One if not the best reviews from this channel without all the fluff and unnecessary commentary and jokes. Well done, bravo!
I got mine XLE equipped with the 12 inch display , heated and ventilated seats , all the goodies . Except the moon roof , the all view camera , the lighted signs on the door . Everything else I have it. I absolutely love my new venza . Black on black . I also love the fact that is not leather , this material last longer . Love it!!
First new car I bought in 30 years. It gets 500 miles on $ 35 worth of gas. You don't have to worry about charging it . It's beautiful, luxurious and cheap. It's the best SUV for the money period. I bought Toyota stock (TM) after I bought the car and am ahead it that. I will never buy another fully gas car again unless it's a vintage drive on Sunday job.
I’m Japanese. And I’m a big fan of Harrier.
When i heard this car is called “venza” in US, I’m a little bit confused.
In Japanese, venza (べんざ) means “toilet seat”(便座).
TOYOTA! I love you!
Looked it up and you're correct. Thanks Toyota!
Pretty much Toyota is in toilet if they don't convert to EV, including subsidiaries like Subaru!
hahaha, its like our AUDI brand call it´s "e-tron" car....but the french people are confused because "etron" means in french "pile of shit " ! :-)
kubanskiloewe omg 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂
SM I hope you are kidding! No way. I don’t want to ride toilet seat!
I love the fact that it’s not leather. For the most part automotive leather is cheap and plastic feeling anyways. Also this material will still look new in 10 years while the real leather will be worn. Really the most important thing in a car seat is cooled seats for these stupid hot Missouri summers.
@Todd m our car has real leather, our daughter has the lexus faux leather both are the same year 2013 hers has 100k miles ours has 60k miles but her seats still look brand new ours have the cracks and the usual marring of leather even with me conditioning and taking care of it!
I would be willing to go with the faux leather on a Toyota/ lexus after seeing what its like......
We've had our Venza Limited for just over a year now and love it. It's comfortable and quiet to drive, especially on the highway. It always has enough power (just did a 1300 mile road trip down the west coast, up and down mountain passes). I do wish the moonroof opened but I appreciated the ability to block out the sun but not have a dark interior. I also wish we could have got a tan interior with the Blueprint blue exterior. We are currently averaging 38.1 mpg (from day 1) which is amazing. As Motoman says, it is nicer than a RAV4 which is what we wanted but at the time, we found the Venza nicer inside than the Lexus NX and the RX was too expensive.
PS it has an eCVT not a regular CVT. Very different and you can definitely tell the difference when driving the Venza.
It’s nice to see a review of a car that is relatively affordable.
@Todd m not at US$45K for no leather!
Here’s Venza meaning according to Toyota: Venza is a combination of the words “venture” and “Monza,” a city in Northern Italy with a race course named Autodromo Nazionare Monza.
I noticed that all the reviewers complain about the lack of knobs and physical buttons. That's only on the limited trim. The two lower trims do have knobs and physical buttons. I just bought the xle and it's a nice car.
Do u know if you can get the xle with the upgraded stereo/speakers without getting the push buttons?
I always wonder if reviewers say the same about the lack of buttons in Teslas and other electric/high end cars. I look at all the layers of screens you have to go through on some cars (eg. go through the screen to get the heated seats turned on or adjust the side mirrors) and then think the Venza is pretty simple and straightforward.
We got out 2022 Venza XLE in Blizzard Pearl 3-months ago. Love it so far. We had to wait 2-months to take delivery as the shipments from the factory in Japan were delayed. Apparently Venza deliveries are currently delayed even longer today.
I’m not happy about it not having nobs for the volume control but there are buttons on the steering wheel that work just as well
Great review of the new Venza. I will probably wait until 2022 and see what the next gen Lexus RX becomes before deciding between the two however.
Thank you for an excellent, objective review. It seems people either love or hate the Venza. I've been leaning hard toward one since their reintroduction. If we hadn't bought a Camry Hybrid in 2020, it would have been a Venza. Now I'm trying to be patient until the 2023's come out, but it won't be easy.
The LE and XLE both have knobs for HVC and volume!!
Great review! Had no idea this was already out in the US, although I’m familiar with the original harrier. Also didn’t the harrier used to be the same as the Lexus RX?
yeah, but then Japan got Lexus, so they are seperate now
You are indeed correct. The Harrier was the JDM Lexus RX. However, the separated out the platforms starting with this car. So a JDM Harrier is now equivalent to our US Venza.
This ride will be a major hit with the empty nesters not wanting to dig too deep into their retirement savings, and not look too pompous in this down economy.
Funny you say that. My FAA Doctor saw the car here at the airport when we were filming it and was intrigued. He showed to his wife that day and fast forward to last week, they now have one! And yes, they are empty nesters.
Us too. Retired empty nesters. Went in for a Highlander, left with Venza Limited.
1 .. that faux-leather sounds fine to me.
2 .. agree on the buttons; give me nobs! (dirty!)
