This is a really excellent piece - thank you!! You've got me... SOLD on EDD -> Mentorship for CC (and the rest of the young team) by one of the most clutch players in WNBA history (now rested after a year off) -> Excellent floor-spacing -> good defense (AB + EDD would SHUT the paint) -> a multi-talented player who could make every other player on the Fever a multiple-threat (AB screens for EDD, or reverse; killing double-teams on CC outside the three; high picks for CC; kick-outs to KM or LH; etc., etc., etc.). Fever just resigned Kelsey Mitchell - FANTASTIC!! -> Now if the Fever could just get Elena Delle Donne...!! I'm sure Fever have thought about it. How do we make sure they have thought HARD about it? Would Fever still be able to bring in a solid talent from overseas, if they signed EDD?
She didn't play consistently because of back issues included herniated discs which required multiple surgeries and often the limited her playing time she also dealt with Lyme disease impacting her ability to compete at full capacity
I like her stats. The Fever need a stretch 4. There are a couple of questions I would need answered first. 1. Can she run. The Fever want to play a fast paced transition game. The need a forward who can go rim to rim. 2. This is Caitlin's team. That is a done deal. Stephanie White has outlined that already. So veteran players think that they can come into a young team and start dictating to other players. Can she be comfortable being relogated to just a supporting role. 3. While players can obviously benifit from the experiences of veteran players Caitlin Clark does not need a mentor. Stephanie White has already taken that position. Her experience as college player, a pro player, a television analyst and a Coach of the Year has just about all the knowlege Caitlin. I should also add that she has follow Caitlin's career since 8th grade. So, do you think Elena can fit that structure. She might fit a situation like Valkaries instead. Right now with Temi Fagbenle at center, she'd slide right in as a forward. The Valkaries need a good tandom to protect the basket while a young team learns to play together. Right now Temi and Kate Martin are the only gimmies on the Valkaries right now. She obviously, would be a third.
Supporting role ??? Come off the bench ??? Are you joking ? She scores 18.8 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.2 BPG, shoots 49% from the field, 40.2 % from the arc, and shoots 93 % from the free throw line. Now tell me what big on the Fever can match them stats, NONE.
@@johndickson435 I didn't say she wouldn't start. I'm saying she's not going to come in and take over the locker room. Caitlin doesn't need a mentor. She doesn't need to be led, she's the one leading. White has already given her that role. White will want to be sure that she can be "one of the girls".
@@johndickson435 I already said I like her stats. Kelsey Mitchel had 19.2 ppg as a guard with 40.2 3p% but a little less in free throws. But these are different positions so lets get back on topic. First can she play the style of basketball the Fever want to play. There are huge red flages there. She's had back injuries since 2019. She's had multiple herniated disks. She had an ankle and hip injury in 2023. She took off part of last season to "evaluate her future in the sport". Just knowing all that might generate a pass from the Fever. My argument earlier was about how she fits the team. To often, as I said, players, especially good ones, come in with the attitude the says "I am the vet. I have the experience." and then try to take over the locker room. This is Caitlin's team. No questions need to be asked because if you listen to Stephanie Whites interviews she spells it out definately. White has been watching Caitlin's game since she was in middle school and knows the direction she wants to go.
@ I'm sure she would not try and take over she has been following Clarks progress sense the 8th grade and loves her to death, so to speak and as far as her running who knows, I don't, you don't and I don't think anyone else knows but her and as a vet I'm sure she knows how the Fever play and knows if she can or cannot run with them. Other words I honestly think that she will not sign a contract just to embarrass herself on National T.V. because she can't run.
As much as I like EDD - she’s not even sure she’ll play this season n back issues/surgeries hav limited her recent playing time. If fever mgmt pulls that trigger I’m good with it but not expecting it
We've been discussing potential moves, but it seems like the Fever has been really slow taking their time in making any significant changes. Very slow!
She is 35 years old, and injuries are becoming an issue. She did not sign the contract offered , and said she was retiring. Only going to get one year out of her, maybe. She isn't going to be able to do the run and gun like the Fever need. Would she be willing to come off the bench? If it weren't for age and injury, I'd be all for it.
She retired because her team cored her and promised to trade her like she wanted them to do but they never traded her so she retired and sense they didn't core her this year she can play for any team that she wants. because she is a UFA
@@johndickson435 As a Miami Dolphins fan, I am kinda jaded to picking up "Good Players", that are at the end of their careers, and coming off injuries. She hasn't played a full season in 3 years. For the last three seasons she has been playing around 25/40 min. a game. She is 35 and has a history of injury's, as a big she averages the same amount of rebounds as CC. You are referring to her career averages. Not what she has done of late. 4 years ago she was a beast. Still a very good player when she is healthy. But it is hard to replace the chemistry of a starter, that's only there part time. I have absolutely nothing against her. IF she can stay healthy.
They will know that before they sign. You go for Satu, then if she goes with NY, then you sign Elena. You wouldn't sign Elena before knowing Satu's decision.
God bless, Elena Delle Donne would love to see her play for the Fever, I read up on her and she deserves all that she gets.

The running game plays are not always possible. Good to have a solid player that can set the pace for a sure score inside. Yes for Elena!
Elena Delle Donne Added to the FEVER roster would CERTAINLY ACCELERATE the FEVER to SURE FIRE DOMINATING CHAMPIONSHIPS !!!😍😇
As long as she can get up and down the floor. Not a slug like Griner. I'd like to see EDD attend a Clark workout to see if she can keep up!
Even better ,she is a free agent , so we don’ t have to give up anything 🎉

The issue with the Fever is on the defensive side. No matter who they add, if they don't fix that, they won't advance in the playoffs very far.

Age, injuries, and lime disease make EDD unreliable. Emma Messesman is who the Fever should go after
Yeah - Emma Messerman would be great - but wouldn't she end up somewhere else?
She has a bad back! Maybe she won’t play anymore. Maybe we have someone from Europe that’s not being shared. Fever front off ice know what their doing
Yes, Della over Satou.
