Holly is awesome, she was raised on a sailboat, worked as crew on Antartica supply ships, one thing with her channel is different because you don’t see cry face, she always has a beaming big smile and only tasteful bikini shots, she lives life to the fullest, not for the camera or the sponsor, go the Gecko
I would like to see her get a ton of sponsors
@@ChasingLatitudes rolly tasker sails has hooked her up with sails

We all know it, the sad truth is, like in all things, the profitable sailing channels have sex appeal. La Vagabonde made it big fast because of sex appeal, two good looking young people sailing the world.
Even Delos used it before it turned into what it is today (family sailing), and you can pick any number of channels that went BIG because of T&A.
Some are more obvious, and in some ways more HONEST about it like Sailing Doodles and Lazy Gecko (they even did straight up porn that's out there) some are less so.
But Bikinis can make a channel. There are lots of really good channels out there that never made it HUGE because they lacked sex appeal. The financial success of UA-cam sailing channels is their ability to sell a fantasy, and sex appeal is often part of it.
If your intention is to make a profitable sailing channel it's a hell of a lot easier to do it with boobies and nice behinds.
@@Edmund_Mallory_Hardgrove this is the best response
Love her channel
That chick has some huge ballz
Windhippie has accomplished some incredible sailing feats! Her boat might be considered a 'heap of crap' by some, but that hasn't stopped her from overcoming challenges and completing amazing voyages! Go, Wind Hippe!
@@sentenced2sail she's doing great
I love her channel. There’s a 50 yr old lady sailing around the world in the same boat. Her channel is Solo Sailing Around the World
@@DefaultUser61 nice
Thanks, looks good.
yes saw her, is a Dutch lady: channel is called: sailing loveworkx on YT..
Get a job
@@JohnTruelove-me2jm who ?
This is a cool channel. It shows that its not about the equipment or having money. Lots of keyboard warriors like to tell you what can or cant be done in life and what you need to have in order to do X activity or go to Y destination. Truth is... doing things is more about motivation, perseverance, skill, and willpower than the tool. Does the right tool make the job easier? Sure does but that doesnt mean its the only way or the best way.
She is doing great
Holly is a complete rock star. For a while she did not have an engine and sailed on to docks. How she is not more loved I have no idea.
Sam Holmes Sailing or Erik Aanderra NBJS
I love the Alluring Arctic Sailing guys as well, great voyages, nice boat.
@@SVEXCALIBUR will do
@@sentenced2sail got it
@@sentenced2sail i was going to suggest them.
We like wind hippie sailing , she's one of the best out there , and doing a real sailing journey of a lifetime 😀
@@Foxtrottangoabc she's great
I have watched her pretty gritty
yes
would like to hear your thoughts on- Adventures of an old sea dog- & his steel boat
I will take a look
Holly is the real deal! She was raised on a sail boat so it's great to watch her do things on instinct that would take a regular person a day to figure out.
@@1crustyoldmsgtretired870 she's great
I love Windhippie, I think she's cute, has a great personality, and good head on her shoulders. She's honest, determined, and hard working. She's a genuine sailor. She reminds me of Aubrey Plaza. If you want the fantasy of sailing the world on shoestring budget, she's giving the real deal of what that looks like.
@@Edmund_Mallory_Hardgrove she's doing great
She's also a heck of a sailor.
What about reviewing Sailing Brothers and their Rival 34. I love these guys and Wind Hippie. It's back to basics sailing. Not the Baysian but that's a good thing right?
I will take a look
Holly is awesome I've been watching her for years
@@monsterhog1118 fantastic
I know what you are going to say about Holly's Gecko. It's a TRASH boat. I would never buy this but look how far she managed to get. I say GOOD FOR HER!
Have you ever read "Dove"? Robin had a tiny 24' sloop for much of his journey.
Hers is a story of sheer will and perseverance. Mad respect.
@@rickkwitkoski1976 I think she is doing amazing
Dove had no refrigeration, or much of an engine either. Both lack dishwashers and airconditioning.
I've been following Windhippie for a couple of years.
Take a look at Rover's Adventure (Wave Rover). He designed and built his latest boat in his garage and is headed around the world. He explains why he chose a junk rig.
I will take a look
You did my request! You do love me 😍 lol, Thanks Chris, she is freaking awesome and her family and history are super cool too.
🥰
@@ChasingLatitudes you win, I joined your Patreon and discord. Lots more on discord than I was expecting. Thanks for doing all this.
@@Docsimple awe, thank you so much
She calls it Gecko sailing, because that is the name of her Boat is "Gecko".
I love Wind Hippie! She is proof that a trashcan can cross oceans. But she is extraordinary. A normal human being would not be able to do what she does.
She is great
@@ChasingLatitudes how about my boy Sean Holmes Sailing? He's going around the world in a trashcan with a constant smile on his face.
Yeah, Holly's awesome
Gotta admire someone sailing the world in what is basically a day sailor. Or question her sanity
@@CaptRR she's awesome
research her family. She was born on a small, I think 28', boat that her family was circumnavigating the world in. Amazing story, amazing people. Sailing Tritea interviews her and separately her parents to talk about all this wild behavior. It's absolutely inspiring!
Hi, I watch all your videos and share your channel to everyone I can. I just thought of another interesting series: Best X foot sale boat. "Best 32 foot sale boat", etc...
I, personally, would love to see you slowly go up in feet and analyze some of the top choices within a certain length of boat. I am planning on buying a boat and I find myself cycling between 2-4 models of similar boats within the same lengths and I can't seem to choose. For example, I constantly cycle between Hanse, Dufour, Jeanneau, Bene for the 34-35 ft boat.
Anyway, love your videos. You probably won't see this comment but a sailor has got to try. Thank you for the amazing content!
Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment, I will for sure do a series just like that for you
Ibought a Wind Hippie sticker. That helps!
lol but no chasing latitudes sticker ? rude !
That boat is interesting short and fat and getting it done with a hand tiller. Still hoping you do Teulu tribe since I love the boat layout and it is insanely heavy for a glass boat British over building at its finest.
I will take a look,
PBS did a long story on her family. She was a kid. Her sister was born between Bermuda and Iceland. Holly cut the cord. sorry, behind paywall.
@@CaptHudson hmm
Can you do a video on Ran Sailing. Currently building boat no.3.
number three? sheesh

