Indian navy bought HMS Hermes from UK and was renamed as INS Vikrant. It served our nation till 2017 and finally got scrapped. a legendary ship which helped our navy alot in Kargil War Once again Thnx UK 🇬🇧
My Father would of been on her during those years. Tony Glover (Anthony) originally from Pudsey West Yorkshire was a Petty officer boiler room operator. He’s still with us bless him and just turned 85.

"Indian navy bought HMS Hermes from UK and was renamed as INS Vikrant"
Vikrant was much lighter, of other (Colossus) class and never served in RN
I served on her 1967-1968 - 4J2 Mess. Many memories. Thank you for the upload.
wow you very old like 80s
@@aniqku1754Age mid 70's 😁
fish head , love you
My father served on Hermes at some stage, not 100% sure what year(s) it was.

She was a commando carrier when I served on her from 1974-76, we had marine detachments and a helicopter fleet.
A fascinating ship with a remarkably long career.
nothing was said about terrific Type 984 radar which gave Hermes outstanding capabilities
Also of matter of interest was Phantom (USN) tests on her
What was the other carrier shown?
HMS Ark Royal
at 8:46 there is Skyraider AEW which operated from other Centaurs, but AFAIK never from Hermes
Spent a year in dry dock 1980 whilst they welded that nose on the sharp end , ruined the figure that was once a Centaur class carrier
I wonder how many of those bridals used on launch litter the oceans.
on the Ark Royal they install bridle catchers in 70s. If Hermes survived as CATOBAR carrier in 70s she would have it too (I suppose)
Those poor women!
I got ahold of picture of here signed
Is this just a part 1?
Indeed. There is a lot more to tell. Hopefully we can see it soon please.
