    great lesson. Perfect chord voicings, flawless strumming. I'm trying to play that F/G chord with two fingers like you do, but my "muscle memory" seems to cause me to get my index finger on the D string, and thus I'm playing it more like a G9 chord. Have to work on that.

    • @DavePriceGuitarist
      @DavePriceGuitarist  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks Richard. You can play that chord a number of ways, this is just the way I saw Nile Rogers play it. You could also play it as a single barre although you would have to be careful about muting the outside strings.

    Hi
    This is awesome playing. Thank you.
    The explanation of the strumming pattern in the chorus was not to me clear. Sorry. I think what you were saying was
    (4) + (1) & a 2- e - + (a) 3 + 4 +
    D d u D u d D D D
    D =down strum U=up strum d =down strum muted u=up strum muted ( ) = do not strum
    Well this is how I am interpreting it all and applying it to my strumming pattern.
    I love the chord patterns by the way.
    This is not aiming to be a criticism - I love the way you are playing this but struggled to understand it fully at the part related to the strumming pattern in the chorus.
    I have it now.
    Thank you again! You are such a great guitarist!.

    Your video with the HC-V110 is very crisp and clear. What are your settings? I have the same camera and my vids often come out grainy.

      +Reneguitario Thanks. I learnt early on that you need a lot of lighting to get clear videos out of this camcorder. I just a have a cheap video light. When I turn them on it looks like broad daylight in the room. When I play along to yours its fine but when I play with the original it seems slightly out of key. Have you modded the pitch?

    • @DavePriceGuitarist
      @DavePriceGuitarist  3 роки тому +1

      I made up my own backing track so that is at concert pitch. Some older recordings fall in between pitches.

    Hi Dave, just love your lessons. Is there any chance that you would look at Get life back to music with Daft Punk? I am struggeling with the funky guitar in the intro that is playing with the distorted guitar :-)

    Hey Dave are the guitar positions different on the studio recording compared to the way Nile plays it live? I noticed he plays the A and G on the 12th and 10th fret positions in the live versions where you can see his fingers. Not that it really matters I suppose but I'm just curious.

    • @DavePriceGuitarist
      @DavePriceGuitarist  8 років тому +1

      +Tan Gerine Not that important, I've seen him play it both ways. He often mixes up his chord voicings when playing live.

    Dam man you are so close, the chorus is wrong but you're the ONLY one who's picked up on the chromatic run haha check out his interviews, he shows the shapes he uses with the pull offs etc :)

    This is A Mixolydian fyi, not A major

    • @DavePriceGuitarist
      @DavePriceGuitarist  4 роки тому

      Hi Peter, although I would agree that this is a Mixolydian chord progression it is still in the key of A major. Keys are expressed in a basic major and minor tonality and not by their many scale variations. A Mixolydian scale is basically a major scale with a b7 interval so it’s basic tonality is major. As a working guitarist I have seen the sheet music for this song many times and it’s always shown in the key of A major with accidentals added for the necessary adjustments. A good reason why keys are expressed this way would be the song House of the Rising Sun. The song is in the key of A minor yet it borrows harmony from the Dorian and Harmonic minor scale. It would be ludicrous to describe the key of that song as A natural/dorian/harmonic minor so we simply say A minor. I hope that helps.