As a 1981 Sabre 34 owner since 2001, I'd love it if you did a review of ua-cam.com/users/calicoskiessailing Thanks!
You’re voice when you realized “I’m old enough to be her dad” 😂😂 happens to me all the time
If she were only 40 years older, I could go for her.
HAHAHAHAH, you caught that, it hit me like a ton of bricks, i was like oh man im old
We love Holly’s channel! She is doing things with that boat that are amazing! Her videos are so engaging and we love the way She explains everything. A very underrated channel - thanks for the review Chris 😊
She has done amazing with such a small boat. One of my favs is Sailing Dawn Hunter. More a travel than a sailing dawn hunter. I love the banter between a 78-year-old (my age) guy and his 33-year-old wife.
Okay, what's your opinion of Skip Novak's 77ft. Vinson? A real trash can, right? Ahahaha))) I mean, is it sea worthy?)
It takes a special kind of individual to sail the world on this kind of wee pocket cruiser. Holly’s boat really needs a new engine. And some other bits and pieces… 😅
@@Tetsaraku agree
She repowered in New Zealand.
@@O_Mahan Oh ok. Guess I missed that.
There is another lady sailing a Grinde sailboat because windhippie inspired her “Solo Sailing Around The World” is the channel name but her sailboat is in better shape
Alright let’s do Breaking Waves!
Too funny! I was going to suggest wind hippie as a joke!
She is from Maine, where everybody is nice, even in the long winter.
wow you said something good about a youtuber you are not that bad

This yt'er is one of the few who deserve to have good things said about her.
This series is more about the boats, not the channels or the youtubers.
She has a very fast yacht and she is superb sailor!
sailing EV a canadian sailing channel
Gone with the wynns
Those are the best. Great production.

