What do you guys see as the biggest retcons? Also I'd like to thank ArcheAge: Unchained for making this video possible, check it out here: bit.ly/37DPWr1
Hey, Doronsmovies! Can you do an updated version of "Top 10 strongest characters in WOW"? Because, with the reccent updates, and new characters, it's hard for me to determine who's stronger than who.
actually originally it wasn't the dreadlords that made sargeras go insane it was his ENDLESS slaughtering and imprisoning of demons he kept finding, no matter what he did they'd appear from no where and this eventually made him self reflect on if perhaps chaos was actually the natural state of reality instead of his brother's and sister's idea of eternal order. the dreadlords just massaged this idea when he found them.
Thats my belief too. And the idea that they retconned his soul being trapped in frostmourne is dumb too. His soul got split, between the blade and the afterlife. IMO it seems his pure self was within frostmourne but a resentful/hurt/"justice" (vengence) side was brought to Bastion. We didnt know anything about the afterlife until Shadowlands. Theyre literally just adding more story and details, not retconning. Stop screaming "retconned gg" at anything that changes or gets more info. Its so infuriating.
It's pretty obvious. Arthas: his army beats Uther Uther: "I dearly hope there is a special place in hell for you Arthas." Arthas: "We may never know, Uther. I intend to live forever." Uther: falls to his knees Arthas: approaches, stabs Uther: "light, save my soul."
I think the "I dearly hope there's a special place in hell waiting for you, Arthas." quote was not included because it was right before Arthas stabs him, and there's a bit of a blackout scene between that and "Light, save my soul."
It makes me miss when it was just orcs and humans lmao Seriously does make deaths not feel important anymore (getting dbz vibes). Honestly the perma death of Ursoc is the only one that hurts now haha. Better see Grom break out and scold his son
I agree that this is certainly a lot of new things at once, but remember that at one point, the Night Elves were added out of nowhere, so was the Scourge and the Burning Legion. Those are factions that we cannot imagine the game without today. Same with the Dragons, Pantheon and other cornerstones of Classic WoW. WoW is basically built on adding new shit as it goes on.
It's a bit awkward that Blizzard makes us think that beings that were subjugated by Sargeras actually tricked us into believing that they were his subjects but in fact they work for a new final boss. So when it seems convenient, any creature actually works for some unknown boss and so they continue to take expansions altering the continuity and removing the emotional charge from certain characters, in this case Sargeras, Kil'Jaeden, the Lich King.
@@FBI-1987 it does and nothing got rewriting it’s all dlc basically we knew dreadlords were sneaky fucks now find out they are super.patient sneaky fucks pretty simple
@@zzmr_stretchzz8772 No it doesn't. First, no matter how sneaky an individual is, they wouldn't be able to Trump mind reading on Kil'jaden's and Sargeras's level, and both were known to do so to their servants often. Hell even Illidan, someone far more powerful than any dreadlord, couldn't fully pull such off, and he had been preparing for such for over 10,000 years. Then there's the experiments with necromancy they performed in the first legion invasion. Why would they even do them, if they were already in league with the Jailer? Then there's the restriction placed on them by their superiors in the Legion: they are not allowed to kill one another. Need I even go on?
@@FBI-1987 I do have a bit of a theory with that, and it mainly involves something along the lines of Sleeper Agents, the Dreadlords might not know that they are tools of the Jailer, much like Arthas didn't know and neither did Bolvar until he was free of the influence entirely. They might be the same in that the Jailer sees through their eyes or presence, and they are none the wiser, it would also explain why there's a Dreadlord Paladin without the Knowledge of this fact. Basically, they are LITERALLY tools of the Jailer, not double agents.
@@PizzaFlavored It'd fill some holes, but this also takes away from how clever and creative dreadlords are supposed to be. Further, this would also count as a retcon, and not simply additional lore, as when exactly COULD the Jailer make them sleepers? It'd have to have been before Sargeras turned, when they were busy corrupting their own world, and others, and yet they didn't take any actual action toward the Jailers plan for thousands of years? Might as well have not bothered. Plus they have to die to end up in the Shadowlands, and they couldn't do that unless they are killed in the Nether, which they can't come back from. Also, I find the dreadlord theory a bit lacking in the first place, how exactly could they have gotten Maw equipment without dying? How could they have even slipped this stuff past Kil'jaden, while being an integral part of his plans? I think we can all agree that the Legion were about the furthest things from pushovers, or stupid, that you can get, yet we are now supposed to believe they are a bunch of dunces? More like Blizard is breaking their lore, AGAIN. And here's an easy fix: The Legion made Frostmourne and the Helm, but the Jailer, and his minions, adopted such, and the architecture of Icecrown, for his own purposes.
