Thank you so much for uploading this. This topic has never been addressed, ever, since the song was released in 1986. What a revealing nugget of information. Truly amazing.
Too bad He is full of shit. His story. Uh, no. Desmond Child wrote the song and has publicly discussed it and wrote a book.
@@mg-ThisHandleIsSoStupid true story
Even though Howie's daughter is of mature age, I really wish they would show respect around her and stop it with the sexual innuendos, I mean for crying out loud Howie, that's your freakin daughter!!!
Anyway.....with regards to what Richie said, the part of Prayer I love besides the obvious anthem sound of the chorus, is the sole lyric: 🎵 TAKE MY HAND AND WE'LL MAKE IT I SWEAR!! 🎵
It's almost like an angst battle cry for you and your partner that: HEY, REGARDLESS OF HOW THINGS GO, WERE GONNA FREAKIN MAKE IT, CRITICS AND THE WORLD BE DAMNED.
That lyric, blended with Jon's vocal emotional release (especially in the key change) just hits my soul and heart so hard, and now its a declaration I make with me and my wife of 17 years!
Hearing that song and the above mentioned lyric just takes me back to that 16 year old kid hearing it for the first time on MTV when I was in 8th grade.
This is why I am so thankful to have grown up during the 80s bc like most fellow Gen Xers, I LIVED WITH THESE SONGS when they came out!
The 80s were all about anthem type songs, where not necessarily the lyrics were anthems, but the big sound of the song:
Pour Some Sugar on Me
Livin on a Prayer
Nothing but a Good Time
Dr. Feelgood
Jack n Diane
Footloose
Top Gun
Don't Stop Believing
and the list goes on and on
My Generation lived these songs when they came out, and that's why we cherish them so mput,
They are ALL the soundtracks of our youth!
Interesting. I hear JBJ announce on stage that the song was about a semi-sports professional friend of his on the edge of going pro, ran into complications and so worked the docks to make ends meet. Names were changed to protect his identity.
I guess it really is everybody's song...
The only difference is I have no sponsors ever since I graduated from AA 😏
Love Howie and Jackelyn but man that other old dude is so annoying, you don't need 3 hosts. I am hesitant to watch and listen when he's there.
Yes agreed ! Adding absolutely nothing . I think he was a comedian at one time.
@@JamesKenneally-le1zd never heard of him, but you are spot on "adding absolutely nothing" 🤪
@JamesKenneally-le1zd he did a good job following up to richie's points. He spoken more than Jacquelyn or Jackelyn this video.
@@ZechariahCameronMoi cause he always talks over Howie and Jackelyn and gets off-subject.
I just wish they'd show some respect around Howie's daughter (including Howie) to knock it off with the sexual innuendos. Show some class and respect for crying out loud. I know their all die hard liberals, but damn....that's someone's daughter!
Chat ❤❤❤
Guys lost it Desmond child wrote these characters not Richie
desmond only had the idea of a story in a song he's done that on many artists songs after bon jovi. so Richie could have come up with the names he is one of the co-writers.
@ no he has the idea for the characters to I just watched it
@@pauljovi8209 Desmond prob talks shit he did also give some wrong info about kiss the elder album on a new interivew
@ and Richie doesn't with his talk about coming back to Bon Jovi for the last 5 years or so and all the other stuff when he's wasted
@@pauljovi8209 yeah i hope not Richie is no worth to them anymore, bon jovi should retire as a band anyways. love most of their albums but the last 2 was shit.
