Game shouldn’t be hyped up anyways or else people will expect to much out of the game and they can potentially do what Cyberpunk 2077 did. This is just a tech demo. Imagine what a game studio could do if they really went for it. Not just games, really. Film, television, and really... visual media, in general, benefit from Unreal Engine 5 as well.
Films & TV already do. It's called "cinematography". Real time rendering.
This could be used for architecture and engineering as well if purposed well.
When it comes to films I hate too much use of CGI, practical effects will always have value
@@bushisback112 you don't hate CGI, you hate shitty CGI. if everything was photorealistic you'd never be able to tell the difference, plus CGI does a lot that practical effects just can't do.
@@Scripzure I said I hate too much use of CGI, there's a small number of movies that have used it well. A real life car chase scene will always look better than CGI. Theres a reason practical effects are still used often and not everything is CGI, and you're so wrong that nobody would tell the difference. CGI looks real when its a still shot, but when there's movement you can easily see how fake it looks.
Graphics are great yes but the real impressive part for me is the streaming power of the engine. I did not see a single pop in even while game world is extremely rich plus, this is a console demo.
I think that's the strength of the "nanites".
My PS5 experienced FPS drops to 20 fps when crashing cars though, still impressive anyway cuz I understand
The PS5 has hardware to stream and decompress assets from the SSD without the main CPU needing to do anything. Normally (like on everything else, including PCs) that's done in software. It allows more freedom for level design too - most games include "corridor" or "elevator" sections to hide parts of the map that are loading in. The PS5 doesn't need that.

The size of the map makes it look like a movie. The lanes are so wide and building are so big. This is a massive map.

This is pretty cool, they haven't fully mastered human animation but locations and objects are perfectly done.
Exactly how I think. They mastered the graphics, now the crowd and etc AIs and such.
More to do with it being a demo than the actual tech though

i don't think that's true. there are limits to the human eye, once we get far enough along there won't be anything to improve.
@@Setton48 yes you are right, but this is still far from perfect. It’s top right now but things like frame rate and load times can still improve. Car destruction and destructibles are also still not where they could be. All dependent on processing power. Visually maybe not much more room to evolve but engine wise still room for improvement. Imagine this video at 150 even 60 solid frames and 80% of the map can be destroyed. That’s a nightmare for todays engines still

I think the next major revision should be mimicking the human eye more, and body movement. Almost all instances look uncanny

Poor compression or signal quality can also give the illusion that it's more realistic, though. Like how people always make their supernatural hoax videos low quality so it's harder to tell the faked bits.
This demo is actually better than full Cyberpunk game OMEGALUL
This is what Cyberpunk envisioned it few years ago, it takes an Unreal Engine to make this. It's almost uncanny.

@@HamzaDesigns1 Well, they plan to use Unreal Engine 5 for the next Witcher game. Won't be a modern setting like this game, but we can still imagine what it'd look like.
Fun fact: The Mandolorian uses unreal to render their background shots in real time, projecting them on big screens on set.
I know this is just a demo but if I could criticize one thing, it would definitely be the animations for general human movement. The part where Keanu was walking and the other female’s face was talking were dead giveaways for being fake considering how realistic the graphics looked. This is incredibly excited nonetheless, I can’t wait to see future games utilizing UE5 to its fullest potential

I feel like there's no way an experience this insane doesn't come with radiation poisoning or some weird catch. How X's console wasn't literally melting down, especially with unloading and loading an entire city's worth of npc assets....I don't understand how or why any of this works. No hiccups during the fast travel????? NO LOADING OR POP-IN WHEN ENTERING NEW CHUNKS???????

Well first off. It can only run at 30 fps and it drops to like. 20 or 15 if you drive in a car fast enough. Also. While it looks amazing graphically. I wouldnt say it has unique in depth complex combat, or anything. So im sure not having to manage code for things like that frees up some space for more graphics stuff. Regardless though. Its still really impressive. They must of took a lot of time to optimize it to run as it does now
every single texture pops in, its just lodded progressively with higher resolution with the nanite system instead of being static, thats why the game size isint 1TB+
@@e.m.pikachu6700 they didn’t really optimise exactly this game demo, rather they optimised the entire engine so this is possible. When u realise what they did with nanite and lumen it makes sense. Absolutely amazing effort by unreal engine devs

Another thing people don’t realize is that they said Unreal Engine 5 doesn’t fully compact ALL the data of an open works at once. The area you’re in is it’s own data that comes in and the distance background is data going OUT… I’m not sure how to put it but it basically means they can compile more data and information without it taking up as much space and using more processing like other software including Unreal Engine 4. I wish I was smart enough to explain it but I can only comprehend it just enough.
You mean rendering distance? This is ancient tech. I made a project once that only rendered what the camera saw. It didn't fully unload what the camera didn't see, i made it so the unseen was not visually there but the functions, colliders, sound and events were still happening. It saved up a lot on memory usage tho it was not perfect, unloading takes up a portion of memory and with the tech i used it didnt do the job fast enough for me to spin around the camera without noticing it. When you said area, do you mean like chunks?
@@zekay_ I can’t explain things like how you did bc I can’t think of the words. Rendering distance is ancient but I meant the tech they’re using now that allows it to focus better on everything around it whether it’s created or not even when zooming in and out. And it definitely takes a TON of space in memory but with Unreal Engine 5 it can effectively do this without taking too much data bc not all the data is there. As it backs away or you leave an area done if the data seemingly “vanishes” / takes up much less space while stuff closer to you downloads the data it needs back up so it uses the extra space. I’m not sure how to explain better than that maybe I’m confusing what they described in detail from what I read.

It’s cool and all but let’s be real here , no company will make their game look like this cause it could turn out extremely buggy and unpolished , most games that used UE4 didn’t use it to the max , the same will be for this engine until better hardware is released
The reason why a majority of UE4 games didn't push their limits of their graphics was because a lot of companies were transitioning from the Unity Engine to the UE4 engine. The majority of gaming companies used unity because UE3 was pretty bad. It wasn't good for producing levels and it wasn't worthwhile when something else did it better. However when UE4 was released, they redesigned the way the entire engine worked and it provided a nice combination of accessible, as well as simple, ways to get things running with a higher-quality output. Not to mention, it also enabled the ability to reach beneath the surface and change things on a deep and complex level. A few of the later games that used UE4 were able to push UE4 to an extent that a majority of current hardware would be able to handle. With the release of UE5 and the way it upgraded, added, and reinvented the technology used within it, you can expect a lot of games to look good without much work. You can expect a lot of companies to switch over from their current engine to UE5 because of how polished it is.

people need to keep in mind that in a full game, it can look this good and be far better optimized, even on console. This is a free demo, so there wasn't endless money put towards optimization, but the best developers are very creative, and can optimize something that looks even this good, to improve the frame rate, and other bugs like shadows that were present. On PC it will be insane though

UE5 is gorgeous, but I still think that they haven't got the humans down right, from the walking, mannerisms and how "natural" the face looks, but I'm really excited at how VR games made in UE5 would look, I feel like we only need a small push to truly make a VR game that feels like the real world