Thanks, I hate the new lore. Building up all this void lord stuff, now "Actually it was the Jailer, he was behind everything." Like, come on! That's so lame to build up these massive villains for them just to be pawns of an even bigger bad guy. Now we have the top dog of it all. The guy who LITERALLY deals in ALL souls in the entire UNIVERSE. And now, you're supposed to tell me that when the next expansion comes out that there will be an even BIGGER bad guy behind this one? We somehow skipped everything related to the old gods, and now we deal with the guy who deals in souls...so everything with the Old Gods now is pointless and meaningless because some old dude that controls a part of THE BLOODY AFTERLIFE OF ALL THINGS! This also means the Old Gods are there too, WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!? Blizzard can suck the biggest of all chickens, I'm glad I quit WoW.
the jailer isn't connected to the void so their plot is still open. He's not the master of all souls more like a thief of souls as they're meant to be judged by the arbiter. It's only mortal souls so basically just the playable races not old gods or other beings tied to celestial powers. Every sequel is based on there being a bigger bad out there or the return of a defeated one.
I disagree, completely destroys all the lore about the legion, making them pawns in a game of a guy no one knows about who will be killed in 1 expansion... If they are going to have some guy in the game who even played Sargeras from the get go, then atleast build up the character for a while..
@@krableja2517 Totally agree, at one point the Legion was THE greatest threat to Azeroth, but now they are a bunch of pushover bitches? I don't think so.

Archimonde dies in tanaan jungle in the cinematic and in the twisting nether in the mythic fight that triggers the cinematic regardless. And only the fight is canon.
Here is how the Nerubians are linked to the Scourge: Through Yogg-Saron, the God Of **Death** who the Nerubians used to serve look very much like the arachnid race who are part of the House of Eyes resemble the Nerubians quite a lot not to mention that the Nerubians are immune the the plauge that most likley originated from the House of Plagues
I love the look of the spirit healers and val'kyr. And I especially love the priests passive sleep when they die and become a spirit healer for a few seconds. Or a val'kyr if you have the glyph. That's one of my favorites
I personally prefer the Maldraxxus architecture explanation over the Nerubian one. For example it didn't make sense that Naxxrammas or other fortresses that we were told were built by nerubians were decorated by human skulls and were built in a way that accomodated humanoids. Sometimes retcons are good.
The opposite of the titan isnt the void lords though, they are the naru's counterpart. Although, if ur a titan and hearing about fukin over glorified parasite that will turn your sleeping brother or sister into fascist titan. Sure they'll freak out.
So when cenarius dies where does his soul goes to? emerald dream or ardenweald? does that means all wild gods, the ancients, and most of good night elf goes to ardenweald when they die?
I find this story very interesting: Ulthalesh was a nathrezim who rose to take control of the prison dimension of Mardum, where the titan Sargeras imprisoned his defeated demon foes in the ages prior to him becoming the Dark Titan. The dreadlord ruled the planet with an iron fist, plotting for the day when he would exact his vengeance against Sargeras. When the titan later returned and shattered Mardum to recruit forces for the Burning Legion, scores of demons refused to join him and instead rallied around Ulthalesh. In answer to the challenge, Sargeras forged a great felsteel scythe from the fires of Mardum's destruction and used it to harvest the souls of the rebellious demons, trapping them in a new prison. Ulthalesh, strongest of will, was the last to be devoured. Sargeras named the weapon Ulthalesh after the dreadlord who had opposed him.[1] Over the ages, the Dark Titan bestowed the blade on nathrezim, doomlords and even demigods, only to see their spirits be devoured by the scythe as they fell. Over the wailing of souls trapped within the weapon, the titan could hear Ulthalesh's grim laughter. Sargeras would eventually give the scythe to an eredar named Sataiel, who used it to drain the life from the inhabitants of the land later called Deadwind Pass, creating a massive crater filled with roiling magical energies in the process. Sataiel knew that this newly-created magical nexus was even more potent than the weapon she wielded, and also knew that she had to inform Sargeras, but Ulthalesh, whispering to her from within the scythe, urged her not to, saying that one day the two of them would be powerful enough to challenge the Dark Titan. When Sargeras learned of Sataiel's betrayal, he manipulated the Guardian of Tirisfal, a human named Scavell, into hunting her down. Scavell killed the eredar with her own weapon, which devoured her soul as it did so many before. Years later, Sargeras--now possessing the Guardian Medivh--sent the Dark Riders to find the scythe in order to deny Ulthalesh any further opportunities to gain more power through finding new wielders.[1] According to A Hypothetical Examination of the Legion's Weaknesses, a tome outlawed and deemed apocryphal by the Legion, the scythe is one of the few things in the universe that Sargeras fears, and Ulthalesh has been playing his game with the Dark Titan for millennia. He knows the meaning of patience
Void has void lords and old gods Light have naru Order have titans Death have pantheon of death and Disorder? i mean Sargeras is titan, being of order who just absorbed fel energy, but not orginate there is maybe some orginal demon god of fel and disorder?
