Two totally different things, way different budgets. The original was of course way ahead of it's times, And let's face it, nobody beats Divine. She was the real thing.

I love this movie
What I love about this is that when they’re filming, they’re using a different version of the instrumental that sounds more like the Broadway musical than the lavish orchestrations in the end product. It’s probably easier to hear/keep a beat while singing & dancing, and you can also hear the original Broadway soundtrack while they’re rehearsing Run & Tell That towards the end of this video, that’s Corey Reynolds singing as the original Seaweed.

This is the hairspray I grew up with I was so excited when it came out !! I hope there a part 2 soon I would be so happy !! Maby next year u know since it been a weird year !! Hope they would give it to us as a present :) with the same cast

Me too, i got this extra DVD thing with it in walmart and it only had 4 behind the scenes segments which i had already seen and it was 35 dollars, 15 more then the normal one, i was so disapointed but i love the movie any how!

They were going to. It was supposed to be called "Hairspray 2: White Lipstick".Apparently, it was supposed to be about the blacks wanting their own show after being integrated. For some reason, it just didn't happen.

i bought the DVD and there was an extra disc for like 6 bucks, so i decided to buy it...and it sucked! there's was nothing on it...it was a waste of 6 bucks.
i love the movie to pieces...but i really wanted to see the choreography and things like that.
