I'm adopting my first bearded dragon baby from a breeder! I couldn't be happier with this! He knows I go through stress in my life and fighting for my freedom and everything! And I know it's a chance I'm unable to pay for the dragon! So he offered to ship him to me for free if I do not win my freedom! I could not be happier with him! I'm getting a little boy from him! Definitely some food for thought. I’ve been considering bringing a Beardie home for a while. This was a helpful video to get me started. The hardest part is over, though. I got my wife’s blessing!
We are getting a bearded dragon here soon for my daughter (but I’m secretly over the moon excited lol) and this video has helped a lot. I’ve been going back and forth between enclosure sizes. I met someone who is selling a young adult and his enclosure for 280… my husband is a little apprehensive because of the price but he just told me that that enclosure is 4ft x 2.5ft x 2ft. It was a jewelry display case turned into a reptile enclosure. He looks so happy in it and it looks so roomy. I’ve been looking at 50 gallon tanks… again just trying to figure out sizing and all that jazz. This video really helped me appreciate the different sizes and look at it from a different perspective. 280 for the entire setup and the dragon seems very affordable

This is seriously great info. I just lost my 10 year old dragon 3 nights ago 😭(actually,I bought him for my son) I really don’t know what happened to him but I wish I had done more homework a lot sooner, there was so much we were doing wrong and I didn’t know it. Absolutely heart breaking to find out we weren’t really giving him everything he needed. He was fine and seemingly healthy a few days prior and then he found him upside down in his tank and very weak. I thought he may have been dehydrated so I went and got some pedialite and syringe fed it to him 1-1 with water. He hung in there for a day more but that was it. I wish I would have known what to do to try and save him because it’s eating me. I’m thinking he may have had a respiratory disease because the last half hour or so of his life he was seemingly gasping every 30 seconds or so in between breathing shallow. It kills me to think he suffered, I really hope not💔 Your content is priceless and I hope anyone with a bearded dragon takes the time to do proper research on caring for them and finds your channel

A 120 gallon tank sounds insane I've seen perfectly happy beardies with 40-50 gallon tanks, and plan to take mine out frequently, for handling and play
It’s because they get up to 2 feet long and having an enclosure that’s minimum 2 times the length of the animals is good for them having to walk around. You can take them out but remember lots of people live in climates where they can’t take there dragons outside because it’s too cold year round. Also they need uvb and heat most room temp houses are 20 degrees colder than what they prefer so they will just sleep cause they are cold. So you can’t keep them out all day that’s why the bigger enclosure is necessary.
A friend of mine recently adopted a small dragon who was severely underweight, and also very impacted due to living in and eating sand, that took about 2 weeks to clear using 4 hot baths per day and some mineral oil. Her dragon is finally eating healthy again and gaining a lot more weight, but due to the severe malnutrition the beardie will sadly never reach her full adult size.
Very good video. Just got a fully grown bearded dragon. No idea how old it is. Was left in an apartment that the tenets were evicted from. So now I am trying to learn as much as I can about it. Thanks so much
Thank youuuu. Your videos are helping me learn what I can do when I buy one. I made a deal that I would learn alot in order to have a baby bearded dragon. So thank you!!!!
planning on getting one soon, these vids have inspired me to wait til after winter so i have plenty of time to set up a dope ass enclosure for it to keep my beardie as happy as possible :D
2:56 I saw this at petsmart a few months ago. Two lil bearded dragons on one jail cell, one ran up to the glass and stood aggressively, the other one in the back looked sick and skinny, with little to no coloring
Great informative video, my man! You explain everything very well, so that it is easily understandable, and you could use this video as a textbook on bearded dragon-care :D And of course, it never hurts to have a lot of footage of Bubba - he is a show-stealer :D
Hey, I’ve actually been planning on getting a bearded dragon for the future and I wanna know if keeping a fan on 24/7 in my room would help or disrupt anything that would make the little dragon in their tank more or less comfortable.
Hey the substrate you make is exactly the same substrate I make for my tarantulas, good to know I don't need to do anything different there. Also awesome very informative video.
Hi! i’m thinking of adopting a female dragon, i just got some pictures of her and i was wondering if you could help me look at her health?🙈 I’m worried about a blackspot and an angle on her tail
I watched this already knowing what I needed to do, but looking for more info (which I didn't really find tbh, I'm actually proud of my knowledge) but all this 10000%!!! Some of it actually made me sad, far as the space they need, not keeping them together (lest the smaller dies), and more. Learned these the hard way, and anyways this is a great video for information! I'm so happy for this video, thank you for this simple easy to understand video!