Now correct me if im wrong but Number 10 (Dreadlords) arent a retcon their origin was never specified and as far as i remember they were said to be Vampiric not Demons.
I agree, to me the spirit healer recton makes MUCH more sense, it could even explain why the champions (players) gets ressurected and not most characters, as maybe the champions has a great destiny and are almost never ready to die, unlike Varian for example who made up his time, of course, it also makes more sense about Sylvanas "7 surviving Val'kyrs" while there were all across the land, one small problem though might be that...how could they not know for Arthas if they were present in Azeroth? Even indirectly they should've felt that something was wrong
Since Sylvanas was my favorite character the Edge of night retcon is really sad to me, it transform the sylvanas we knew into a puppet with 0 relatable motivation. Her story was really amazing in terms of character development and how she cared about her people. She was an amazing character with relatable conflicts about her past as an elf and her present as an undead, but since BfA it is just all gone and the character was just spoiled in my opinion.
Regarding Sylvanas. It sounds like she is pulling a Wrathion and is trying to get us to kill the jailer for her. Also, why would she not just let N'zoth free if what the jailer wanted was chaos. That is exactly what N'zoth wanted. So now we have the shadow and the void that are pushing for chaos? How are they supposed to be different again? Freya maybe created the emerald dream and used Ardenweald as a template. This way she had control over it instead of it possibly being controlled by those in the shadow lands.
Shadowlands has more holes in its story than the Swiss cheese from Tom and Jerry, but blizzard, being the true masters of lore they are, decided it's a greats a idea to piss all over the old lore to somehow make even more holes in the story and world building and ruin character developments people know and love. Why ? Cause impatient incompetent writers think the new stuff has to be bigger or otherwise it's not good. Holy hell, the lore has gone to shit ever since metzen left
Point 5 is a big one. On one hand I like the idea of an expansive otherworld where spirits go and that leads to cool possibilities. Seeing old faces will be nice. I hope we get to see Garrosh Arthas and Varian the most. But also, it makes their stories and their deaths a little less impactful and it makes me question the importance/validity of the material plane
Not only does the spirit healer not make more sense it’s changing lore brought in legion. He players like illidan have immortal souls and can re-enter their bodies.
Warcraft 4 Opening Scene - Thrall wakes up from a nightmare and realizes that everything that happened throughout WoW was simply a foretelling of things to come and that he has been once again tasked with saving his people and the world. Again. Fuck WoW and its bloated unnecessary cash-grab "storyline" and retcons.
I like the new dreadlords thing but hard pill to swallow from nathrezim which the legion found them in, to secret agents of some one in shadowlands, but oh well..
Another retcon could be Light&Death. I always thought they were the nemesis of each other. But it seems like Life&Death are mortal enemies which makes more sense imo
10. we never knew what the origin of Dreadlords was, so not a Retcon 9. Not a retcon. "Light, save my souls." was very obviously an inner prayer and not replacing the "special place in hell" line, which Uther said before he got stabbed. 8. That's actually a retcon. Tho it makes sense considering that Val'kyr are based on Kyrian. 7. Expanding cosmology is not a retcon 6. That's just wrong. Scourge still got their architecture from Nerubians. We don't know where they got it from, but well Yogg is very strongly connected to death so it's likely they got it from Maldraxus. 5. welp, not a retcon, you said it. 4. expansion of lore is not a retcon 3. As far as we know, that is still the case. K'J still made the LK, now there is just more layers in the story 2. oh, look a retcon. 1. that's a retcon, but a really old one. So it doesn't count Should have been called 10 Biggest Lore news of Shadowlands or something.
we need a video for "Sargeras was a good guy" because you know his plan was clean of life the universe so the void wouldn't corrupt it and wait for it to life to spawn again, and since now shadowland is a thing and you can just die with no issues and you get teleport to new land and after that reborn, why would Sargeras be a bad guy? he is just teleport people is not like somebody would stop excisting nope~ just teleport to shadowland~ see Sargeras was right all along!
