    The difference exists in English as well. They can both definitely be equivalents to "sticky" in English, but ねばねば is more like "gooey" and ベタベタ is more like "tacky".

    I worked at a bakery in high school, and some customers would want to know my number, social media, or when I was off from my shift. Most would back off when I said no but I remembered a few would be persistent and it was really difficult because I also couldn't be rude to customers. One customer talked to me a few times and one day found me on Facebook. He messaged me a bit and...turns out he was even older than my mother. I blocked him but he still continued to come to the bakery. Truly ベタベタ

    im really glad i found this channel. ive been getting frustrated because ive been trying to learn japanese for years, i take classes in school, i have had private tutors, and i practice on my own, but i am still not fluent. but then i see people online say they became fluent in 2 years, or that they could hold a conversation in 8 months. i can read hiragana and katakana pretty much perfectly, i learn kanji consistently, and in general japanese feels very natural to me and all my teachers have told me i am very skilled. but despite all this, i am not fluent. if i went to japan today, i would not be able to get around or buy things without someone helping me.
    i decided to do a little research and i found out that the scientifically best way to learn a language, if you cant move to a country that speaks it, is to watch and listen to media in that language without subtitles. and i have been listening to japanese music for years but ive never watched anime or anything without subtitles because it is boring and ruins the story. then i stumbled on your channel and it is really helpful. you speak simple japanese, but not so simple that it is unnatural. you use lots of little images and icons, and hand and facial expressions to help get the meaning of what youre saying across but not so much that you give it away without our brains figuring it out for themselves. ive already noticed that after watching some of your videos, my brain has started taking lots of little puzzle pieces of the language that ive learned and put them together into something i can actually use. for example (haha), in this video i heard you say "たとえば”, and, while i havent actually looked up the meaning yet and i might be making myself look stupid, i connected the dots of a line from a song i like (kataomoi by aimer) and how you used it, and i realized i knew what it means.
    other ways your videos are just perfect for people like me are that they are not too long, so despite the fact i cant really understand what youre saying and it can be hard to focus when that is the case, i am still able to pay attention to your videos. they are also fun because you focus on onomatopoeia and add fun things like personal stories like this one, or calling your friends. it really helps show how japanese is used in different contexts and keeps it interesting.
    its a surprise you dont have more subscribers!

    There are words I learn where it is immediately obvious how they are used. And then there are some where I wonder.
    So thank you for giving me a real example of 表す! The app I was using (wanikani) translates it as "express" and does give some example sentences, but this is so much more useful. (And while the English translation does fit, I do think the usage is slightly different)
    I also noticed you said ベタベタする. I really need to get used to the versatility of する, since you would never say something like that in English.
    (Also constructions like においがする. "To do odour" doesn't make any sense in English, does it? :D I kinda like it, though.

    but more filthy thing happened the same year to my groupmate. there was a boy who would write her on social media and even tried to talk to her in person, but she blocked that boy everywhere and showed them that she is not interested. after few weeks we found out that this boy was spreading a rumor about my groupmate that she was the one who was writing him, annoying with "i like you so much" stuff. his behavior in this situation is indeed disgusting.

    I´m Brazilian and I´ve been living in Japan for about 22 years and I can´t speak Japanese the way I should. I really don't have good experiences with Japanese people in my past. I believe that´s the reason I have this block to learn Japanes. I learned English on my own just watching movies and TV shows, I´m not saying my English is of a very high standard, but I can say everything I think and feel. Forgive me for writing so much but for the first time in 22 years I really wanted to learn Japanese because of your videos. This may seem silly to everyone else, but it´s very important to me. My daughter is going to Japanese school and I feel ashamed for not being able to help her with homework. My point is, you´re being very important to me, thank you so much for recording to take your free time and give to people like me who really need helping to start unterstand basic Japanes to live here. I hope you can read my comment some day and understand how important you´re to me. From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU VERY MUCH

    Very interesting story. Once you become a doctor and actually start treating patients, you'll realize 1/4 of the patients are crazy like A-chan.

    Yeah I had an experience like this, but he turned full stalker and wouldn't leave me alone. It was crazy, and I hated how everyone thought we were going out! Moved to a different college, that sorted it, since he luckily didn't know where I live! Though recently there's been this other guy stalking me online now, from that same school :0

    Thank you for the video! Could you tell, if ベトベト is used instead if ベタベタ? In what cases and how often? As far as I've checked the dictionary, meaning is the same(

    • @Onomappu
      @Onomappu  3 роки тому +2

      Yes! But ベトベト sounds more liquid than ベタベタ. So there's a bit of difference.

    I was wondering about those cartoons that appear in you videos. I've noticed them also on other japanese learning sites/channels. They seem to be a very japanese thing and are so on the spot! Could you please tell me where one can find them?

      You can get them on the website called いらすとや. You can type a keyword and some stickers would show up.

    数年前にバスの中で英語の塾を通っている時は知らないあるべたべたする女の子が僕の座っているところに迫ってくっついてきました。僕があれーっ?でもあの時初めてそういうことが経験していなかったのでどうすればいいのかわからなくなって、数秒の間で何も言うことができなくなくて、彼女が体で僕の体の左側に擦ってしはじめた後僕が早く立ち上がってバスの後ろに行ってまして、とにかくあいつの目線から隠し果たした。でも怖いというよりも自分にイライラした、なんで何も言わなかったよとか。

    Oh, Hitoki...that IS a really creepy story. At first, I thought, well, that's not so bad and I know at that age it's easy to like someone and fool yourself into thinking there's more there than there is, but once she started making up fake dates you went on, that crossed the line from self-delusion to creepy Fatal Attraction mode. Ugh!

    Hair is very intimate. Someone touched my hair and arm at work. He was married too. I told my boss, and he stopped it. Later the guy was fired for an unrelated unforgiveable mistake in his work.

    確かに怖いね!
    たぶんAさんが「この人優しそう」と思って、she tried to take advantage of that.そういう人がけっこういますね。私はこういうことがたくさんありすぎて男性と話すことが怖くなっちゃった😅 日本に行ったとき日本人の男性がシャイだから大丈夫だと思ってたけど、けっこう怖い出会いがありました😰
    ところで、チーズの場合はネバネバといいますか?納豆みたいに糸がでるから。

      実は、チーズ🧀だけは、特別にオノマトペがあります😂例外ですね。
      トロトロをよく使います!理由はたぶん、納豆みたいにstickyではなく、stretchyしかないからだと思います。
      でも、すごくいい考え方です👍

    Japanese boys make japanese women suffer. The poor girl already did not know what to do to make you pay attention to her. I'm more confident that most said to themselves "why not".

    This may sound like a stupid question, but does onomatopoeia always use katakana? Are there any that use Kanji, maybe with the repeat 々?

    • @Onomappu
      @Onomappu  3 роки тому +1

      Ah, mostly we use katakana or hiragana but I think maybe some of them might have kanji. Anyway when we write them, we still use katakana of them instead of the kanji
