Thank you for a very informative video. I enjoyed it very much. I too think the set would be of more use, especially for new carvers, if they had included a "V" chisel instead of maybe one of the skew chisels. I would like to have known what type of wood the handles were made of. Good job on your part.
Not very sharp? Really!? You are not even going across the grain….Wooow!!!! I thought stubai was supposed to b ready to use out of the box, how much was this set 100$?
After using the set for the other projects on my channel (like the horse head carving video), I have to say that some of them where better sharpened, out of the box, than others!! I think that the steel is good but the sharpening is not 100%
You are right! Maybe a V chisel would have given the set a much more variety. I think that a V chisel is very useful and would have made the set more interesting, giving more options for the user.
I am an Austrian and I am biased with Stubai carving tools. But I must admit that I had purchased a micro tool set which I was not entirely pleased with. Some of the tools were sharp, but not honed or stropped, which meant that I need to take the time to do that myself. The V tool that was included was also not sharpened correctly, having rounded edges at the top of the V, and not matching sides. But I also must admit that usually Stubai has excellent quality carving tools. The ones in the video are sharp, but appear not to be stropped, which definitely makes a huge difference in carving.
Hi Richard, in fact you are right!! Using the carving chisels in some projects I found out that not all of them where properly sharpen, like honed or stropped. I have some other Stubai chisels and a drawnife and the quality is very good!! Maybe this carving set, or others micro carving sets they make, they are not as a high-end product has other tools they make, but I think with the proper sharpening they will perform ok. Thank you for your feedback!!
@@giosquared1349 Your assessment might be correct, that with the lower price, perhaps they did not take the time to hone and strop them properly. But hey - we are quite adept at these tasks, so before I use my micro tools, I will do the needful. Happy carving! :-)

Not sure why they didn't at least include a V chisel. That would have been more useful.

I'm sure you can find the set on Amazon (in Europe), or also in any good hardware store
Such interesting tools!! Very elegant
this looks similar to the two cherries set, but without a couple tools.
I have the same long handled knife. It is the only knife I have failed to sharpen, I simply cannot get a good edge on it.
Thank you for your comment... I haven't sharpen the knives yet!! I will see if I get the same problem.
