I remember when I was younger I wanted SF Alpha 3 badly but my parents said it was too expensive so they ended up getting SF EX Plus Alpha. I was so hurt because I never even heard of it but when I played it fell in love with it. Definitely an underrated gem!
The first time i saw this game was at the Arcade. Mad people used to play it but i never got into it. SF being 3D for me was wierd at the time but yeah i heard pretty much everyone that played it loved it.
Yeah, Maximillian Dood has been a staple in the fighting game community for years with his reviews, break downs, commentaries, and tutorials. Not to mention original funny content too and he’s been using “Sakura’s” theme from SFEX for many years for his Outro. When you hear this BGM anywhere you might be thinking someone just got done watching a Max video!

I remember owning both this and the second one back in my teens when I had a PS1 and I knew nothing of frame data, links, chains or anything, and just thought that whoever pulled off the most specials would win. This was legit my first introduction to actual fundamentals and stuff like spacing, timing and knowing how and when to juggle.
For me it was the other way around, I played this game so much that when I heard his outro I was like Sakura's theme. IMO one of the things EX got right was her theme and some of the characters like D.Dark, Garuda, C.Jack and Skullomania. If they brought those characters and Sakura's theme into the new games I'd be happy. Too bad it isn't owned by Capcom so probability wise it's pretty low. I also liked some of the supers like opening gambit and Dhalsim's one too.

The amount of blisters and sores on my fingers from trying to do these challenges and the memories of listening to Kairi, Akuma, The CYCLOIDS, AND ZANGIEFS themes on repeat basically. Brings back memories!!! This is THEE MOST UNDERRATED fighting video game EVER! Thanks Smug for making a slightly old head feel young again lol

You know it. It starts slow so if the match ends quick, you don't get the experience though. But if you in a good match, the song easily distracts you because how good it gets.

Man i don't care what anyone says, this is a GREAT game, a true gem. I used to play this for hours on end as a kid. The music is literally my favorite in the entire SF series, its godlike, the gameplay is super fun, and i loved the new characters made by AKIRA, people gave this game a bad rep back in the day just because it was a SF game that was in 3-D, but it's one of my top 3 favorite games in the series.
These were my favorite trials. I actually used some of these combos to improve my Guile play back in SF4. And that Double Flash Kick to opening Gambit literally took me YEARS to figure out! 😂

I'd just completed all the trials except this one, one or two with Doctrine Dark, and I think a Ken one back in highschool and after many painstaking days of trying I just moved on to EX2 then 3 etc. Got a job later so I just went back and bought it and a buncha other games and finally finished all the trials after trying again for a few hours. *1 This entry may refer to a historic site thought to be a shrine for gamers in the ancient past. Dhalsim, Darun, D. Dark, and Cracker Jack had some banger tracks. Skullo had a fun one, but Bison let you KNOW he was the boss. Garuda had a good map. I miss this game

Completing all of these trials was satisfying. I wouldn't have gone through them all if I didn't love the game. The music, character designs, backgrounds, it's truly amazing and something you don't see that often in more modern games. For me, the EX series will always be my favorite out of the Street Fighter games. Godlike games.

I've always loved fighting game trial modes, they feel like you're solving a bunch of puzzles. And these trials look especially challenging and fun
