortunately out of stock on their website at the moment though 😢
I have a few Gibsons' puzzles on my wishlist--nice to see they are good quality. Unrelated, but what is the puzzle behind you next to the pineapple? I need that one in my life...
That puzzle behind me is from the brand Pico Olo (picoolo.com/) who are a Malaysian puzzle brand. They make some really colourful, fun puzzles and their puzzles are made from this semi-soft plastic - it's a really cool puzzling experience! Anyway, this particular one was a one-off prototype but I think they've released the same or similar design in a larger piece count. 😀
Another Aussie here...I'm thinking of getting into puzzling....until I do I'm enjoying other doing them....I did buy one from Target just because of free delivery when you spend $45 😊
Hey jubie, fellow aussie here , I'm new to following your channel- also super new to puzzles...I'm been obsessively hunting puzzles bands and sites but I'm still only stuck doing my first one which is only 500 pieces from kmart and I'm terrible at it 😭😭 I'm not sure if it's me or the puzzle I picked...do you have newbie recommendations?
Hi! Thank you so much for subscribing! I hope you're enjoying my videos! 😊💖 That's super exciting that you're trying out puzzling - there's a lot of fun puzzles out there! 😀 There's also some rather tough and infuriating ones too! 😅 But don't stress too much, even if 500 pieces sounds like a small piece count it can still be quite difficult just depending on what the design is, the reverse is also true for larger piece counts - I've definitely done some really easy 1000 pieces too. I usually find puzzle designs that have very distinct sections (colours/patterns) can be easier to do than something with lots of tiny details and things going on. Also, bright, more colourful puzzles are generally easier than something with lots of dark areas or a dark background. Another puzzle type that is (usually) quite fun and simple to put together is a rainbow gradient - like the ones behind me. If you like, you can always let me know which ones you bought from Kmart so I can see what they're like. 🙂
@@JigsawJubie thank you for the advice. The puzzle I'm currently doing is on of my parents old Kodacolor puzzles (No clue if they make puzzles still). What is making it a challenge is all the piece shapes are the same. I'm so close to finishing I just have a a few floral parts and dark parts.
I believe Cra-Z-art (now RoseArt) brand also produce some Kodak puzzles these days. 🙂 You bring up another good point too which I forgot to mention - piece shape! So the less varied the piece shapes are can also make a puzzle more tricky to do, sometimes meaning it will have 'false fitting' pieces. Hopefully the rest of your puzzle goes smoothly. 😀 Do you know what puzzle you'll do next?
Omg I accidentally pressed the dislike button. I meant to press the like button. I’m sorry. I LOVE your videos and the fact your a fellow Aussie puzzler 😊
