I know right, John Batiste is excellent but hearing Louis Cato these last couple months has just really been so enjoyable. Colbert has assembled an amazing band with Stay Human!
Stay Human is clearly a breeding ground for natural talent! I was heartbroken when Jon went on well-deserved leave, but Louis stepped right up to fill the void. 👏👏👏
Very well said and spot on, we all missed John Batiste but Louis Cato is just amazing and I'm actually glad that we got to hear him being featured while John is gone. These videos of Stay Human are awesome and they should have millions of views by now!
This is stunning. Magical. Joyful, brilliant, grounded with natural sounds played by real people who stayed human. I hope Tracy Chapman hears this group. The vocal range and flexibility reminded me of her songs of long ago. This group is how we humans should be--in tune, creative & fresh, not scowling with robotic talking points or mindless derisive unoriginal chants at a campaign rally.
That's why I kept playing in dance bands instead of being a rock star, soul, r'n'b, funk, Jimi style.... Why! There are bag-pipes in my family, but I bought a Stratocaster and Marshall amp for myself. It's one thing to see a live band, it's another to get up on the dance floor, what music is for.
That's a really excellent comment, hearing Louis Cato with Stay Human is just really amazing. As much as we miss John Batiste, Louis is just as talented in my opinion and this song just really speaks to my soul!
It seems Late Show is a magnet for relentlessly positive and supremely talented musicians. This was a delight. Louis is so smoothe. What a voice. And I loved the George Benson-esque voice and guitar doubling at the end. Sax and trumpet harmonies were so uplifting. Really great stuff. More of this, please!
Agreed! I hope they see this and consider!!!! Listened to his album because of this performance and it's wonderful. Can't believe I'm so late to his music. It'd be interesting to see a different take on some of his songs like he did here, especially with this band - they seem to mesh very well together.
I'm replying to myself because I described a musical concept. Here's another. When I saw McCoy Tyner on his Atlantis tour, talking with him between sets, he had two horn players. For one song one horn player had a smaller sax, not an alto, and the other player had a bigger sax, not a baritone. The low sax player would start a big bubbling riff and take it up the scale until the higher sax blended in and took it up higher. The bass would start again before the high sax stopped and it created a circular motion of sound, a very special acoustic effect. The bass player, Juni Booth, was using a Fender Jazz bass, an electric, because his upright was stolen at the New York airport. It'still my favorite solo piano, McCoy Tyner, "Naima", off "Echoes of a Friend". If you listen here make sure it's the studio version, even if it only shows the album cover.
Wow, does Stay Human run DEEP with talent! Great job Mr. Cato on a wonderful song and a wonderful album. So, Stephen, what are you going to do if your band has multiple Grammy winners? It just makes sense though. The best show obviously has the best band! Congrats Louis and everyone from Stay Human!
This is the first time I'm hearing Louis sing. I can guarantee he is gonna sing a song in a Disney movie some time in the future. He's just got DAT VIBE for me! 😀
Wow, there is literally nothing not to like about this incredible performance. Every bandmember is very talented and they all come through in just this ONE amazing song. I like the small size of the band - no layers upon layers to obscure their talent and joyfulness. More please!
I sure hope everyone knows how lucky they are to see these incredible musicians every night. I miss Mr. Batiste, but the show is in good hands with these folks. I like that they're letting some other artists sit in as well. Makes it fresh!
Wow! Finally get to hear for the first time since the show aired the very talented "Stay Human" band from Stephen Colbert show. Also the very talented sound guys who recorded this version. The horn section is perfect along with the percussion. Just wish this version was on Cato's new album which features his great song writing skills and musicianship. How about a Stay Human album with the same sound quality? I'ld buy it!
Am I the only one who believes Stay Human can be the "musical guests" every night and nobody would be disappointed? Fantastic performance 🎸 🥁 📯 🏆👍🏾. We need more feel good music to help heal and lift our Spirits.
Thought it was fabulous when I first watched it the other day! The more and more I watch it, the more I love it! Hope there will be more full segments featuring these amazing artists! ❤❤❤
Thank You!!!! 🙏🏽💙🙏🏽 I’ve been asking to hear more of this great band, and it was a source of real joy to find this gift on a fine New Moon morning. Ok, gotta go back to dancing around my living room while I loop this lovely video…😎🙏🏽💙
THIS perfect ensemble of JOY called music speaks the universal language of LOVE.💕 If you doubt it, just read the comments and then listen…Thank You Louis Cato and all of the amazing talent of Stay Human for that glorious “hug.” And to Stephen Colbert, my funny bone, “touchstone” who keeps me laughing my weary, fed-up ass off, when I need it the most. 🙏🏼and #Give’EmHell for US,👌🏼!!💙🇺🇸❤️
An effervescent performance; a fitting eulogy. Stay human, people - seek help before you seek your end. Send love into the depths of despair; light a way back, for those who linger there.
For all of those new to Mr Cato, I implore you to please go back a good 15yrs plus and see how long he’s been Louis Cato, the incredibly multi-instrumentalist that he is, and how long he’s been on the scene at a high level and all of the amazing people he’s worked with long before J Bap and Stay Human. Cato been at this for a Long time, and this recognition is long overdue. Also, that record came out 2017, of which performed all the instruments, mix & mastered himself. So it’s new to many, but not new😬 Dude is absolutely one of the most gifted & humble cats I’ve ever met! Love this dude, and So happy to Colbert show him love. 🙏🏾
After being a relative newcomer to this show decided to see if Louis had done anything else. Was not disappointed. Great track. A nice blend of jazzy with African vibes. Brilliant.
I can't decide what I like best about this song because all of it is wonderful. Thank you, Late Show, for letting Louis and Stay Human have this time to share their talents with us!
I have been waiting to see what Louis could do.....
It sure put a smile on my face and I'm not disapointed.
You say not disappointed, I wasn't, but it made me think he's the new star of the show.
Was nice, but sounds derivative of Van Morrison.
I feel the same way and I came here to say the same thing.
@@sheenak3733 I heard shades of Stevie Wonder.

"breeding ground"? This is an entertainment format. Louis Cato has been Louis Cato way before this.
You ain't wrong, friend!

More, LSSC! More Stay Human on UA-cam. Good vibes we need after the news. More!
Holy Cow! ANOTHER Great song by ANOTHER budding star!!!!
Stay Human are fabulous!!!!
Thanks Stephen!
The album cut of this is really nice, but this more up-tempo version is spectacularly uplifting. Please release it as a single!
Yes!!! I came hoping to find this as a single. I like the album version too but this one has such a wonderful feel. I need this single!!

Louis and the band are so talented. I am happy they are getting a chance to shine. Well done. 🔥🔥
Those two horn players really have it together, playing off each other and then harmonizing, nice.

When the music makes your soul move as much as your body, you know it’s good.
