I think deep down everyone loves the romance of exploration. It's one reason the Indiana Jones style movies are/were so popular. When I'm hiking and encounter ruins I like to think about the people throughout history who walked/stood wherever I'm standing and walking. Thanks for taking us along!! Have a great weekend.

“Deep Thoughts” with the TopoRanger. My personal explanation for my fascination with ruins is the ability to touch and connect with history at a more visceral level that speaks to the human condition more than you’ll ever get reading about it, watching a documentary, or seeing photos. Superficially it makes me feel like one of my childhood heroes Indiana Jones. 😂 Loved this video Brett. Truly. Well done brother. Look forward to connecting with some ruins with you soon!

Great video! Frankentunnel was the first Toporanger video for me. It prompted me to go there last year and explore, which was awesome. Keep up the explorations of these unique hidden features.

I really like the way you described the fascination with ruins. It's nice when someone on UA-cam expresses original thoughts.
Keep doing what you're doing. Your videos rock!

I study Bonsai, and the Japanese have a concept called 'Wabbi Sabbi" (sp?) which sort of means 'something well-made that has a patina of time and use.' Kind of to your first point. Cool music this time, btw.

Ruins give you more of a feeling of the time gone by than restored and intact old things. Was just in Europe, visited some neolithic sites about 5000 years old, and some castle ruins and an intact castle.....the ruins were more interesting.

I'd like to see what you found at Falmouth. There's ruins all over the place there. I would like to find some evidence of the canal at York Haven as well.

That was like 1799. It would be amazing to find something from that.
