  • When Arthur Evans, a British archaeologist decided to explore the Minotaur's Island, believed to be Crete, he discovered the Minoans, an ancient civilization. Little is known about the Minoans, but they were avid traders, trading luxury goods like purple dye, fostering their reputation and economic prosperity. The Minoans also constructed enormous labyrinthine buildings, potentially inspired by the countries they visited while trading, creating the inspiration for the Minotaur's labyrinth.

Another doc that's at least twenty years old. Fortunately it's Bettany Hughes at her best back when she was doing serious documentaries. Hers are probably the best on Crete, and on Greece in general.

This was fantastic! I became aware of bits of history unknown to me. The narrator is truly a badass. Good on you girl!

Excellent documentary! It may be 20 years ago, but still just as good. I know it is shallow of me to be enchanted, almost enthralled, by Ms. Hughes voice and diction, but considering I grew up in a rural and somewhat backward area (i.e. the buckle of the redneck belt), I feel not guilt. The sound effects and background music are very effective, appropriately atmospheric without being intrusive are distracting, other than making one want more. But then, isn't that an important piece of advice -"Always leaving them wanting more."

One subject holds steadfast through History, in reviewing the various Civilizations, be they in the Near East, Middle East, European, or South and Central America. The weakening of each stems from the Human Lower Mind.
The "Lower Mind, aka Ego Mind, aka Adolescent Mind" which holds all the negative thought energies: ("fear and fear based thoughts, prejudices, accusations, judgemental, envy, jealousy, etc, the insecurities, the Lackings: lack of self worth, self confidence, self esteem, etc, instability.")
Cataclysms throw these Lower Minded traits into a frenzy, chaos erupts, and the results are similar to that of volcanoes and earthquakes.
These repeat, over and over, throughout History, are observable in Historical records. Yet, the majority, constrained by the chains of fear, seem unable to recognize the cause of their experiences. Those few that came to gain knowledge of this very real cause of undesired experiencings were either unable to communicate it's "energy causes" or used it to their own advantages, thrusting them into the power roles of Ownerships, vast wealth, and ease in manipulating the 99%.
The definitive understanding found in the "Universal Laws", particularly the "Universal Law of Attraction", in antiquity in the "Hermetic Principals".
This fact and it's reality remains true into the 21st Century, but now, there's enormous waves of Awakenings, and there's countless practicing Thoughts of the Higher Mind aka Mature Mind, and this can be seen in growing evidence of the emerging Positive Experiences, and it will continue to expand into a Golden Age for Humanity.

Well, I read your longwinded narrative. It seems optimistic without cause tonight. Iran just started a war with Israel that may well become WWIII, or perhaps Ragnarok.

The Minoans weren't immigrates from today Turkey. Actually the opposite has happened. Also their language is similar to the Myceneans and their origins are Doric. I can't believe the fact that your documentary if full of so many mistakes. I couldn't even finish watching it, although it contains so many other nice and useful information. Please be more careful when you publish something that is way too sensitive for specific ethnicities and geographical areas