3 .. agreed on the closing price points.
Waiting to see how well she comes off into the real world . . . I have a Venza (1st Gen) and would love to trade in for another Venza, especially a hybrid Venza, when the time comes!
Which one will you prefer
Rav4 prime or venza?
You're not wrong about this being, looking or feeling like a "Lexus." The 1st 2 generation of RX is technically a rebadge Toyota Harrier.
I hate “stadium seating”, it feels like you’re sitting on stools plus less headroom
I just bought venza hybrid limited I love it good on gas very comfortable quiet lexus like thanks for sharing your video take care bye from milton Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
I rented a LE base model. And I really like it. Considering that it has a lot standard for less than $35k.
The LE has physical buttons
3:44 - system cuts off at 110 mph ?? that would be never ?
Would love this with 4 cylinder and 6 speed automatic .
Hybrids are going to be expensive to repair .
Marktuyet hybrids require less maintenance
Your best bet is to not buy a used hybrid with over 75k miles on it.
this is a review of a new car and all new cars will be reliable for the first 5-7 years
Or call it the NX Hybrid without the Lexus badge. Because that’s what this is...
NX is smaller so no
The plastered on infotainment screen....it looks so bad. Maybe if the bezel was thin, but regardless this style won’t age well
Why Toyota do not lorn Honda’s lesson? Give us the nubs! I’m tired to push that buttons in my Prius. It’s so confusing and unsafe. With out exploring each time you will not find that buttons
Rubber engine covers more pedestrian friendly Motoman! Not sure about the bonnet above it, mind...
Rubber kills softly
As far as I know the Rav4 platform is smaller than that of the rx. I'd love to see an rx with short wheel base, like the land cruiser that I own
Venza 2021 very nice I love it, when they release?
Lovely design but here are some concerns.
1. It's larger than a RAV4 but smaller on the inside.
2. Less headroom than a RAV4, and even less with the sunroof.
3. No volume knob on the larger 10" screen.
4. The rear turn signal lights are integrated into the bumper and are too low.
5. Offer it as a plug-in hybrid.
6. Would prefer a moonroof (opens to the elements) than a sunroof with the glass that frosts on/ off.
7. Three inches shorter than the old Venza.
8. Touch-sensitive controls are a disappointment.
Point 6: TOTALLY agree.
Point 7: If some one disagree, read point 6
I was also concerned about the rear turn signal lights but realized if you can't see them when driving behind a Venza, you're probably too close to it. And when you see them, especially at night, the lights are very bright.
Motoman, why did you wait until about one minute left in the video to show us a shot of the outside of the car?!! And it was some off angle shot on top of that. Most of the time the camera was on the ground or in the backseat.
Well aware that A LOT of Toyota Venza videos came out today but perhaps you and I are not watching the same one: there is a FULL 3/4 view of the car at 0:15 . . . ua-cam.com/video/rWabMwsGWsY/v-deo.html
Fantastic review of a really nice car, thank you.
Thanks, Rich!
there is no cvt there
Ok that sunroof would be a big selling point for me and why can’t we have a version of that on the side windows so we don’t have to install tint anymore?
TOTALLY with ya on that idea!
Because you cant see through it when activated.
Even Toyota offers a better infotainment system than Lexus..
those turn signals are just stupid, way too low to see easily in traffic (even with the side mirror signals augmenting)
just like on kia/hyundais
I thought the same thing. But if you can't see them, you're probably too close to the Venza in front of you. Also, now that I have one and have seen other Venzas, the rear turn signal lights are very bright, especially when you see them at night.
Gives us knobs!
The lower end trims with the 8 inch touch screen have knobs. I prefer the look of that version too.
I would totally get this if it had v6. Scared of hybrids. Aren’t they expensive to replace battery?
wont be for a while unless u drive 25k mi a year
Worry Less Smile More The batteries can be rebuilt. The individual cells are replaceable. The hybrid battery will generally last 15 years and 300k miles so it’s really nothing to worry about.
It’s a proven technology. Toyota has been doing hybrid since the 90s and they know what they are doing. Plus they provide a very nice warranty for the hybrid battery- 10 years/ 150k miles.
Batteries also have a 10 year warranty .
A very proven and robust system
When will Taiwan sell this good car
I don't agree with your title. It might be factual that the platforms are the same. It might be factual that it is cheaper. But that is about where it ends. You cannot claim a VW Passat is the same as a Mercedes C class. The quality is too far apart. ;) Same here trying too say the Venza is just a less expensive Lexus RX. Toyota makes reliable long lasting vehicles. And some of their upper trims can get nice interior. But Lexus is 2 steps above in luxury quality.
This is a Buick!
I do agree that this car is on par with lexus...have had both.
Is it really quiet? I test drove the LE and it sounded like their was allot of tire noise. Can anybody confirm it’s in fact the tires and the car is truly well sound insulated?
