And have been convinced of it for about 2 years now. It really opens the scriptures to a new level and you have the rich traditions and the saints. Found my way out of the false dialectic of roman Catholicism and protestantisim and by the Grace of God I wont go back
I was baptist and my wife was non-denominational and both of us feel the same way. When you enter the church you're supposed to humble yourself before God. How are we supposed to have an amazing and deep relationship with him if we don't fast for him? If we don't pray and prostrate before him? If we don't look up to his fellow followers and love his mother as he did? All it took for her and I to convert so fast was for us to soften our hearts. I still can't believe how arrogant I was as a baptist. Every single one of the debate arguments the Orthodox brought to Protestants were irrefutable, and the more I learned the more I realized how wrong I was. It was very very humbling to say the least. We've never felt so complete in the faith before Orthodoxy
Store bought - O My ! I bet the bread served in the Upper Room was hand baked fresh - - - & garlic & leeks had a strong association with Egypt - O My !
The bread that we use for the holy communion, has a very specific way in which it has to be prepared, it has a very specific wooden stamp with symbols that represent, Christ, Panagia, the angels, and other symbols, and the priest has to cut from specific parts of the symbols on the bread to make the sacrifice. Also the one who makes the bread also has to obide to specific rules, for example it is good to pray during the making of the bread and other things. Are you sure you went to an Orthodox holy liturgy??
I grew up in an Assemblies of God Pentacostal church. While im very very thankful for that upbringing and I wouldn't have converted to Orthodoxy without that foundation I still never would have in a million years thought I would have become Orthodox. Best decision ive ever made. Welcome home king

@@triplea6174 @LuciferisJesus-mv9hp 0 seconds ago @triplea6174 ,...I cannot explain the truth of the Bible to you. The truth is what the Bible tells us it is. The Bible is a spiritual book that is ONLY understood by the FEW who Jesus came to save and has made spiritually alive. The spiritually dead (all the blind, lost, and deceived people in all the apostate churches/manmade religions) do not have the ability to understand the Bible and this is why there are all these different "Christian" religions, and tens of thousands of different denominations. They are all manmade frauds. For anyone to understand the Bible Jesus has to first make that person spiritually alive. God decides who he is going to save, not me. Unless Gods opens one's eyes, they will never come to an understanding of the truth and Christianity of the Bible. Get away from everything that calls itself the/a church and read the Bible yourself only. Do not EVER listen to anyone from ANY church. The truth is found only in the Bible, not ever in any church.
You really hit on some great points. When I first came into the Church, I was struck by how deliberate the liturgy was. I felt like I was truly worshipping God and not just celebrating him. For me, there is a difference, and it is huge. I've since learned and observed how every detail has a purpose and/represents something. The iconography, the direction the Altar Table faces, incense, the layout of the Church building and so much more. There is a distinct purpose for EVERYTHING.
Agreed brother, even when the priest comes out to read hes met by 4 boys holding candles, this is for obvious reasons as well.. it just goes back, and that's what I want.
I was baptized and chrismated in the Orthodox Church almost three years ago. I was married in the same parish a year later. My only regret is that it didn't happen sooner, but I don't question God's providence. Glory to God!
God love you John. Great hearing your journey to Orthodoxy. I was agnostic and full of anger and behold though I'm soon approaching my seventies, many years ago l came upon a book by this monk from a place call mount Athos called " Wounded by love" by Saint Porphyrios, and it totally changed my life. Then l started reading other saints like Paisios, Joseph the Hesychast and Maximus the Confessor ; l couldn't believe it. The lives of these Saints totally transformed me. I mean the humility, the discernment, it was something l never experienced before. Afterwards l started hearing the stories of former Protestants who converted like Fathers Paul Truebenbac Josiah Trenham, Andrew Cuneo, John Whiteford, Seraphim Holland, and Father Michael from living Orthodoxy. In addition to listening the debates from Jay Drier, Stephen Freeman and many others. Congratulations John I'm very happy for you and your wife . Your story is very inspiring and trust me it will touch the lives of many.
Former member of the churches of Christ (non-instrumental) here, and I was baptized into Holy Orthodoxy last year on Holy Saturday, thank God! There is simply no looking back or going back. I stumble and fall in my sins, of course, and still have so much growing to do, but there are no doubts in my mind whatsoever that Holy Orthodoxy-the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church-is the Way. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Most Holy Theotokos, save us.
Strange how things work. I was raised Roman Catholic, but recently I've been drawn to Orthodoxy. A local Orthodox church puts some of their services online, and I've been watching them. But I don't know anyone in the Orthodox church, and don't really know what to do next. Thank you for doing this video. God Bless.
Thanks so much for this……I’m inexorably drawn to Orthodoxy and have attended a parish for almost two years, though sadly my wife wants absolutely nothing to do with it…and perhaps to add to the difficulty she has been for her whole life a very strong and dedicated Christian (we’re Protestants) …..please pray for us! ☦️🙏❤️ God bless…..
There were a few times when I first started visiting my local Orthodox Church, that I just had to laugh at myself a little. I had attended church all my life but they followed the basic American liturgy (3 songs, 30ish minute sermon, altar call). I felt so completely lost in the context of the Divine Liturgy, but it was just so rich that I needed to know more. It was humbling to realize how little I understood.
I’m fairly certain we’re attending the same one. I’m not trying to dox anyone, but I’m very looking forward to the instructional Liturgy my priest is going through tomorrow. Hopefully I will get to see you there.
I was adamantly non-denominational Protestant the entire time I've been a Christian, but now I'm attending Orthodox services exclusively and hope to be a catechumen soon. So many of the points you cited are the exact reasons I have begun pursuing Orthodoxy. The one thing that initially pulled me in was the level of priority given to reverent worship of God during Orthodox services. I just couldn't do contemporary music and casual services any longer (not slagging them, I just reached a point where it just wasn't enough). Thanks for sharing. Grace and peace.
Welcome home brother! You have some solid reasons to become orthodox, if you haven't seen it already, Fr. Josiah Trenham wrote a book and summarized it in a two part interview called "Rock And Sand", he was a presbyterian minister before converting, so he does a very charitable refutal of the 5 Solas. May the Lord protect you in your catechumenate so that you may be received in the Body of Christ soon ☦️☦️☦️

