Neighbours watching Bjørn shovel snow _into_ his driveway, wondering if he's finally lost his mind :) Jokes aside, tests like these are interesting - what settings and tricks you should use in each car to maximise your chances of not getting stuck.
"Clarkson style" mixed with Mariachi music and a quote from Holy Grail -- I'm getting continental whiplash! 😀 (love the capability of our Solterra, "fast charging" CATL pack not so much)
I know there’s a video where someone tests a bz4x up a ski slope. It did well. Could’ve been Toyota themselves, though, in which case the video doesn’t prove very much.
Need a camera from the other side too so we can see what wheels are spinning and not. To determine how well it works. Or not. Could also try the cars on a set of rollers.... Dont know how expensive those are.. but cant be too much. Completely pathetic results by the way, from both cars.... I mean, what's the problem? Why dont the other wheels move? They even have 2 motors I suppose? So theres not even the regular center diff problem to overcome..... A tip for the manufacturers..... "IF wheelspin THEN increase break pressure".. and in this case "IF no wheelspin THEN decrease brake pressure/increase power" Try those highly advanced formulas for once. I wont charge you for it.
"Unscientific". Yup, for sure. But thanks for the demo anyway. Best thing for me, seems to be the "grip" mode, which as near as I can tell from your demo hands the throttle control over to the car. Since correctly modulating the throttle is one of the hardest things for a human driver when dealing with slippery conditions, this seems like a great feature to have, and I've never heard of it in any other car. That said, end of the day, the biggest factor in dealing with snow is (as no doubt you know) the tires, and any tire not actually true snow tire is going to struggle, especially in warmer conditions like here. If the grip's not there, there's just nothing the car can do, even with AWD. Smart isn't available in the US, and I see lots of other reasons to avoid the BZ4X/Solterra, so probably neither of these cars are going to be considered for a future purchase, for me anyway. But I still found this "unscientific" demo interesting to watch, and I'm glad you made it. :)
It''s unacceptable for dual motor EVs not to have a function for locked all wheels, as it's all digital. Car makers doing the bare minimum lazy ass scumbags or hell even worse, doing the Electronic Arts move, to take out functionality from the complete software only to sell it as an extra function.
Apparently F1 race car aerodynamics testing has shown these dual spoilers to be more effective at providing slip. That’s why we see it on those cars. But I just heard this somewhere, can’t confirm.
toyota have been reducing their quality for over a decade now. All they are working towards is "optimizing" their parts to oblivion so that they can predict and force you to visit the dealer/service. Everything is designed to star failing just when the warranty expires. Or earlier if the warranty doesn't cover it. - Got sued for false advertising - Guilty. Paid to cover the story. - Caught hiding emissions documentation for their hybrids (wonder why...) - Guilty. Paid $180M to cover the story. - Multiple recalls for safety failures. - Guilty. Paid to cover the story. - Receiving $7,891,352,312 in subsidies and grants just in the US. - Got into a deal with the Saudis and received billions in funding to keep selling gas vehicles. The deal is to fool the African market with gas cars so that this boosts petrol consumption. - Has partnerships with Australia to import hydrogen from coal and gas. Toyshita is the most greedy and anti-consumer company out there.

I like that you choose same color to keep things fair.
Your neighbours must be looking out their windows and think "what the heck?"
Yeah like:look Helga, he’s shoveling snow onto the lane now… well, well, well
It's 44 degrees Celsius for a week already in Thailand bro dying over here need some snow
Maybe they don't have snow in China? 😂
Love this new test. When it snows at your house, hope to see this test more often.
You should do more of those kind of videos!

I wish you did actual steep like like the Model X back in the day

I love the enthusiasm you bring to ev’s. Can you do a range test with byd seal U ?
Had my $ on the Toybaru in X-mode. Thanks for also showing us how the settings work for Grip mode.
I know the standard of living in Norway is good but man, the bloody weather - that would get me down.
Snow makes everything very bright in the night though :)
Snow performance in EVs worries me, with so many of them being rear wheel drive. More of this sort of thing please!
Always Be Crawling uphill 😃

I'm curious about Audi, cause quatro... Is the e tron that good as well? 🤔
Both had poor traction for all-wheel drive.
Bjørn The Time Traveler.
Recorded mid April but released start April 🤔😂
The Smart is only AWD in Brabus mode. It’s 2WD in ECO, Comfort & Sport mode.
@@logitech4873 I missed that I’ll take a look
No look at 1m40s only the rear wheels are spinning.
Would be seriously stupid to only have 2WD in Sport at least....
@@martinsvensson6884 I only use Brabus mode. I’m pretty sure you could drift a roundabout in sport mode🤣
@@garrycroft4215 At 1:50 you can see the front wheels spin. So they are engaged.
Also, you dont see the other side.
Subaru does not mess around

What? We had 25 C and more in Switzerland yesterday and also today.
Norwegian science! Uuuuh, like a VIKING😉
🤣🤣🤣 try this with my Paulchen (the red) Panther MY 2024 😉
Whate the ugly spoiler pieces on each side of the roof line for? Saw the same ugly design on a Volvo C40 earlier today.

You do know that smart #1 brabus and smart #3 brabus ONLY have 4WD in Brabus mode, right?
They need electric snowmobile mode 😊
The camera got so scared it closed it's eyes!! 😅
Both failed
Would have been interesting to try a Model 3 LR as a comparison.
Agreed. It effortlessly made it up a steep slippery slope in one of Bjorns previous tests.
Already tested and Tesla was king.
❤❤❤
the brabus also wins on the design front... bz4x is just so ugly...:facepalm
Especially inside. It's a typical car for a typical old Toyota driver. No wonder why they never do more than 80kmph 😅
I think kia Ev9 GT line can make it !

The Beezyforks is a ten pinter. A mother could love it but only just. I think it was meant for blind people.
