What a great idea. It would be helpful to hear you describe how you set up the release or how you decide on where to drop. Having the drone gives a great perspective of being able to see the sand bars, holes, rips, etc and reading the surf. You are certainly on to something. Looking forward to seeing your channel grow.
I keep forgetting to show the bait release lol It is very hard to see anything on my phones screen while flying due to the sun. A shade box of some sort may be in my future.
I've seen miini 2 carry 7 oz pretty safely but you must remember he is carrying string too.... A Polaroid lens could help you see to the bottom of the water 👍
I am just not sure the Mini is up to much of this. I tried my Mini 2 SE this afternoon with just a four ounce sinker (no swivels, hooks, or baits/lures) and it ran the prop speeds up way too high and nearly made the drone uncontrollable, even in payload mode. And I'm dead certain the drop system alone pushes the weight of the drone well over 250 grams. Worse, you can't even register the thing to make it legal since it doesn't have Remote ID. I'm thinking to do this properly you need something beyond what a mini can do - I've also got a Mavic 3 and plan to bring that to Navarre when I come in March - if you're interested, let me know and maybe we can arrange a session with both drones. I'll be in for not quite a week around March 9. Oh, and how are you finding the area from a harassment (from LEO's, beachgoers, the general public)? I keep reading nonsense about how you can't fly anywhere from PCola until past Destin and I think that's nonsense. The sectionals show nothing but an advisory due to congested low level traffic in the area (not anything that would cause a problem for drone fishing. I know that the national seashore is off limits, but Navarre isn't in the national seashore. So I think it's good to go but you're local to the area and perhaps your experience is different?
As far as the mini's capability, I have only had a problem when it's really windy. I try to stick with light to moderate days and drop a 2 oz weight on a 2 drop rig with 2 floats/hooks/sand fleas or fish gum. I've got several other videos showing how I fly them out. I have flown baits out or just flown for photography fun all up and down Navarre and Pensacola bch, even flown at Fort Pickens. I've never been harassed about it. I have people come watch me fly baits out and think it's awesome. Hit me up! I use my mini because that's what I can afford. I'd catch fish with a snoopy pole if I couldn't afford a Penn.