Brother I discovered Eastern Orthodoxy in the Fall last year. Did as much research as possible, prayed on it, and spoke with the priests of my local parish. Welcome to the fullness of the faith ☦️❤️
I grew up a confessional Lutheran. Somehow became a Mormon for a couple years.... we won't talk about that. I was a typical teen who thought with my feelings. But became an agnostic because of that experience. God called me back by meeting a good Catholic girl, my wife. I started going to non-denom churches, but the theology seemed weak. So, I joyously returned to my Lutheran upbringing for 12 years. My wife loved it too. However, I started reading the early Church and things didnt make sense. That you NEEDED to be Baptised. NEEDED the Eucharist. NEEDED bishops. That isnt whatbI was taught. It bothered me for a few years until I finally saw it in Scripture. It was eye opening. My family was baptised into Holy Orthodoxy last year. I am so grateful and excited to know Jesus more.
You may be a protestant but you, like the guy in this video, are not a Christian. Like him, you are completely steeped in darkness and deception. Repent!
Anyone with the humbleness and guts to look at what they’ve been taught and compare it to the Early Church will end up Orthodox or Catholic. I’m in the process of converting to the Antiochian Orthodox Church myself.
No, the truth is, anyone who like you is spiritually dead, blind, Biblically illiterate, willingly ignorant, a lover of lies and deception will end up in some manmade abomination such as the fraud of orthodoxy, catholicism, mormonism, jehovah's witnesses, etc. Repent, and learn what the truth of the Bible actually is.
Wonderful. Great to finally find the true church. I was reformed Baptist. It’s made up stuff like 600 years ago. You don’t see the errors while you’re in it but then it hit me.
Just to add to the Eucharist slide - John 6:53 "Then Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink His blood, you have no life in you". Everything is literally infront of us but we are too blind to see it unless we ask God with genuine humility. Highly recommend everyone read about Saint Paisios who is a resent Saint and probably one of the greatest in the latest centuries. Great presentation my brother - keep it up!!

I too am coming to realize that the reformation statement of Grace Alone Through Faith Alone is not what the bible taught, because it denies the need for obedience. Also I realize that in the Old testament upon the altar was the DIVINE FIRE (THE DIVINE PRESENCE) THAT CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN AND MINGLED WITH THE SACRIFICE (TO WHICH WAS ADDED THE GRAIN AND WINE OFFERING UPON THE SAME ALTAR), which proves the Divine presence does exactly that upon the altar with the Eucharist.

