I was fortunate enough to see, what I believe to be, Chairmen of the board's final UK appearance in a very small club in west London... I even got to sing a few lines with the General after he hauled me onto the stage... Memories that will live with me forever...
One of my best career moments was when General Johnson and Ken Knox came to my gig at the Double Door Inn. This after he had already immortalized my voice by hiring me as a background vocalist on every CD from 1992-2010. There aren't words to express how much General and The Chairmen Of The Board have meant to me over the years. I'm blessed to have had the honor of sharing the stage and countless records with them! 😀
The Chairman of the Board, awesome entertainers. You were going to move whenever you heard their concerts or their CDs. General Norman Johnson was a proliferate Songwriter for himself & other groups.
I cried the entire time! What great musicians and performers! You will never see another band like the Chairmen of the Board! Much Love and Appreciation, xoxox
General Johnson and his group played volley ball with our daughter's at the Holiday Inn at North Myrtle Beach back in the 70's...then they allowed us to take the "teens" in to the lounge that night to watch their show. It was the highlight of our vacation!
One of my favourite bands of the time……I saw them around 1972/3 at Picketts Lock in North London along with the Detroit Emeralds……what a fantastic double bill !!
I had the pleasure of seeing General Johnson and Chairmen of the Board on two occasions in different years at Myrtle Beach South Carolina. Sheer brilliance and such gentlemen - super show. They are so well liked in the UK.
Had the pleasure of seeing Chairmen of the Board at the Lexington BBQ Festival some years ago. Also had the opportunity to speak with General, Danny and Ken in their dressing room. Got autographs and spoke to them for about fifteen minutes after their show. Couldn't ask for a better group of fellas, very kind and down to earth! RIP General and Danny.
Love 💙 Love this Norman! So many memories to hold close to heart and never be forgotten. Your dad, General Johnson so very blessed with his God given talent throughout his life all those years, touching so many souls and hearts he did. Now watching over, directing as they have and continue to carry on his legacy with Ken Knox, my friend who I adore much and all the others. Bless them all, you Norman and with your dad General Johnson~ R.I.P. 🙏🏻
My grandfather's name was General. It was believed he was named after his grandfather. His grandfather was a Confederate General/ Lawyer. His dad was mixed, (Black and White)
grew up these guys met em all at the charlotte beach bash that got a rian delay and we all hung out in a gm and jus chewed the fat. they are all down to earth and good guys. general may you rest n peace. danny is still rocking but wheelchair bound now. bless him down at the beachclub is my fav song
Never forget Danny Woods calling me on strange I think ,I saw so many of their shows. The last one was Lexington BBQ Festival. You always had the best time at their shows.Truly the best memories.Miss you General Johnson and Danny .Gone to to soon
I love The Beach Boys but I’ll never forget my parents telling me, “Yeah, but they’re not REAL beach music.” It’s why I love General Johnson and the Chairmen of the Board along with all Carolina Beach Music greats.
you can't break it down before you even started...this is a method to fill time and save energy after performing the same thing literally over tens of thousands of times....bless them but yeah....
Beautiful, reminds me of better days when us kids didn’t see anything wrong with your clothes, your furniture or your house. We only cared if you stunk. And had cooties. Hope that’s not a bad word now?
What an energetic performance! I only wish they would have had a longer set in which they included more of their hits - "Try On My Love For Size", "You've Got Me Dangling on a String" ua-cam.com/video/KzlJup9ARQY/v-deo.html, "Pay To The Piper" ua-cam.com/video/0M4AmHk3_Fk/v-deo.htmlsi=JXnHKaSfhA8J6z15 or "Patches." After all, 75 years doesn't happen every day! But, nevertheless, seeing General Johnson and Danny Woods of the original four members along with Ken Knox getting down was worth the price of admission!
Let me tell you something as a musician I will tell you that the band never placed for nothing. Look at them right now ,they’re playing for you aren’t they?
I love Norman Johnson.. and the Chairman of the board, but he says the band are plaiying for fuck all... hoped they split..Norman The Best Ever Norman Johnson and The Showmen...The chairman of the board

@@EnochDark it's not important. Don't give him the attention. #knowyourworth
Thought this performance was awful. Sounded flat and out of key and they can do better then that.
Horrible version
