Just got this exact model for my first car. It's great value for the money and is perfect for first-time buyers and college students like myself. Deep inside, I wanted a Mazda, so I kinda got it. lol
@@sirflexinton Nice, it's a beautiful vehicle and very practical. I had a chance to buy 2020 IA when the pandemic first hit for 14k with 10 k miles on it. I regret not making that purchase seeing what they all cost now lol
another good video. glad to see you doing videos of all segment of cars. some other you tubers just review cars real people can't afford. at least u don't discriminate when it comes 2 cars, segments, and price
Ha! I knew there was a reason I liked this car so much! It's basically a re-badged Mazda! I got to sit in one of these cars at the Michigan International Auto show and it felt great! I'd love to have one of these if I had the money.
I'm looking into one of these to replace a totaled Scion xd. I LOVED that Scion, and alas they are no more. Looks like these make a pretty comparable alternative, tho.
Car says Scion. Says seats comfy. Well, going over a bad city street, the ride was really bumpy on my Yaris iA 2018. The salesman had me drive only on a pre-determined path before I bot. I think the tires are on the thin side; I suppose you could get a smaller rim & bigger tires to improve the smoothness of the ride.
Mazda makes some of the best cars out there. Sadly, brand loyalty is hard to break. Even though there reliability has surpassed Honda recently. This is a good move for them to make some business.
Gregory Kanniard Scion has a strong urban presence, Mazda has a great sub-compact, seems like a great partnership to me. No need to waste marketing dollars for Mazda, and no need to fund R&D for Toyota.
I was on my way to test drive a new TOYOTA Yarris iA. I changed my mind since I knew that the iA model is made by MAZDA!! I'm a TOYOTA guy, switching to MAZDA would be a downgrade for me.
Is that driver's seat height adjustable right? I test drove he Scion one about a year ago. It drove great! The brakes were nice and the A/C was nice as well!
I'd rather keep my Fiesta or get a Honda Fit over this car. The SkyActiv automatics are having more trouble than the PowerShift transmissions in the Fiesta and Focus. If you go over too many bad potholes and it's unavoidable, the transmission starts screwing up. Guess only time will tell with the Yaris iA.
Fit is often hard to get a good deal on. You can get pretty heavy discounts on the iA, and I think it is a little more fun. Better MPG, too. I am not so sure how well the Fiesta willdo with some years and miles. Time will tell. The stock motor seems reliable as long as it is a manual and not the automatic dual clutch.
IMHO the 6 forward gears is to increase gas mileage by always having the most efficient gear in use, but I donno about the multiple gaps where briefly no gear wud be in gear between shifts. I think 6 is too complicated.
Hello, Could you give me a link to buy the Navigation SD card for the Toyota Yaris IA 2018. Would like to purchase one for my daughter. The cost at the Toyota dealer is way too expensive. Thanks
Makes me wonder if Toyota just replaced the badges of the 2016 Scion IA with Toyota emblems and then TADAH!! 2017 toyota yaris IA. I went to my local dealer and I didn't see one 2016 Scion IA
Von Ace exactly what they did. lol i think people know what a toyota is, and it will sell more then a scion which is same thing but ppl dont know. my dad has the 2016 scion ia same thing.
Cameron, I absolutely love this car and test drove one yesterday, however, I wanted to ask you if you noticed that the windshield has distortion at the very bottom? It's almost like you're looking thru a magnifying glass. The sales guy said it was bc of the way the car is designed. I've never had a car that had distorted view at the bottom of the windshield. It's about 2" from the bottom. I'm wondering if it's a defect?
Dee Ward Hello Dee, I didn't notice that at the very bottom of the windshield, that's very interesting. Most likely is a part of the car and the way they designed it, it could be poorly designed.
Look at the very bottom of the windshield and you'll see that it's distorted. You probably didn't notice it. I'm just very aware of things like that. Good luck with your car!
I just bot a 2018 Yaris iA which is overengineered. The speech recognition is not working. Ride is bumpy unless road is smooth. I got a $75 navigation map chip on Ebay to try. I don't like 6 forward gears (I figure it is more likely to go bad w/ complexity. I recall the old PowerGlide Chevy transmission w/ only 2 forward gears.
Even after scion got this from Mazda 2 and AFTER Toyota got this car... No changes have been done . lame even the yaris has more tech stuff and more space
You try to sound like some other yt that is famous for his reviews lol I think we all know who it is... How about you try reviewing the car in your own way not the same exact way he does it dam, it was almost line by line
Nv is a card you plug in. $200 at the dealer (retail is about $400, but people don't "pay" that). It can be bought 3rd party for $140 on line, too. Sometimes as low as $30.
one thing this car doesnt have is the the gauge to read the engine temp. guess in some years you'll blow up your engine or wont know your thermostat isnt working...😅. they went cheap XD

