Budget Top Feed Injector Conversion

- In this video, I get creative and devise a cheap way to convert the factory Subaru side feed injectors to the much better top feed injectors for a fraction of the price of buying a conversion kit. Stay tuned for the TGV delete video coming soon. Hope this helps, Like, Comment, and Subscribe.
Did you change any of the damper system? I have a 2005 OBXT as well and I am doing a TGV delete (but keeping the electronics working). I bought a 2013 FXT intake assembly like yours in this vid after watching what you have here... I didn't see the need to spend $$$$ for aftermarket stuff when there's plenty of good parts nearby that are available (pick and pulls!).
I used the damper system from the doner car 2012 wrx. You can bolt on the entire top feed fuel system from the firewall forward and it will work. The only reason I did extra was because I had plans to go for higher power numbers on ethanol so I needed more flow than stock top feed system.
Thank u!!!!!
quick question is it parallel fuel system ? or just top feed
This is just a top feed system. A parallel fuel system it where you have two separate fuel rails with a line going to each rail individually the stock system has 1 feed and return line for the whole system. Hope that makes sense
Thank You that totally answer my question, that a very nice oem mod for ej motor
05-06 Outback XT's actually came with the same block as the STI of the same year. Not sure on LGT's
Yeah, the legacy GTs are the same as the outback XTs. The blocks are the same the outback/legacy engine code is ej255 and the sti has an ej257 but to my knowledge the only difference between the 2 is they have a different piston dish size. Probably for more boost in the sti.
Yeah I think STI is 8.2:1 and OBXT/LGT are 8.4:1 due to the piston dish
@SWSpeedCo what did you do with the connectors for the injectors? Since the OBXT has side feed connectors?
You can buy adapters that have male side feed plug on one end and female top feed plug on the other end. Probably the best way to do it so you don't have to cut anymore and can go back to stock if needed
@@SWSpeedCo is there a connector that accepts the side feed wires? so there is no jumper in between?
I dont know of anything like that. The adapter with the wire works very well, you kind of need the wire so you can plug into the harness without stretching the harness
@SWSpeedCo would those top feed injectors to big to run on stock ECU from the OBXT?
No, the ecu doesn't limit the injector size. You can tun as big of injectors as you want. The stock fuel system only supports about 940 cc of flow
Did u add the coolant expansion tank bracket from an 08+ wrx as well or modify the one on your legacy?
I didn't put the bolt back in the bottom of the expansion tank lol, I just set it down on the post on the intake manifold and made sure it was seated and it hasn't budged. If you want to do it right I'm sure the wrx bracket would work
@@SWSpeedCo cool thanks for the reply. Doing this myself so wanted to see what others have done.
It no problem, lmk if you have any other questions
What are you putting this on? You literally didn’t say what car you have at all lol
2005 subaru outback xt, I am doing a whole build series with it so I assume people know what I'm working on, that's why I forget to say it sometimes, even though it probably your first time watching one of my videos.