@@alexsanchez1620 Well, currently you don't get reborn (unless you are a life spirit). Which is the problem Jailer and Sylvanas are trying to fix. You should get reborn, that's why it is called "cycle", but someone who is totallynottitans decided to fuck with it.
Prefer when they build on something or do something new entirely, rather than pull the wool from our eyes on past events. Not like this hasnt been their style forever though
Lores fooked, they missed out on revenge of the lich queen xpac. Instead we get some dik hed called the jailer that no one gives a fook about. Sylvanas should have put on the dam crown, given us a third faction.
How is the first one a retcon? They told you that they're infiltrating the legion in shadowlands they didnt change the story they're elaborating more thats all, so its not a retcon lol
I think people overuse the word retcon, Its not a retcon if lore is expanded on because you learn something new. Warcraft is an ever evolving storyline. "Bu-but thats what they said in 2010"...ignorance at its finest.
no its not mysteries being revealed, as this shadowlands shit wasnt even in blizzards mind when they fucking made Battle for Azeroth... i mean if it was, how do you explain Bwonsamdi? He is a loa of death who keeps the souls of the trolls, but apparantly everyone goes to the shadowlands, so what the fuck is he the loa of? This is nothing more than blizzard being afraid of having the story come to an end, since after Legion, the natural conclusion would be for us to focus on the old Gods and the Void lords, and after that the story is over basically, but they want to milk the cash cow for far longer than that story could do.
@@krableja2517 Bwonsamdi has his own little realm inside the shadowlands. And he carries the souls of the trolls. That's why he is the loa of death. If something were left up for interpretation then later clarified... It is not a retcon.
After all that amount of retroactive retcons it's becoming harder and harder to care about the lore. Why bother with trying to connect the dots if in two years devs would throw 'disregard that, didn't happen' card in your face?
Is it just me or since Legion has the Warcraft lore essentially run out and now each expansion they have to go “well actually, this things you previously dealt with was actually really minor and was all part of this other plan from someone else. Plus this part of the cosmology is actually linked to this bit, and so on”. It just seems to have got a bit convoluted at this point. Granted I haven’t played for two years now so that may be why it’s harder to follow.
Pulling lore out of their ass in order to justify a game mechanic is a big mistake. It raises several problems, for example how come literally only players get this chance. Throughout the decades none of the countless victims of war had unresolved issues worthy of being given a second chance by the spirit healer?
you did really promote Archeage Unchained? played it for some months, it's repetitive af, full of RMT and also everyone tries to scam you to profit. I hope you don't promote it in the future, i really like your videos

i mean Sargeras is titan, being of order who just absorbed fel energy, but not orginate
there is maybe some orginal demon god of fel and disorder?
Good point, it's possible.
Disorder has demons. There are still some of them that originated from the fel and the Twisting Nether
Kinda surprised that garrosh turning evil wasn't here
I swear every point felt like "Number # is the biggest retcon ever yet [blahblah] so technicaly it isn't a retcon at all".
Does anyone know the size of Archeage's playerbase?
I thought the dreadlords originated from their homeworld of Nathreza not from the Shadowlands...no one mentions it here??
I think I can remember in Warcraft 2 that they talked about the shadowlands...
Do you think that Arthas could have won against the Burning Legion?
First retcon is unconfirmed and the second isnt a retcon at all. I see this "Top 10" video follows all others and doesn't explain a thing
The Twisting Nether wasn't Shadowlands.
IT IS HELL IHABITATED BY DEMONS MAN
Regarding Sylvanas.
If you pay attention, now the spirit healers are kyrians when players die in WoW Shadowlands.
Thats demon hunters, or at least brought up for them.
Maybe Uther only said this in his thoughts and still said the hell thing about Arthas
So the Spirit Healers deemed Varian Wrynn was ready for death?. Also I just realised it is a possibility that Varian Wrynn could be in the Maw.
It was originally stated that the Eredar corrupted Sargeras, not the dreadlords.
Source? Sounds very unlikely since eredar are draenai. And the trio leaders had no idea who he was when he came to them and offered power.
I like the new dreadlords thing but hard pill to swallow from nathrezim which the legion found them in, to secret agents of some one in shadowlands, but oh well..
Samo nastavi sa videima !
I don't why but I would really like it if the Dreadlords are actually minions of the Jailer
Another retcon could be Light&Death. I always thought they were the nemesis of each other. But it seems like Life&Death are mortal enemies which makes more sense imo
Am i the only one wondering about the fact that Uther's soul was split? I mean HOW? and WHY?
Maybe the light saved him cause he's worth saving. Don't know.