How is the car holding up 5 years later? How many miles do you have on it?
@@ethanhoff7772 I have about 76,000 miles on it now with no issues. And my commute to work is about 80 miles round trip. Just regular maintenance.

This is one of the best cars out there for the money.
Agreed
ER B planning on trading my new faulty 3month old supposed to be brand new 2018 toyota CH-R to this. Lol
Hey Cameron. I agree with 100 percent. the Mazda design of this cabin is certainly nicer than what Toyota offers in the subcompact class.
The Yaris has come a long way. I like the dash and the upscale feel. Looks to have a very nice paint job Id consider one of these
Iv been having this car since came out... is a beast! 129,000 miles and STILL GOING!!!!
another good video. glad to see you doing videos of all segment of cars. some other you tubers just review cars real people can't afford. at least u don't discriminate when it comes 2 cars, segments, and price

It isnt a CVT! Win win!
this vehicle offers the best value for the buck
Oh and I loved it had 6 speed automatic! I wish auto manufactures would stop using CVTs!
I wish people would buy more manuals.
Learn how to drive manuals and you´ll forget about how boring autos are.
I'm looking into one of these to replace a totaled Scion xd. I LOVED that Scion, and alas they are no more. Looks like these make a pretty comparable alternative, tho.
Smart key access on the outside + Sirius XM and this would be the absolute most perfect car
Can you add Sirius with a transmitter? Like an adapter plugged in?

Rear look is much better than before.
I've had it over 6 years. I like the Lexus ES but also the Toyota iM. Gran Cherokee too. So undecided. Even Subaru Outback.
I was on my way to test drive a new TOYOTA Yarris iA. I changed my mind since I knew that the iA model is made by MAZDA!! I'm a TOYOTA guy, switching to MAZDA would be a downgrade for me.
But in the last few years Mazda has been better. I loved this car and I was a Toyota chick
The steering column also telescopes closer to you body in the 2018 model.
Any suggestions on hiding the touch screen part of this vehicle? I feel like it sticking up is clear bait for thieves.
Towel over it?
Use a sunroof and tint windows

It does have height adj on the driver side.
wish they put projectors on it tho...
i have this car sedan version stick shift , i love it its nice smooth fast when you can pull it lol just wish it had a sunroof
Stephanie Perez fast? 😂
I was saying the same thing about the sunroof!

wish it had sirius/xm
Why is the mazda 2 getting re badged when the original Toyota yaris is still being produced throughout the rest of the world.
How is it that the new 1.5 litre has the same horsepower as the 1.3 litre engine at ~100 bhp?
IMHO the 6 forward gears is to increase gas mileage by always having the most efficient gear in use, but I donno about the multiple gaps where briefly no gear wud be in gear between shifts. I think 6 is too complicated.

why does this look exactly like Mazda's features
Because it is a Mazda.
No arm rest? 😢

There is a warning light: red for when it is hot if it over heats and blue for when engine hasnt reached normal temp yet.
This is 100% scion ia with a Toyota logo
En español latino deberían de estar estos videos 😐
Honda fit is a better car more power and comfort
looks like a sports car, drives like a Toyota. very disappointing amount of power in this thing
elitestar you bought a 17k commuter car and were hoping for...what?? a farrari?
You dont know what you're talking about. This car is all Mazda, drives sporty.
lack of power? 0--60 under 9 sec for 106 hp is a lot of power. this is a city car. i have it and it drives smooth!