My only thing is my dragon didn't have as many lights as mentioned here. My guy lived over 10 years, and he was a special, inbred fella, had an overbite and a strong hand as I like to call it. He didn't have much movement in his back legs and required a lot of attention, much more than a regular beardie ime. I've also experienced and had beardies who grew tumors, and we had em removed, just dealt with a lot. Would be interested to chat and shoot ideas and experiences around to make my next dragon live their best life! :)
Ty this helped a lot! :) I was super nervous (and still kinda am lol), but this helped a lot and for sure gave me confidence to raise my first bearded dragon! :)))
Oml I’m getting one for my birthday Saturday and I’m really exited wanna take care to it and cherish it🤣 my dream pets are reptiles of any sort mainly bearded dragons and snakes Thankkk uu fir this videoo
Depends on the brand of enclosure. The dubia roaches one I would mount on the inside. Make sure nothing is closer than 9 inches to the bulb on the inside and you will be good to go
I haven’t got through the hole video yet but am I able to just catch some wild bugs and feed it. Like crickets worms grasshoppers and others thanks for the video🎉
I was told a 40gal for a baby bearded was too big. That if i did get one i would need to divide the space. Is this true? I’m starting to feel overwhelmed with getting on for my son. But i will be watching more of your videos!
I’ve learned so much from your videos! Thank you!!! I’m subscribed I have a question though I ordered the Arcadia pro but it’s 14% is that too much for my bearded dragon?
I'm so glad I watched this video. The pet store told me everything I needed to hurt our bearded dragons. They said 2 dragons would be perfect in our 10 gallon tank. While we are now going to buy 2 larger tanks now I do have 1 question. Since they are too small to find out if they are male or female yet, if one day we wanted to mate them, what are the do's and don't since they should not be in the same tank?
Oh yeah that’s way too small for 1 dragon let alone 2! Happy to help you on the right track. So if you wanted to mate them later they do have to be around 2 years old cause that’s when they are sexually mature and are old enough to mate. Then when you want to mate them you can introduce them to each other. Have to watch carefully and they will mate in less than five minutes. After that 1 month she should dig for eggs lay them. Get those eggs put them in the incubator and then after two months they will hatch. That’s when you need at least 5 big enclosures I use sterlite tubs the 40 gallon ones. Have to have heat lamps and uvb bulbs for all babies. Then you raise the babies up 😁
Subbed. Thanks for all your uploads. I haven’t looked yet but have you made a video about where to buy a bearded dragon? I know most people say from breeders and not pet stores but crazy question what about from online breeders?
Thank you so much for this video. It has really helped ease my mind. I have a 40 gallon premium kit currently. I've have a 120 gallon on the way. I've had my dragon for 3 weeks so far. Do you think my beardie is ok? The new enclosure should be here within a week.
@ChiefsUniverse thank you so much for the info. So I'll be needing to get the correct uvb bulb and wattage etc. I'm just currently using the stuff that came with the tank smh
@@hillcityninja3155 it’s ok many have been in your shoes and it will make due for now. Excited you are getting the right stuff though you don’t have to worry now 😁
You have to be one of the best people I have seen on UA-cam thar actually knows what they are talking about. Only thing for me is I use a T8 and no loose substrate. I was also told since in captivity we should not let them brumate since they are getting food and supplements every day. Otherwise, I applaud you on a fantastic video!
Why thank you 🙏 for brumation most of the time they are just gonna do it once they feel winter coming. So I just let them do their thing lol. Very much appreciated
I strongly recommend switching to a suitable loose substrate (such as a soil/sand or soil/sand/clay mix), burrowing enrichment is extremely beneficial for beardies!
@@DallasStorm43 you’re saying burrowing enrichment isn’t beneficial for bearded dragons? It absolutely is. They dig deep burrows in the wild and will do so when given the opportunity in captivity. It’s a natural behaviour that they should not be deprived of.
@Nighting Gale Do you know why they dig burrows? To get to a cool spot, aka we provide that for them. Second, is to escape predators, which in captivity there are no predators. They don't live long in the wild for many reasons and impaction is one of them. So NO, it isn't ok to use any form of loose substrate. 😕
I want one so bad. But I would have to have you to build his habitat with all everything he needs😂😂because I'm not creative enough 😂but I love these lil dudes ♥️
I’m just a little confused about what you do for heat at night? I’m assuming you dim your lights? This is a fantastic video tho! My family got a 5-6 month old a few days ago and already made mistakes. Glad we’re correcting them so soon. Hoping to keep him happy and healthy.
