It might have been worth mentioning that there were two 64-bit editions of Windows XP: "Windows XP 64-bit Edition" and "Windows XP Professional x64 Edition". The former being for the Intel Itanium IA-64 platform, and the latter for x86-64.

I've been using Windows XP embedded for almost 2 decades now. There is nothing out there that even comes close to the stability of Windows XP embedded. There are industrial devices at my company which have an up time of over 10 years and never had the slightest problem. The BSOD is an unfortunate event indeed, but it is not something that defines the product. Also, the embedded systems are often "bare bones" systems meant to be fully stable. So yeah, if you are so scared of having medical devices running windows, just think that this is a company that in the event of aomething going wrong with such systems, it will take responsibility. I want to see who takes responsability if something goes wrong with a linux based system? This is why I am very worried by how Linux based systems are now pushed down the industry's throat.... At many companies I have worked with this is a big big issue...

Win XP, 7, and the windows phone were the last good things Microsoft did before becoming comical villains.