I’d like to know that too
I did find our Limited is quieter than the XLE that I test drove. I find the Limited very quiet to drive but yes, there is tire noise due to the low rolling resistance tires. If they bother you, you can always change the tires. The Venza will be even more quiet. When I turn on the JBL sound system, especially the SPA channel on Sirius, it is wonderful.
Can it tow?
No
This product should have been the next-gen Lexus NX. I have no idea why it was brought to the USDM as a Toyota.
cause Lexus will definitely have a new NX. Theres no reason why they need to rebadge a successful Toyota model to a Lexus. Harriers are extremely popular in Japan and the rest of Asia. Like here in Malaysia.
@@ronnardkoay570 , yeah, but when? lexus' lineup is aging and they aren't giving the brand nearly the attention that it needs to remain competitive. The latest IS iteration, which remains on the same chassis and is using carryover drivetrains was a pathetic attempt at a quasi-new model. For the record, I own a 2018 IS 350 F Sport, and I love it. It's great, but if I were in the market for a new vehicle today, there is nothing new and exciting within the Lexus lineup. The Harrier, which, if you recall, was the original Lexus RX, would have been a great place for the Lexus team to start to form the next-gen NX.
@@djcoronel i agree that Lexus seems to be slacking in 2020.. the 2021 IS is indeed irritating.. but the next generation NX is coming in 2021, RX in 2022.. and possibly the new LF1 too.. Lexus is obviously ditching their sedans and focusing on SUVs..
@@ronnardkoay570 Because their SUVs are massively sold in North America!
@@ronnardkoay570 which isn't a smart move - the German competition still has a very strong sedan lineup. Lexus should, of course, be focused on SUVs and CUVs, but to abandon its sedan and coupe lineup is foolish.
...so this is Toyota's Buick?
Good point. It's cousin, the Lexus RX (also based on the Harrier) is a major hit with the silverhairs, the geriatrics and the empty nesters. :)
Harrier may have become Hairier if it had attempted to cross the Pacific.
I will buy this venza car.
Did you buy one? I just bought one a 2021. Happy.
Pushed hard, this Venza does not impress with the strained 4 cylinder.
Then - who pushed cars like these hard? Heck - I like to drive fast, but even I rarely rev over 5k rpm :P
@@skagerstrom Not sure the answer is to just drive slower. I have to merge into NY traffic on the highway during rush hour, so pretty hard to not push the car to get that done. I don't think I go above 5k much either, but certainly over 4k is pretty common in my commute driving.
But that 40 MPG, though.
@@oldschool1928 All depends on the priority. I would rather have some better performance, and don't need 40 mpg at this point.
The venza is a hybrid. The Harrier is not a hybrid.
When you get the tech numbers wrong does anything else you say become true?
Who the hell buys that car to squeal around turns, corners and mountain curves? If I wanted that I would bring my Nizzan 300Z or Mazda RX7 (3rd gen). Every car reviewer flooring and cornering a highway cruiser is killing me.
Get real. Ptich? Geeze.
Toyota wants you to upgrade to Lexus if you want leather seats. For me, I have a dog so no leather seats on the Venza will be perfect
Yeah and it works. Seen a lot of people with Toyota get tired of the rougher interior comfort and eventually come back with a Lexus.
It's too small for North America.
too many overweight americans lol
A shorter RX hybrid at a $ 15,000 discount is the last sentence in this review. Why would anyone buy a lexus unless they want to show off the fact that they can afford one. Show off what? Not their intelligence.
Lexus are more comfortable especially if you're doing longer trips. There's a reason the rx is the most popular SUV.
Its ygly
the argument of a 15k cheaper rx doesn't make sense. v6 naturally aspirated hp vs hybrid hp. cvt vs 8 speed auto. less space. less warranty. the rx will have less issues over the life of the vehicle. every reviewer is saying the same thing about the rx vs venza. they shouldn't be in the same conversation imo. also if you can afford the high end venza do yourself the favor and spend a bit more and just get the lexus.
Prefer vegan fake leather over the real thing please, it lasts longer too without peeling cracking. The lack of dials etc is a showstopper, yes I would not buy because of the infotainment system.
We are supposed to get away from plastics and move toward renewable sources. So let’s use leather. BUT WAIT! We need to be vegan so let’s go back to plastic and vinyl. Hmmm. Which political group will win??
Nice review as always and to all reading this stay safe and God bless, Yeshua (Jesus Christ) is the way the truth and the life.
Cvt?!! Noooooo
E-CVT
I really hate this overpriced boring mom's car trend
Andrey Ivanov Actually main target layer is young men. Young Japanese guys really love this affordable dignified SUV for urban life.
Toyota/Lexus world's largest auto company has an irrevocable policy "WE MUST BUILD ONLY UGLY AUTOS DESIGNED BY CHEAPEST TALENT WE CAN HIRE". Ugry is the word, ugry, ugry ,ugry, all our ploducts must be ugry, ugry, ugry.
