I liked it too. Shouldn't get too used to it. Given that, plus how generous he's been with several things in this episode, Rob's going easy on them since they just started, which is alright, I think new players (unless they specifically ask not to be) should be gone easy on, just don't expect it to stay so.

Rob is experienced as a DM but not necessarily as an actual play DM. So he knows how overpowered flight at will can be, and that's why he limited it for Bob.
The funny thing is that Sneaki wanted to exploit it immediately to get free advantage to sneak attack, but Bob was fully prepared. And don't think he didn't think about it while preparing this adventure.
I think it shows that Rob is now fully aware that actual play is often more about making things spectacular, compared to regular play. So less complex situations/choices, but more characterization and immediate enjoyment.

I was hoping these two would turn up in the early days of the boys campaign. Maybe we will see them in the ladies one.
Teamwork, premature escape plan, love story, counseling. This episode is PACKED!
The girls' roleplay is off the charts, super happy with this campaign ❤
This is D&D as I best like it.
So what do we think? They starting to become better tacticians than the other party? More naive? Less chaotic? Quieter? Smarter?
Oh, also, for those confused, this episode, like with episodes 1 and 3, was available one week early to those who backed The Great Expansion Kickstarter. Hence the week old comments.
We think they're having fun.

It's nice to see their empathy driving their actions and the selflessness rewarding them with a happier story.
It's made me notice things about the BatD campaign. Like how the girls congratulate each other all the time. And that feels odd. I guess verbal abuse is the boys' love language 😂
Their game knowledge is on par with the boys' first campaign after 150 episodes :P
Rhi may be a great tactician, but she is fully committed to roleplay an overdramatic charging minotaur. Immedieately became fan favourite, who can resist that accent? She may catch up a bit quicker than Ellie and Phoenix because she is sitting next to the relatively experienced Britt. Britt will surprise us with a stroke of genius once in a while. Her character still remains a bit of a mystery. Which would be in charachter I guess. Phoenix shows her creativity and if I may hazard a guess she picked to be a rogue fairy because she feels like one inside. I am sure that will lead to excellent chaos. Her Baldur's Gate experience will annoy Rob. We all love it when Rob gets annoyed. Sorry Rob, it's extremely funny. I love Ellie that she didn't compromise on how she thought her charachter should behave. Jumping back into the bottle, perfect. Looking forward how the rest of the party will try to soften and open her up. Can she resist the amicability and charm of Horatio?

Sneaki is basically cupid in this episode: a small winged figure shooting arrows to protect people in love.😂
It's pretty clear the difference between the two shows - in the guys' show, they kill anything they can, often exploding monsters from the inside out. And here they're offered tea and someone to talk to.
And exploding their friends from the inside when they drink the Genasi water!
The best part of being a backer is getting to see the first three episodes early! The bad part, is there's going to be a week with no new episode before the 4th comes out...

I saw the wall too and thought they should fight behind it. Although the wall is short and I thought the undead 🧛♀️ 🧟♂️ could climb over it. It made me start calling the defenders the Dimwitt. Militia
Same general who decided the tactics for the Battle of Winterfell in the darkest episode of television ever made.
I really love how this party is a total opposite of the other one.. 🤣
Love how Rob does the rule of cool. Especially helping them learn what they can do despite an athletics check getting a nat 1. Makes the game more fun.

It's neat seeing how different the ladies' play style is already.
If the Girls keep pushing the Astrology thing, Rob might lose his cool and then the Doom music starts 😛. Such a different vibe from the beginning. People working together, lovers on the battlefield. Such a big leap from the guys campaign, where the main theme seems to be, always leave someone traumatized 😂.
So, Bübble is gonna be this campaigns version of Bob. Emotionally detached from the party and always wondering if she should just pop off and exploding people from the inside. I guess there's one in every campaign...
Phoenix is so adorable as Sneaki you almost want to make her immune to fall damage. And couldn't Ellie just turn into a puddle? 😂😂😂 Love the zombie therapy
Wow! These girls are a DM's dream for new Players! They may not know their way around their dice or character sheet, but they LISTEN, the take an interest in hints and NPCs, and they're not trying to overrule the DM with shitty house rules as if they were gospel.
Its fun how different the games are. The boys are having fun with the game and fucking around and the girls have fun with their characters. That is very cool how similar yet fundamentally different those approaches are
the Misfits give me a Chaotic Good vibes, saving npcs and things and I absolutely love it.
As someone who gets anxious during battle scenes, I am really enjoying this! Love how Rob is using it to introduce classes and types of people.
I LOVE the subplot of npc holding hands. It would've been extra hilarious if Hamish made an unannounced cameo as Rhi's counterpart.

I've played for years and never DM'd, but I have been playing with the idea of trying it out. I'm definitely taking notes from Rob. He seems to be a great teacher, understands his players, and is quick to adapt when they do something off "script". I honestly enjoy this channel more than Critical Role.
I probably laughed way to hard when I saw the lego horse on the battlefield, that was great.

Love the small stories they've given the army as they play them. This is so much fun!
The costumes are really impressive, makes it even funnier when the Benevolent God just wear casual clothes in the intro, no gear or weapon, and can (will) still wipe them out if they insist on talking about astrology 😄
Another episode, another reasoned proof as to why you keep everyone behind the stone wall with archers and casters softening targets and funnelling main portion into the opening to limit the advance.
I normally don't watch UA-cam with subtitles on because I just find it more fatiguing on the eyes. However, was finding this one particularly difficult to catch what everyone was saying, and was so glad to have the amazing Lorquin's subs to turn on to make sure I caught what was happening the rest of the episode. You rock ❤
I have to use subtitles for everything I watch. Lorquin's are the best I've ever seen. I love the subtle call-outs too. Perfect.

I love how very different the campaigns are already. The guys - constantly finding ways to traumatize (or kill) NPCs. The girls - collectively get upset about the NPCs they just gave a 2 sec back story to, taking damage

I just love how much genuine fun everyone is having both at the table and in the green screen. The guys seem to forget to use their hero tokens and inspirations a lot of the time. I hope the Misfits remember.

Another great episode, I love the dynamic of how everyone is playing and interacting with each other, and their reactions to when Rob does stuff
There's an NPC that Rob has singled out, saying that she has druidic abilities for reasons. She also got her apearance described, and only Captain Oolang that got that same treatment.
She was described as a half-orc, with curvaceous body and is beautiful. . . And they are in Dimwood currently, which if we take VLDL's naming sense, is close to Lightwood and Darkwood.
