I lost my board down the mountain last year because I wasn't using a leash. Quite embarrassing and the snow where it landed was super deep so it took a lot of effort to get it. 🤦‍♀️🙄

You may not want a leash but most areas require them just as skis use to have to have them until bindings started to include brakes. You personaly could be liable for the injuries of someone who is injured by a runaway board.

TL:DR Only using board length vs rider height is not a good way to select a board. Pay attention to board flex and width that match your body and riding abilities.
On the topic of selecting a board, rider height / weight / feet size are all factors. Gender is also a factor, female riders generally have wider stance compared to male riders of the same height, so a properly designed female specific model in the same board category will have a wider stance reference point, slightly softer flex due to the wider stance has less leverage to bend the board, and narrower board waist for smaller feet/boot size. A 156cm board just means the board measures tip to tip 156cm, you will need to find out how wide it is, what the effective running length is, how flexible it is for bare minimum when getting a board. Then there is board shape, and base profile and probably some more.

I'm pretty new to snowboarding (only few days of riding) and oh.. my greatest fear is the damn chairlift lol
Took me some time to figure out how I need to position myself before getting off, but it still feels really awkward trying to get off of it.
Not only that, some chairlifts seem to be faster than others, so I never know what to expect.
The worst but funny thing is when you got more than 1 beginner on the chairlift... oh the struggle and random grabs
And the T-Lift or whatever it's called is also weird..

my tip, when getting off a chair lift lean forward not backwards. It’s better to fall forwards than down the back of the hill (you’re probably thinking how could that happen but my friend did it the first time they got off a chair lift, went backwards like 10 ft)

T Baker Haha it’s ok. One time my older brother (I was like 7) let me get on the chair lift without him, and they had to stop and made me jump off the chairlift because I couldn’t reach the bar

@@T25de People sure get twitchy with anything "gender". I got the dick and all my boards are from the ladies collection. The last upload in my channel happens to be snowboarding, I was riding a Solomon Gypsy, yes a women's board. I'm the last person to say you should ONLY pick boards from the dudes section or vise versa. My post from the feed's main response copy/paste on why gender is also a factor.
"Female riders (generally) have wider stance compared to male riders of the same height, due to the leg/torso ratio, and wider hips, so a properly designed female specific model in the same board category/size vs male's should have a wider stance reference point, slightly softer flex due to the wider stance has less leverage to bend the board while carving, and narrower board waist for smaller feet/boot size."
Height matters due to stances width, if I gain 30lb next season, I wouldn't want to ride a board that's 10cm longer than before, I would look for stronger flex in the same size range.

She seems to be watching a video for beginners who would crash a lot. Because most of the gear shes talking about is for crash protection. Looser fitting clothing gives the experts like her the freedom to move freely and nail the big moves, but beginners don't bust big moves so they can use the extra padding.

I know this is super old schoo and quarantine has gotten me super bored so I'm replying. I hope I'm not being offensive. Honestly wish this season was open so we could all forget this pandemic. Any whoodles, I can't explain the reasoning very well but I know it's not a lb per cm. A 200lb guy doesn't ride a board that's 200cm. I just know each size has a range of weights so that the rider's weight is distributed throughout the board properly if that makes any sense lol
