    Hi Joanie, great video. Just a little suggestion..that when in future you show images as examples can you do 2 images instead of one in center, so that 1 image remain as it is (maybe left side) and on another one (right side) you can draw and show us the point that you are explaining. 😊

    Amazing, what a great video. I never thought about these things. I always just place my plates and decide if this looks nice or not. I'm having trouble with some foods while other foods just go easy. Perhaps I should consider the lines at my next photos.
    By the way, I find it very interesting that the German word "Gestalttheorie" is used in English too. Never heard about that ;).

    If the have your first item like a tea pot with a spout if the spout is pointing right would your first reaction to starting the setup of the composition be to place the pot on the left and point it right toward the open negative space? I guess I’m wondering whether some items might create an implied visual line that needs to be taken into consideration.

    Thank you so much for the video. Really interesting. I'learning food photography and I have a question. In 8:32, the frame of toast, if we read from left to right, could be better if this image is horizontally flipped ? Because looking at the image, I see that all the weight is on the right side. Or in this case this detail does not matter? Thank you in advance for your answer. Please more video about composition.

    If you are going to a client to take photos of their food.. do you just take photos of what they give you or do you style the food? What I mean is do you get involved in the prep or do you leave it to them and work with what you get given?

  • @michaelvaewhongs2579
    @michaelvaewhongs2579 3 роки тому

    Joanie, from your experience for beginners & novices, would you recommend anything else besides what stated in video (e.g. pre-planning the shot such as draw out planned composition). I suppose pros like you compose on-the-fly, spontaneously. I notice my food photographs are "boring" though the actual food tastes great and has many textures and ingredients.

    Ok, since you like gardening, I wonder if any photographer has used some of the permaculture design patterns to compose their photos. (If you don't know permaculture design, search Geoff Lawton's videos.) There are almost never straight lines in nature, so it makes me wonder why we are so preoccupied with them in art.

  • @tomermeged
    @tomermeged 8 місяців тому

    I love your videos - thank you. but I must say I cannot really see those lines, not the way they are marked by you. I look at it and try to see where the lines are before you expose them and 9 out of 10 I see it completely different. Am I approaching it wrong?

  • @taisoncisz7966
    @taisoncisz7966 3 роки тому

    Overall your videos are amazing and I cannot express enough how much i like them.
    But here, “the eyes see what they want to see”. And in a few cases for me you were looking for lines that are just not there. So for people there are learning through this video is quite “dangerous” because of instead of using lines on their compositions, they are going to “try to find lines to justify their composition”, that are just not there.
