Bought a 2019 Ntrek just on a year ago with 30,000km on the clock. The first mod I installed was a Mann Hummel catch can from Western Filters. Good quality unit and it does its job well. Unfortunately I will need to remove it today as my rear main seal looks like it’s gone. Still under warranty so best to remove the catch can so no arguments on what caused the rear main to go even though it is common among NP300 even without catch cans.

Yeah better to be safe! Let us know how you go and if they ask "have you ever had a catch can installed?"

I fitted one to my 2020 Nav last month. Fitted correctly there will be no issue. It will probably mean you won’t have hot pipe oil leaks. As a diesel mechanic with 20 yrs experience in heavy vehicles most vehicles have some sort of catch can.

Hey breadman...., i hav a 2015 nissan np300, 2.5 turbo diesel. My np didnt come with an EGR, they blanked it, they rerouted the hose into my intake before the turbo. I took a hose from the top of the tappix cover and rerouted it downwards under the vehicle.it throws abit of bypass combusion but i can liv with that.. i am doing 243000k's and never changed a rear engine/diff seal..... cheers .mate🇹🇹

I have read that blanking the EGR is a thing too. Awesome!

Had a catch can fitted to a NP300 for 6 years, 100,000k, no rear main seal leak, also no EGR issues of intercooler filled with oil residue, unlike the previous Navara V6 at 60,000K

Just about to take delivery of a NEW (late 2023 plated) Navara & it will also be getting a catch can, we used HPD alloy type & clean it out every 10,000k, remove the entire can & wash out in solvent/petrol, it will also get a Steinbauer module to pep the output,

Before I sold the Nav, I did 4000kms with it and had no issues at all 😀

Probably the same reason they place the Turbo Actuator's at the front of the engine with the filter ready to collect the swamp juice. It's a great car and does everything I need it to including pissing off the Landcruiser and patrols owners when I drive past the spot they can't, however the build quality isn't what they were when they made their name. CHEAP now.

I put one on my NAV when I purchased it 2 years ago. Since then, I've done turbo back exhaust and tuned, 4inch lift and hundreds of trips where the NAV has been abused. I do have the rear main leaks now, but when I put it on, the car had done 55k's and it started to leak at 105k's, that's 50k of abuse. I don't believe it was the caused I just put it down to the shit design and the CHEAP CRAP MAIN SEAL itself. Why did they use this material when 99% of every other manufacturer wont?

what does it cost to redo rear main seal?? have a appt for hot pipes and catch can and manifold clean this week, 50% of people say catch cans make things worse, but every shop iv been to says I need one before I make things alot worse.....
