Didn’t know there was an opener for Alison Krauss/Robert Plant last night but it turned out to be this cat. First thought was “Come on, I didn’t come to see this guy…” and then he blew the roof off the place! What a great show and wonderful surprise!
It's 7 years down the road and JD is touring as lead guitar with Alison Krauss and Robert Plant. Wonder if he saw this when he was teaching computing tech. back in school. And of course he has a Strat. though I love that old age he grinds when performing with Krauss and Plant. Great stuff and a rock-a-billy legend seventy years after the music. He'd have been right at home driving his "Chevy to a levee" with Elvis or Chuck or Carl or Roy on the AM radio.
JD's the best man! Very cool. Has an old vibe but with a fresh twist. I love it. The piano! Distortion bass! Tremolo guitar.......awesome......claps.......oh man...this has a great vibe.
When I heard this, my first thought was...reminds me so much of Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs - Wooly Bully (1965). Yep, old school rock n' roll and I'm showing my age...
Or 96 Tears by Question Mark & the Mysterians. I get the vibe of late 50's soul rock n roll & the early 60's style rock n roll (and I'm only 40 but it's what I grew up with from my mom's taste in music). Hell, I thought he was a black man till I finally saw the vid for Lucky Penny today (local radio station's been playing it & totally dig it). A rare style of music now days but glad to see there are others out there keeping it alive.
The peak 107.1, if your in the New York tri state area, this station plays great music like this. Great band, has a 50's style ring to it. Thanks Peak for playing it!!
Fantastic job at Glastonbury. I saw a clip of yall playing at Glastonbury, searched your song on UA-cam and find this. You have a new fan. Hopefully more music like this will reach the radio waves...
Jimmy Sutton best bass player ever, I'm addicted to this band, can't stop listening to it and am only 13. Great songs, great rythms, great sound. Gotta love the doghouse!!!!!! Big fan, keep it up!!!!
Jan-anne Kloosterboer . Check out Brian setzer . He and the stray cats have a rebirth to this sort of rockabilly sound in the 80's and these guys are doing the same.
Some of you have commented on what kind of music this sounds most like ("this is rock", "bleeding 50s and 60s"). To me, fond of rock, disco, and EDM, it sounds prefect for a mid-tempo country line dance. I do enjoy the rock instrumentation-what a combo (the blend of musical influences AND the band!
It was the performance on Letterman that first had me listening to JD's music. Bought the Signs and Signifiers album a few days later and I keep coming back for more. Never give it up JD.
Again thank JD and the whole band for holding this Old music style alive and that you do it with great feeling and energy. Together you can reach a level where few other bands reach so I can only say again BIG thanks to all in the band ... /// From Sweden .
Basically two chords played over and over: Gmaj and A#maj. Bass solo seems same, but don't know for sure. Simply an awesome song ! Simplicity at its best!
I must admit that so far I have not been acquainted with the work and opus of Mr. McPherson, but I am pleasantly surprised and sure that from now on I will follow him and listen to him regularly. Great sound, performance, production, Extraordinary!

Sounds to me like a slightly downtempo version of C'mon Ev'rybody by Eddie Cochran. Give it a listen-you'll get it.
Ah, it's still worth hanging around planet Earth.
Fuck yeah! Also study fungus.
This is a fantastic comment. Even in 2020. Thank you

Just heard this on Mararitaville. Great tune!
I just heard it today for the first time on 88.5 KCSN here in LA which brought me to your video.
Old School roller skating, a teenagers rite of passage back in the day. Cool video.
One of the best songs
all righty then. that was definitely worthy, and I shall look into this rock revivalist fellow.
There still exists, good music...i'm so happy
Like this more r&b/soul flavoured sound better than the more rockabilly stuff I heard before. Great band and the guy sure has a voice.
