guard edge is so great. it's a perfect counter. in GU you can't cancel your move into an Adept counter. You have to drop whatever you are doing, go back to neutral, then after that, you can adept guard. With valor style, the guardpoint quick reload can be canceled from a lot of moves, but it will get knocked back if it is hit by a very strong attack (Glavenus's spin to win for example), even with Guard +2. Guard edge seems to have no issue with strong attacks.
Lmao as a fellow hunter that enjoys using Brave gunlance, it do be pretty brain dead, get valor and R + A kaboom until you win, this new GL is pretty interesting mechanically tho, quite fun
Canta's timing with the Guard Edge is really on point, especially at 4:05, what a beautiful display. I'm still stumbling a bit with using the Wire Dash effectively during combat, so I don't always have enough Wirebug left to use the Silkbind skill. I could really learn a lot from this, since I want to make the Gunlance one of my main in Rise!
This video made me want to main gunlance in rise. Was previously a IG user but wanted to try something different. Thank you for helping me decide what weapon I want to main
Hey canta have you figured out exactly where the i-frames are yet (for the normal evasion)? I always find it easiest to learn off of monster roars but I can't tell if monster roars are late or if the i-frames are really early
Man, the moves they gave mizu in the demo feel like it'd be at least a high rank hunt in GU. That sliding water beam is crazy, though I guess all it takes to dodge now is a good wirebug jump and hang.
I believe it's the same as world where you press the guard button but I'm not particularly confident. Been a while since I've played fifth gen GL and didn't care for rise GL
yooo i noticed in the trailer that they brought back the blast dash from XX, but you didn't really use it in this hunt so i wanted to ask: is it not avaliable in the demo at all? i just have so many fun memories of using it in XX to cut tails and such, so glad it's back ;w;

Another neat little thing I noticed about Gunlance (and all weapons with a guardpoke) is that you can actually chain out of most moves directly into a guardpoke now, and since gunlance can fire or quick reload right after a guard poke, it effectively makes the guard poke similar to a guard point. Handy in a pinch when you're out of wirebugs to counter with
Guard edge is simply the best change that the gunlance went through in MHR. The long delaying motion after the full burst and wyrmstake can be easily countered with guard edge. It basically ani cancels! I didn't expect to see a day when guard point and full burst gameplay style to be viable option after the gravely under-estimated guard point in MHW.

You can quickly recover from getting hit by using the wirebug. It’s essential for gunlance because of the lengthy sheathe time. Try and use it when you get hit it will greatly help your recovery. It auto sheathes your weapon and then you can heal instead of having to sheathe canta!
He is being patient. He knows this but wants to make sure that he can edge guard as many attacks as possible, the time lost from getting hit isn't as much as the time lost from doing less consistent damage. It's Canta, he knows what he's doing.

The doggo drift is probably the best part about the game. Also something I'm not sure you knew but in that one blue selection thing, you can select wait to make your pets stay away from an area. Meaning that what you can do is use the palamute to run to an area, jump off while quickly setting the palamute to wait, meaning that they won't engage, which will make the monster AI more consistent.
