This happened to me today during a showing of multiverse of madness in rpx, picture was on and off, and completely cut off during the sneak peek of top gun maverick, eventually the lights were turned on and the guy said that the projector wouldn’t be fixed for a few days, he ended up giving us free transfers to another showing, refunded the rpx fee, and gave free passes to any rpx movie
This happened to me before. I was gonna watch the lorax when I was little but in the beginning of the movie, it started glitching out and the people had to stop the movie but they gave us this free movie thing
This happened when I watched Murder On The Orient Express, but thankfully, the projector came on in a second attempt to present the picture, and it was all water under the bridge.
I had a similar experience. We were watching a reairing of Rio (as a part of the regal summer 1$ days). During one scene, the audio and video was so messed up. Like it barely worked and even made some young kids cry. Heck, I was 6 and I cried due to sensory issues. Luckily it was fixed and the movie continued, but I’m sure there were some angry parents outside afterwards....
That's never happened to me before. But last time I went to the movies they turned on the lights in the middle of the film and they only turned it back off when someone walked out to tell them. And then later on someone messed up the projector for like 10 seconds so that we could only see the bottom half of the movie.
I had the same experience with a projector glitch error during the krampus movie at 11:15am at AMC 34th Street movie theater in my hometown New York City I noticed the movie trailers stops and freezes , they tried to played the movie like 4 times and the projector freezes again. It must be the projector lamp and the computer system on the projector
This happened to me while watching the Animated Garfield Movie, luckily I have seen the whole movie except for the end credits because the projector suddenly just broke
I had a similar situation when I saw Dune Part Two Fan First Premiere IMAX screening back on Sunday February 25th 2024 after 22 minutes of previews the IMAX Audiotrium had projector issues by shutting off and having the lights on after the Dune Part Two Fan First Premiere introduction and then after 45 minutes the IMAX projector was fixed and I was able to watch the movie after a 45 minute delay for no reason at all and gaved me a free rain check pass tickets for reason why though
This reminded me of the time when me and my dad went to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest when I was 10 years old. You should have seen my father he was pissed as hell like I've never seen him so pissed off in my entire life.
There's usually no one with any technical knowledge working in cinemas these days. Where I worked there is now an ex-McDonald's manager trying to run the shows. You don't want to know how many times he has had to refund or give out free passes.
Movie theaters should not be letting this happen! They should've run a test reel meaning let the movie run before movie theater opens to ensure no accidents happen like this!
it actually happened to me before once, it was Over Her Dead Body (2008) right before the end credits started, it wasn't even crowded at all, only 11 people were there. the last problem i saw that humilating was June 2010 (last time i went to the movie theater was December 28, 2010, i went to see both Little Fockers and Gulliver's Travels), i was going to see Marmaduke, but only the audio was heard in the theater, but i left and went to see The Karate Kid instead.
I remember watching Sherlock Gnomes at the now-closed AMC 8 theater beside the Logan Valley Mall in Altoona, PA, and the screen wasn't on during the Front and Center part, but the audio was playing, so my aunt went and asked the employer. Then, it turned back on. Same thing happened years later with TMNT: Mutant Mayhem (if I remember correctly).
This happened to me I was watching a midnight showing of Krampus when it came out and the screen started glitching out at the beginning and we all thought it was part of the movie but anyway the theater gave us passes that gave us free movies and concessions for the rest of the year and the entirety of the next year
This never ever happened when theaters had film projectors. Now it happens all the time. Going to the movies now is nothing more than watching a projected computer screen. Its like watching a big IPhone. We go to the movies to escape, not spend two more hours looking at a computer screen!
+Bruce Rider EXACTLY. In fact, even the term "Digital Cinema" is an oxymoron. Sadly, there's already an entire generation (going on two now) who never experienced the high-quality film presentations which were common in even plain old neighborhood movie theatres back in the 50s-70s (not even to mention 70mm capable "Roadshow" theatres) before presentation quality began to decline in the late 70s-early 80s. Of course it's unfortunately true, as the saying goes, that one can't miss what they never experienced. Pity, that. (Hardrive movies. LOL!)
The beginning of the end of art is the homogenization and commoditization of art. This whole substituting video for film and watching digital files in a movie theater was a crazy fastball by the movie ticket buying public and the most crazy, blatant example of homogenization and commoditization of art.
+Bruce Rider You mean *TO* the movie ticket buying public (who happily caught it with the typical mentality which assumes anything "newer" must automatically be "better" - especially if there's "digital" in its name).
