I have watched the Dice Tower play through, and your video overview. After your initial plays. After your initial play, what are your first thoughts about the game? What did you like and not like while playing the prototype? What are your overall impressions? Thank you, Tim
Reminds me of Ruination, particularly with the action selection based on card decks. Went all in for that, but I also love this theme so wondering if worth having both
That's a fair point. I definitely noticed what you're talking about while we played it, but it wasn't enough to detract from the overall experience (for me anyway). The art style is busy for sure.
Thanks for watching! It's definitely a departure from their first game, but as a conflict oriented area control game, it's showing some of the same level of clever design choices.
In that this feels like a more elegant/streamlined experience, I would say so. I only ever played Ankh once, but it's not as clean a design as this one is. With that said, I do think the nature of this game lends much better to 3 or 4 players in general.
I have never bought area control because I only play with my partner and it is always said that they are good for 4 players... do you think this game is different, is it worth it for 2 players?
It kickstarts today and you're doing a review of it. Today. Isn't that a tad irresponsible? Are you working for the game company? Did they bribe you to review it to give it the hype the day its campaign starts? This is ludicrous. No one will have a copy for a year, year and a half, yet you thought it a great idea to love this to the moon and back. Influencers are really stepping out of their lane doing this. Y'all need a code of ethics -- Rule 1: Thou shalt not review/hype a game more than 2 months before its retail date.
This is a preview - it is not a review. We give an overview of the mechanics, theme, and gameplay so you can make an informed choice. It is not a review or an endorsement of any kind.
@meeple Stop it. Several other board game influencer channels have also put up videos today at the same time extolling the same game. You have a complete pre production copy in your hands that won't vary in any appreciable way from an eventual street copy no matter any disclaimer you might asterisk on your "preview". It's very easy to understand from your tone and attitude how you 'feel' about Avalon. Thus how can a reasonably intelligent person not grok this as a review and a promotion of a product the gen pop wont get a glimpse of at least untill Gencon next year? I'm very sorry to say it's clear to me there is collusion between publishers and influencers. While this is not illegal it is certainly dishonest and indicative of corruption in the industry.
@@onepingonly1941 Hi Jeremy here (not in this video) When we do these videos all we are doing is showing things..how it plays and some of the concepts of it. Can we a be human and not robotic? Hopefully that is allowed, but nowhere will you hear someone say "hey go back this, spend $400." That would be irresponsible. Also games change more than you know based on feedback from potential backers simply because more fans get to test the game. One of my favorite euros, Galactic Crusie is a completely different game than I played 2 years ago...for the better. Prototypes are sometimes AWESOME and almost complete or a vertical slice of a big game. We aren't here to TRICK you into anything.
Dude, just let me enjoy the marketing hype. Sure, they either got paid or given a game or both. But that’s the game. And if people can’t figure that out then I feel sorry for them. Funny to see them defend themselves - I don’t think they should bother. I don’t like it, but I still will watch the videos so I can’t really complain 😅🤣 Let’s just hope they didn’t try to blackmail them with threats of a negative review 🤪
I'll chime in too I suppose. This is David (owner of the channel, and in this video). We're neither recommending anyone buy this, or giving it a rating. If you don't want to trust us, then there's not much I can say to change your mind. So a couple options for you. You can watch our content over time, and compare it to your experiences with various games, and then determine if we're ever out of our minds or off base. OR, simply don't watch our content. Until you make either of those choices, we appreciate your engagement, but don't appreciate your insinuations of lacking ethics.
Thank you for actually taking the time to show the components
Absolutely! We've always been fans of showing nicer close-up images of the games to illustrate what we're talking about. Hope it helps.

This is my thought exactly. I enjoy ruination and see similarities so I'm on the fence about having both.
Ruination is a solid game, and underrated by many. I've only ever played it once, but I certainly see why you're comparing it.
the cards are quite 'noisy', for my taste, with all those text, icons and card art.. had difficulty focusing on text and art

great indepth overview; game looks really intriguing

Great explanation guys, you did an excellent overview of how the game works. Now, I am even more hyped to see what else is prepared in the campaign.
Thanks! We aim to explain both what a game is doing, as well as how it feels for a player. Glad to hear this feedback.
Better than ankh for 2 player area control?

Pretty hyped for this one!
Are you a fan of these sorts of games, or does your hype stem from Oathsworn (from the same publisher)?
