Dee Dee Mr Don....your channel is so fantastic, in that you are showing tools and machines others do not show...... .I will probably never get to use something like this, but it is rally inspiring......Paul
DeeDee, Your are having fun and so am I. The Wohlhaupter is like jewelry, though it would be kinda heavy to wear around. I’ve dug out a couple of my old chucks, both of them need new adapter plates so these videos are going to be put to good use later this year. Thanks, TB
That was fun to share, I did not think it would finish so nicely, a very pleasant surprise. I normally did this on the lathe using a face plate before I bought that facing head
@@deedeeindustrialsuperprecision I can see the lathe being a natural choice for chuck adapter plates. It was pretty amazing to see that Wohlhaupter setup on your restored mill creating such a beautiful finish. Cast iron, even if the carbon makes it a little dirty, is sure a fun material to work with. I’m looking forward to seeing you checking the scrolls and grinding in the jaws. I’ve got a lot to learn and not enough years to learn as much as I want! Cheers, TB
Nice Video Dee. The Wholhuapter is quite a refinement on the Chandler heads I use. I am liking your recent videos, due subjects that have not been beat to death by others. Cheers
Time frame wise these heads were being replaced by CNC in the 1980s so those that used them are getting pretty old. I have an advantage by making cutters specifically for it and a lot of machine time using it. The key to using it is being able to adjust the cutters, or use very expensive inserts and have a good selection of them. I find it entertaining to find myself on TV.
Are you sure that Wohlhaupter facing head doesn't have that micro-angle built-in for facing concave ..... seeings as how it's a dedicated purpose tool ?

Just Don D, thanks for watching, some of these things you may be able to apply to your machines
Loving the solid and reliable old tech!
Yes, no batteries required, thanks for tuning in!
That head is a work of art I would love to have one.
They are out there, and can go for reasonable prices
@@deedeeindustrialsuperprecision I have been watching them on eBay. Wide range of prices. Not sure what’s reasonable. We’ll talk.

Very interesting boaring head, great job Dee Dee.....
Those were a hot item pre CNC
I always look forward to your videos. I learn so much. Thanks for sharing your time and knowledge.
Thanks for all that!
I'm anxious to see you redo the taper on the back plate. nice video thanks
Yes, will use the Tree head for that
That cuts really nice. I’m looking for a criterion head for my mill. Thanks again for sharing!
I am really happy with it better than expected.

The angle is not built in, the concave can be controlled to a small degree by depth of cut and the tension on the gib.