I can tell an anecdote recently where I had a problem with a projector interlock, 2 rooms, 15 minutes to finish the movie one of the projectors fault, the bulb did not respond in the other room while the movie continued, I could not stop projection in the room where the bulb failure, because the other projector I also stopped at the time of failure the entire room could hear screaming, throwing food .. etc.. was 12:30 am, I being alone in the cinema, no staff.
This kinda happened to my cousins but it's kinda a different story one day in 2008 they went to go see indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull and they by mistake played kung fu panda on by accident and they had to waste 7 minutes watching that the movie eventually played but they got free passes still
I got to meet complaints down as the person of the video, nothing more than were 150 people, yelling, insulting, and demanded money back. For that I give them a quick solution and change to another room, mount the last roll of film and project it again. It was a difficult experience, but all went well in the end.
LOL... oh well, this probably worked out in yoru favor... from what i gather, if you've seen the trailers of TED, you've seen the best it has to offer.
This happened when I went to see despicable me 2 the screen froze at the cinemark cellphone policy it was like that for 10 minutes before they fixed the problem and started the movie (I was either 7 or 8 when I saw the movie so I didn't know what happened during those 10 minutes of waiting for the movie to start)
this happend to me but it was all fine we were watching guardians of the galaxy while star lord and rocket are flying in the pods the screen was black it was like it shuted down 3 minuites it was all back.
Wouldn't be a big deal but instead of taking the loss with issuing refunds to everyone, they rid 'readmitant passes' That was dirty. Then the girl at the end 🤣 'do you want to see magic mike' Thankfully, arclight went bankrupt
"That wasn't funny" ...You payed to watch a Seth MacFarlane movie, where 90% of the jokes are lazy pop culture references. You have no concept of what funny is.
This happened to me once as a kid. My mom never got a refund.

well thats a new saying.
I had a similar experience. We were watching a reairing of Rio (as a part of the regal summer 1$ days). During one scene, the audio and video was so messed up. Like it barely worked and even made some young kids cry. Heck, I was 6 and I cried due to sensory issues. show me on what the audio and the scene was like
It’s beyond his control. People need to grow up. Get your money back and see it later. No biggie. I feel bad for that guy.
This happened today when I was watching Captain Marvel. Except the audio and sound in the projector was having problems.
I think it was intentional
When I saw Kung Fu Panda 3, they had problems with the teaser trailer for Trolls, but after that, everything was fine again.
It happened again. This time, it involved the new Star Wars movie.
That's never happened to me before. But last time I went to the movies they turned on the lights in the middle of the film and they only turned it back off when someone walked out to tell them. And then later on someone messed up the projector for like 10 seconds so that we could only see the bottom half of the movie.

This happens sometimes in many theaters. Ive had it happen to me twice ever.
ahh the magic of digital cinema projectors always flawless...
Person at end" wanna see magic mike." Hahahaha
This happened to me while watching the Animated Garfield Movie, luckily I have seen the whole movie except for the end credits because the projector suddenly just broke

You should have seen my father he was pissed as hell like I've never seen him so pissed off in my entire life.
That video reminds me of Rugrats when the movie in a theater can't end. Too bad, audience.
This shit happened to me while watching the BFG (Big Friendly Giant).
lol @ "you wanna see magic mike?" at the end
There's usually no one with any technical knowledge working in cinemas these days. Where I worked there is now an ex-McDonald's manager trying to run the shows. You don't want to know how many times he has had to refund or give out free passes.
Movie theaters should not be letting this happen! They should've run a test reel meaning let the movie run before movie theater opens to ensure no accidents happen like this!
Good idea! That way people can actually enjoy the movie!
Some of them run automatic so they don't have much control but yeah agreed test it before audience enters.
Imagine if this happened during a special screening of 2001 A Space Odyssey
dude, this happened earlier today when I went to see "Frozen 2."
it actually happened to me before once, it was Over Her Dead Body (2008) right before the end credits started, it wasn't even crowded at all, only 11 people were there. the last problem i saw that humilating was June 2010 (last time i went to the movie theater was December 28, 2010, i went to see both Little Fockers and Gulliver's Travels), i was going to see Marmaduke, but only the audio was heard in the theater, but i left and went to see The Karate Kid instead.
Man, no offense but you went and saw some really crappy movies lol.
This happened to me and my family because of a blackout.
This happened to me I was watching a midnight showing of Krampus when it came out and the screen started glitching out at the beginning and we all thought it was part of the movie but anyway the theater gave us passes that gave us free movies and concessions for the rest of the year and the entirety of the next year
Hook me up! I really love this deal!
BS. No way they gave you all a year plus worth of tickets and snacks lmao do you have any idea how much money they would lose.
The crowds booing just scares me >.
