I worked at Red Lobster in central Florida and worked 45 hours last week . I picked up shifts trained a new server whose first solo night serving out of training was the day before on Mothers Day. The store I worked at was literally a big family I had been there 2.5 years V but 4 of my co workers had been there over 30-35 years. Looking for another serving job but this is our slow season so it will be hard to find something for all of us right away. It was such a crappy way to end things where we don’t even get to say goodbye to people we’ve spent more time with than our families some days. It’s devastating to me. I feel hopeful for a new beginning but depressed that I miss everyone so much. Anyone else here get blindsided like this before?

10% of a chain restaurants is a pretty good chunk and is usually the first step in damage control. Often they're followed up with another wave of closing after they realize the first wave didn't work. And the first wave seldom works.

The "product" is raised in pens to where disease runs wild, the fish and such are sick and people eat it. Go for wild caught fish at your local market and then cook it yourself.

Lets face the bigger picture here. These franchise restaurants are all beginning to struggle. They're expensive, the food isn't that great, they're all built near each other around malls, shopping centers and freeway off ramps and they're all corporate owned and operated. Meanwhile we're seeing a resurgence of the neighborhood bar & pub which are less like bars and more like restaurants with full kitchens and menus. They're closer, they're priced better, the food is as good or better and they're mostly locally owned.
With the cost of everything, it's an expensive restaurant to eat at. You take a family of 4, a couple of alcoholic beverages and tip...heck you aint coming out of there for less than $150.
