I miss Renato too man. As for Conceicao, the guy obviously has a bright future and the talent is there, he just needs to be polished. He shouldn’t even be asked to play in this tournament with the team we had, and yea he took the ball forward, but 99% of his runs ended with a bad cross into the box.

Granted I think Neto shouldn’t been our RW over Bernardo and Leao on the left then sub Leao for jota or Felix and have ramos or jota as the striker this would’ve made us so much more dangerous
As someone who is Portuguese and loves Ronaldo, it pains me to watch him like this he would be ridiculous as super sub at 60-70 mins in, no CB in the world would be comfortable with this situation but it just doesn't happen, I would have loved to see Jota start, link play more, create spaces for Leão to run behind, for Bruno to go forward more, to let the game flow more, with Ronaldo we have one way of playing right now, slow, predicable, easy to defend against. It honestly feels like we're hostages of Ronaldo and it doesn't need to be this way, he can contribute, be the standard for professionalism for everyone on the team, make the locker room and atmosphere elite among the elites and keep it there for years to come but the Portuguese Federation and national team coach have to be able to take that leap asap.
Great point, the problem is, the federation is in love with Ronaldo (and rightfully so) but yes ur right he can contribute in different ways, I honestly wouldn’t mind seeing him take on the role as a coach even, he can guide the young players and be a leader. You nailed it man 200% this is exactly the problem playing with Ronaldo for 90 min is way to predicable because Ronaldo is way to limited now he needs the ball fed to him exactly otherwise he’s useless as painful as that is to say but the team shouldn’t have to cater that hard to 1 player we need someone who can do the work themselves and jota is that guy

To much service to Ronaldo who offers very little of anything else, even Ramos would’ve been more useful as he can at least run and create space where Ronaldo can’t anymore vs defenders in there prime. This was the entire reason passes were “poor” because Ronaldo isn’t running where he needs too this doesn’t work and it was a huge hinderance to Portugal. Ronaldo also shouldn’t be playing the 90 minutes every game we are letting guys like jota rot on the bench who is easily our best direct forward just to serve Ronaldo. He’s done amazing things for Portugal it Portugal comes before any 1 person no matter who they are or were. Martinez is at fault for all of this as it’s his job to have the balls to make the right choices and he didn’t. This is also why Portugal didn’t score any goals this tournament. Go to euro2024 page , and check all the stats of Portugal .. you Will see if he didn’t run , Leao as like 6.5 km per game . cr7 had never been good playing alone in forward position , it’s not about his age .. Leao doesn’t have IQ football and intensity to play this role.