The movie dosen’t start while the projector is broken!
it did happen when we went to go see Batman v superman the x men apocalypse ended then the screen was shaking
This never ever happened when theaters had film projectors. Now it happens all the time. Going to the movies now is nothing more than watching a projected computer screen. Its like watching a big IPhone. We go to the movies to escape, not spend two more hours looking at a computer screen!

In Irvine Spectrum 21, ROJT SE film failed near its ending. :(
Actually, it DID. We had a Xenon lamp blow out (similar to a hand grenade blast sound!) and had to move the film to a different theater.
AW MAN, I had my heart set on seeing the Family Guy Bear movie!! My life is ruined!!!
Oh Fuck You HAHA.
0:14 *BOOOOOOOOOO*
yo that happened to me when I saw sausage party
Happened to me 4 years ago during the showing of Sonic the Hedgehog. My mom got a refund and I got a Sega Genesis mini that same day :)
Happened to me when going to see The Color Purple during opening night. Movie was glitching every 5 minutes and everyone got a refund and free drinks.
This happened to me when I saw secret life of pets 2
"that wasn't funny." lol
I can tell an anecdote recently where I had a problem with a projector interlock, 2 rooms, 15 minutes to finish the movie one of the projectors fault, the bulb did not respond in the other room while the movie continued, I could not stop projection in the room where the bulb failure, because the other projector I also stopped at the time of failure the entire room could hear screaming, throwing food .. etc.. was 12:30 am, I being alone in the cinema, no staff.
ROB!!! I go to this theatre all the time! I love the butter popcorn, mmm.
The similar happened when I went to see avengers infinity war for like almost 2 hours the power was out but went back on back in 2018
No, that wasn't funny. ;)
Love how Nicole jumps all over seeing Magic Mike, too. Did you end up going?
The best part is when the guy's chick excitedly asks at the end, "CAN WE GO SEE MAGIC MIKE?!!❤" 😂😂😂
Thats the only reason why no one, goes to that cinema, cause it has technical errors.
Now that projector has to go get the orange version
This happened to me when I see Sonic the Hedgehog 2 at East Park Cinema from Marcus Theaters.
it happen when i was at disney world mickey's philharmagic theater when the glasses didn't work
This kinda happened to my cousins but it's kinda a different story one day in 2008 they went to go see indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull and they by mistake played kung fu panda on by accident and they had to waste 7 minutes watching that the movie eventually played but they got free passes still
Thank god it never happened at my local cinema.
I got to meet complaints down as the person of the video, nothing more than were 150 people, yelling, insulting, and demanded money back. For that I give them a quick solution and change to another room, mount the last roll of film and project it again. It was a difficult experience, but all went well in the end.
"That wasn't funny."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
If I was there I’d throw my popcorn at the gentleman. But I wouldn’t do that because he looks like a nice man.
Why didnt you show the actual mess up? Who gives a crap about the announcement!
LOL... oh well, this probably worked out in yoru favor... from what i gather, if you've seen the trailers of TED, you've seen the best it has to offer.
I agree. I'm surprised it had a sequel.
This happened when I went to see despicable me 2 the screen froze at the cinemark cellphone policy it was like that for 10 minutes before they fixed the problem and started the movie (I was either 7 or 8 when I saw the movie so I didn't know what happened during those 10 minutes of waiting for the movie to start)
i hope it doen't happen to us
If this happened to me I will be so screwed
Arclight is closed
I went to see jurassic world dominion and this happened
a few weeks after this was posted?
This happened in avenger endgame
this happend to me but it was all fine we were watching guardians of the galaxy while star lord and rocket are flying in the pods the screen was black it was like it shuted down 3 minuites it was all back.
Use your iPhone projector to see movie.
do they get there money back if they dont that would been peak
Why did the projector failed? Because of trying to appear the 1996 MPAA Rated R Bumper?
No
it was because they were having problems
It had to be during the movie. If it had failed while trying to display that MPAA bumper, the theater would've been empty.
Wouldn't be a big deal but instead of taking the loss with issuing refunds to everyone, they rid 'readmitant passes' That was dirty.
Then the girl at the end 🤣 'do you want to see magic mike'
Thankfully, arclight went bankrupt
never happens so often with film, dem fancy pants digital projectors always fail
sadly this shit often happens even with the newest imax projectors, believe me....
lol that wasnt funny!!!!!
THATS PRICELESS
That WAS funny.
i got here from random word genarator
"That wasn't funny" ...You payed to watch a Seth MacFarlane movie, where 90% of the jokes are lazy pop culture references. You have no concept of what funny is.
that must have sucked
( Sorry for the terrible english)
rhap
Cheap carbons ? lol
That must of been a waste of money for them i feel bad