10. we never knew what the origin of Dreadlords was, so not a Retcon
9. Not a retcon. "Light, save my souls." was very obviously an inner prayer and not replacing the "special place in hell" line, which Uther said before he got stabbed.
8. That's actually a retcon. Tho it makes sense considering that Val'kyr are based on Kyrian.
7. Expanding cosmology is not a retcon
6. That's just wrong. Scourge still got their architecture from Nerubians. We don't know where they got it from, but well Yogg is very strongly connected to death so it's likely they got it from Maldraxus.
5. welp, not a retcon, you said it.
4. expansion of lore is not a retcon
3. As far as we know, that is still the case. K'J still made the LK, now there is just more layers in the story
2. oh, look a retcon.
1. that's a retcon, but a really old one. So it doesn't count
Should have been called 10 Biggest Lore news of Shadowlands or something.
Very very good brother keep it up
Here before baldman reacts.
we need a video for "Sargeras was a good guy" because you know his plan was clean of life the universe so the void wouldn't corrupt it and wait for it to life to spawn again, and since now shadowland is a thing and you can just die with no issues and you get teleport to new land and after that reborn, why would Sargeras be a bad guy? he is just teleport people is not like somebody would stop excisting nope~ just teleport to shadowland~ see Sargeras was right all along!
Where.does it say you get reborn?
@@alexsanchez1620 Well, currently you don't get reborn (unless you are a life spirit). Which is the problem Jailer and Sylvanas are trying to fix.
You should get reborn, that's why it is called "cycle", but someone who is totallynottitans decided to fuck with it.
i would love to see a full dreadlord expansion as one of the final expansions since theyve been the masterminds behind the majority of wow lore.
How do u feel now
6:05 song name?
Whatever, on the next expansion there will be a Lot of New nonsense flaws that will change everything we know so far again...
I miss the old lore.
Ah yes the Emerald DreaN
emerald drean
Could someone explain what it means World of Warcraft would not be the same?
Prefer when they build on something or do something new entirely, rather than pull the wool from our eyes on past events. Not like this hasnt been their style forever though
Not about story now going to be the tale of the cash shop how we think it's been their
Lores fooked, they missed out on revenge of the lich queen xpac. Instead we get some dik hed called the jailer that no one gives a fook about.
Sylvanas should have put on the dam crown, given us a third faction.
Retcons?
More like rectumcons,saronite boiz?
How is the first one a retcon? They told you that they're infiltrating the legion in shadowlands they didnt change the story they're elaborating more thats all, so its not a retcon lol
I think people overuse the word retcon, Its not a retcon if lore is expanded on because you learn something new. Warcraft is an ever evolving storyline.
"Bu-but thats what they said in 2010"...ignorance at its finest.
EMERALD DREAN
Bro we are waiting for youre next live stream to chill with you and ask yiu about this video in more details
Most of it just mysteries being revealed. hardly HARDLY RETCONS.
no its not mysteries being revealed, as this shadowlands shit wasnt even in blizzards mind when they fucking made Battle for Azeroth... i mean if it was, how do you explain Bwonsamdi?
It is not a retcon.
bro you are HIGH ENERGY and we LOVE IT!!
After all that amount of retroactive retcons it's becoming harder and harder to care about the lore. Why bother with trying to connect the dots if in two years devs would throw 'disregard that, didn't happen' card in your face?
yes bro^^
Is it just me or since Legion has the Warcraft lore essentially run out and now each expansion they have to go
“well actually, this things you previously dealt with was actually really minor and was all part of this other plan from someone else. Plus this part of the cosmology is actually linked to this bit, and so on”.
It just seems to have got a bit convoluted at this point. Granted I haven’t played for two years now so that may be why it’s harder to follow.
Emerald Drean?
Why all the retcons?
I like the kyrian spirit healer retcon. It just fits the game nicely.
learning new information isn't a retcon dude. cmon. also have they even confirmed the dreadlord origins thing?
He has a recipie for cocaine?
TA JAILA AAAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAA
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Many of these retcons have worsened the warcraft universe, hate to say.
Retconlands. Im so happy i didnt buy this garbage.
God I fucking. Hate. Retcons.
You have done nothing but made me angry. So angry.
Bit clickbaity this title mate...
🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
There is no lore in wow, it's just a bunch of glue huffing monkies flinging shit at a board.
second
nice video.
I lost all respect for the lore.
bruh you title a video being about retcons and your first 2 entries you even say yourself "not really a retcon" bruuuuuuhhhh Nobbel up boi.
bruh half of these are “this isnt REALLY a retcon” so why include them?
So if you can't explain it you call it retcon? 😂😂👎🏻
