Released as a single in 1968 as the B side to Lady Madonna, this song reflected the growing influence of Indian classical music and spirituality in Harrison's music and consciousness. It also marked the Beatles' engagement with transcendental meditation at Maharishi Maheshyogi's Ashram at Rishikesh.
In this cover version, the guitar is tuned to an open C to somewhat simulate the sound of a Sitar.
Ps - Although I realize that World Music Day was celebrated a few days ago, this song would be the one I would dedicate to the event.