You're back good deal.
What about sailing operation drenched. It's a not for profit with a revolving crew on like a 75ft dumbster.... would love to see a review on that
You have to keep in mind I dont watch sailing channels , so if you've got good recommendations let know
Absolutely love Holly. THE best sailing channel. Period.
Awesome
See these up for sale regular here in Scandinavia, prices vary between 7k and 15k US$. Only reason I've noticed is because I watch Hollies channel.
Girl has talent and balls of steel.
Have a look at "How to sail oceans".
31ft, no engine, gaff rig and equally as basic. He did the atlantic loop in it.
@@Mr_G_in_Alba interesting
You have not done Uma have you? BEAU and Brandy? I just found SV Crooked Anchor that would be an interesting video.
I did Uma, ots in the Playlist, did it just a few days ago
Absolutely badass channel, Holly was actually born on a sailboat, a 25' Catalina if I'm not mistaken, in New Zealand and has sailed tall ships in Antarctica so she's no rookie, her parents sailed in the Arctic on a steel 34' when she was younger, maybe 7 years old, her parents, particularly her dad is a very accomplished sailor and carpenter with a wealth of experience, Holly's channel is a proper sailing channel without all the bullshit and hype so many include, she is a REAL ocean sailor and the Grindè is a really good little boat
yes sir
Love her
She’s an amazing sailor with good Magyver skills and a great support network. She’s impressed a lot of serious sailors and deserves some attention.
agree
According to the specs her boat is smaller but faster than Sam's Cape Dory 28 or James's Alberg 30. Holly's pretty cool and has an amazing family.
agree
Two recommendations to review: 1. rigging doctor w2 boats-wisdom & wind puff a twofur, 2. And your ever favorite boat advisor lady k.
I cant stand either of those channels
I’ve watched Holly from the very beginning. I’ve no doubt she’ll make it back to Maine in that tub as she is incredibly resourceful and will have a go at repairing every inch of it, if she has to.
shes done great
Like her channel just like those two English brothers: "sailing brothers" on their old boat Atlas.
I will take a look
She is a diehard! It's one of those channels that you watch and almost smell at the same time. 😁
I dont follow any sailing channels
Look at Sailing with Thomas. He has a Bavaria 55 Cruiser

Can you talk about SV Zatara
@@doninone8531 yes
Lol. I watched a couple episodes last year or year before and she had a lot of trouble with that boat. I never expected her to make it all the way across the pacific but somehow she did it. She's had others on the boat since but she was pretty much on her own down to Panama. I think her sister joined her a few times and she's made friends along the way. If she makes it all the way around the globe I'll be shocked.
I wouldn't be.
I think she does it
Im going with "Dumpster Fire" before even seeing the video. Ill check back after
HAH
@@ChasingLatitudes It's like you actually know what your talking about. You don't need a tank from 1990 to sail around the world. This girl has some of the biggest balls I've ever seen. Maybe a little crazy.
It's amazing people are sure you need a 40ft Island Packet to go "blue water". When obviously a modern production boat is more than capable of taking you anywhere when properly equipped. Not to mention for a much better price and comfort level.
Another win for Chris. My sailing days are far off. I will get there. I'm glad I found your channel to help get me ready. It's a huge commitment, thanks again Chris
I love this mini-series! Hey can you do "Sailing Into Freedom" (original boat that sank plus the new build) and "Adventures Of An Old Seadog" pretty please? :D
And also "The Sailing Brothers" might be interesting pleeeeease!!
And "Erik Aanderra NBJS". Right...I'm done lol :)
Will do
I watch her from time to time. She is pretty basic. She doesn't have the views because she is out there sailing. Just like Triteia. He approach to he vessels is straight forward and no nonsense. I think that's why I watch her at all. Maybe do Nahoa, One Life, or Calico Skies
One LIfe is clearly learning. Getting better all the time. It's a pleasure to watch their skills progress.
@captainjimolchs I like their channel. But they are also pregnant now and it will be interesting to see if they continue
I've heard rumors, but not seen confirmation. Whether they do or don't, will be their decision. Whatever.
Can you please take a look at Sailing Liberty’s boat?
Sure
@@ChasingLatitudes it’s the ultimate money pit. They seem so happy to keep throwing money and time at it. Great bikini shots which we are all done with. They are a fun couple if a little naive. Their optimism is admirable.
I would be interested to see an interview with her.

@Docsimple Technically, it's a yacht. It's also a floating trash can, Technically 🤣😂
@@Lady.from.Nuku-Hiva @Lady.from.Nuku-Hiva i wasn't sure about your answer, so i had to go look. Pretty funny, there is o strict definition but it generally needs to have overnight quarters and be over 33-35 feet. Also, I love how much she loves her Gecko, I can't call it that! mena, I guess.... it kinda is but she is amazing, I only wish I had her sailing skills. I think I watched her do a passage using an iPhone and Iridium for weather updates.