Thank you for hearting my reply to another comment when you have so many! I have a question for you. Before I began following Orthodoxy I ran a little existential philosophy club. I was very into helping people find the meaning of life. I had been an atheist most of my life, but became Christian in 2010. It bothered me that so many people around me seemed lost, so during Covid I studied apologetics formally and ended up creating an program based on my philosophy background to lure non-believers and SBNR folks into taking on a serious search for the Truth. But when I converted to Orthodoxy I dropped all of that activity. My thinking was and is, that my efforts had been tinged with pride. Instead, I wanted my life to be transformed in a way that I could naturally help others by just being more “fully human” as we say. I definitely would not start a channel or do much on line due to my prideful nature, but I have given a couple of low key interviews. Do you have any concerns for yourself? I think it was good that you mentioned asking your priest. You did a great job with this video. 😊 Xenia
Absolutely I have alot of concerns with myself i internally critique myself all the time. I battle pride sometimes, I think my bigger issue would probably be my communication or the way I do communicate. Im very black and white o like objective facts also I can come off aggressive and sometimes iam but other times I'm just being passionate
I live in a very liberal community. New cultural norms have replaced biblical teaching in a lot of “churches”. I don’t think our local Orthodox Church is immune to that either. It’s difficult to survive in this community because you are given the label of “hate” if biblical teachings are taught as truth. I do plan to look into this particular local church & their individual (group) beliefs but know that everyone church is vulnerable no matter the denomination. Also there are attenders who are just going through the motions as well as true Christian believers in every (Christian) church. Glad you found your way!
Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in them. John 6:53-56 As a recently baptized Orthodox Christian, I have to say the Eucharist changes everything. I never knew what I was missing in Protestantism until I was able to partake of the Holy Mystery. May God bless this channel and all catechumens/inquirers.
Its impossible to remain protestant once you look into church history, and its impossible to remain Catholic once you understand the doctrinal changes that occurred at Vatican II.

Found my way out of the false dialectic of roman Catholicism and protestantisim and by the Grace of God I wont go back
Amen brother! Thank you for sharing! Praise GOD
This is facts this is beautiful this is humbling very similar to my experience all praise Father Son Holy Spirit GOD bless you my brother!
Congratulations to you. May you have a blessed Pascha☦️

A house church I went to for awhile would use store bought garlic bread for communion. Lord have mercy.
👀
Store bought - O My ! I bet the bread served in the Upper Room was hand baked fresh - - - & garlic & leeks had a strong association with Egypt - O My !
Don’t tell us the wine/grape juice was also store bought - - Ugh !
@@Ari-ih2nl How do you know the upper room bread was hand baked fresh? I bet it was baked in an oven.

@@triplea6174 @LuciferisJesus-mv9hp

@triplea6174 ,...I cannot explain the truth of the Bible to you.

God Bless you brother and May God continue to guide you back home to Holy Orthodoxy!
Yeah brother till the day the Good Lord calls me
I was baptized and chrismated in the Orthodox Church almost three years ago. I was married in the same parish a year later. My only regret is that it didn't happen sooner, but I don't question God's providence.

This message means alot to me. I appreciate you tremendously God bless you brother!

Most Holy Theotokos, save us.
very interesting arguments, helped me look at faith from a different perspective. thank you John(Ioann)
My pleasure God bless!
Strange how things work. I was raised Roman Catholic, but recently I've been drawn to Orthodoxy. A local Orthodox church puts some of their services online, and I've been watching them. But I don't know anyone in the Orthodox church, and don't really know what to do next. Thank you for doing this video. God Bless.
Amen please contact a local orthodox church
I love divine liturgy I can't get enough

Amen, make it happen its the best decision I've ever made all glory to GOD! Stop by sometime if you remember and let me know now its going
The fact that you mentioned you listen to Jay Dyer is a sign that you're serious about converting to Orthodox Christianity and aren't just saying it.
Im completely serious, I love truth and here it is staring me right in the face
Welcome home brother! You have some solid reasons to become orthodox, if you haven't seen it already, Fr. Josiah Trenham wrote a book and summarized it in a two part interview called "Rock And Sand", he was a presbyterian minister before converting, so he does a very charitable refutal of the 5 Solas. May the Lord protect you in your catechumenate so that you may be received in the Body of Christ soon ☦️☦️☦️

The Lord wanted you to walk your path for a reason we don't know yet, be gateful even for what you consider past mistakes, pray without ceasing because the enemy will try to sabbotage your conversion, acquiring the orthodox phronema will take you years, so don't rush it, let the Holy Spirit work on you at His will and pace, be humble and obedient to your priest, avoid "internet orthodoxy" it's filled with spiritually inmature people, deceivers and things that are not profitable. You can follow priests like Fr. Josiah, Fr. Spyridon Bailey, Abbot Tryphon, Fr.
Thank you for sharing God is good!
I'm a Protestant but I have a huge amount of respect for the Orthodox Church. I look forward to seeing and hearing about your journey.

Wow! A humble and honest man before he could ever become fully converted to the Orthodox Catholic Church

Welcome home, brother! Many years! Glory to God

This is a really enlightening and inspiring video. So many profound points, I love the one at 3.00....
John 6:53-56