As long as your house isn't super cold, you should need any lights at night. They need darkness like us to sleep. But if you need additional hest, you can use a ceramic heat emitter or other bulb that emitts no light.
Good temps at night is anything above 60f during winter it can go as low as 55f. My schedule for summer is 12 hours a day lights on winter I drop to 8hours of lights on
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse hey thanks for your response. I forgot to ask you, I plan to buy the bearded dragon and will be traveling to gift it to my brother ( they don’t sell them in his area).. what are your thoughts on the bearded dragons traveling? It’s about a 6hour drive.
Have a question. In the area we live pine and ever greens are everywhere. We want to find sticks from outside. We do have other trees like locust, beech nut, birch trees, maple weeping willows. My question is are any of these safe options for our Beardies? I want to be able to provide them with more activities. And if so what do we need to do to sanitize them and ensure they are the safest possible options. Thanks in advance.
Hey man I love your videos, really really good information. Me and my roommate finally decide to get a dragon. We got a starter kit in a few essentials but we just want to make sure we're doing it right. Little anxious about the temperature being just right and him getting the right amount of UVB. If I send you a picture of what we got going on could you give me some tips on how to take care of the little guy 🦎💚
On the hot side part of the video I had a typo. The Celsius for hot side should be 26C - 32C. Not 90C 😅
Do you leave the lights on during the Bearded Dragons brumation?
I live in malaysia and the weather always hot at 32°C do i need to buy heater?
Can I buy one or your 120 gallon tanks ready
One of the main reasons they need to be in a 120g it literally causes their brain to shrink. It causes depression and compromises their immune system.

Hey, I’ve actually been planning on getting a bearded dragon for the future and I wanna know if keeping a fan on 24/7 in my room would help or disrupt anything that would make the little dragon in their tank more or less comfortable.
Nope it’ll be fine wouldn’t bother them at all
Hey the substrate you make is exactly the same substrate I make for my tarantulas, good to know I don't need to do anything different there. Also awesome very informative video.
I also make it for my tarantulas 🤣 nice
Hi! i’m thinking of adopting a female dragon, i just got some pictures of her and i was wondering if you could help me look at her health?🙈 I’m worried about a blackspot and an angle on her tail
@@mustafaftw thank you very much you can contact me through Instagram or Twitter the links to those are in the description
Ty this helped a lot! :) I was super nervous (and still kinda am lol), but this helped a lot and for sure gave me confidence to raise my first bearded dragon! :)))
You got it! It’s not as hard as everyone makes it seems. Just a lot of info to take in soon you’ll be helping people who are getting into the hobby!
Oml I’m getting one for my birthday Saturday and I’m really exited wanna take care to it and cherish it🤣 my dream pets are reptiles of any sort mainly bearded dragons and snakes
Thankkk uu fir this videoo
Happy to help! It’s gonna be awesome when you get one! The greatest feeling
I got the Arcadia 12% for my 120 gallon. I know you mentioned to get the 14% do you think that will be ok 😅
Depends on the brand of enclosure. The dubia roaches one I would mount on the inside. Make sure nothing is closer than 9 inches to the bulb on the inside and you will be good to go
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse i have the eco flex 120 gal. Would I be ok to just place it ontop and not inside?
I haven’t got through the hole video yet but am I able to just catch some wild bugs and feed it. Like crickets worms grasshoppers and others thanks for the video🎉
No wild stuff as it can carry parasites or have been poisoned by neighboring houses
Really useful video, great for beginners!!
Thank you
AMAZING video!!! You explain everything so well and are so thorough! ❤ Newbie here. ✋
Thank you! Happy to help!
Awesome video man thank you!!!
Happy to help
Thanks for the video, like all the info you give, jus got my 1st beardie.
Congratulations 🎊
what an amazing video! so informative! thank you for putting in the time and sharing. gonna use your affiliate links now!
Appreciate that a lot! Thank you 😊
I was told a 40gal for a baby bearded was too big. That if i did get one i would need to divide the space. Is this true? I’m starting to feel overwhelmed with getting on for my son. But i will be watching more of your videos!
No not at all. That’s a perfect size for a baby.
Love this!! What about shedding and bathing please?
Will make a video about that ASAP!
2:30 bearded dragon was like “thanks mah boi. Appreciate you”
Haha yes
I’ve learned so much from your videos! Thank you!!! I’m subscribed I have a question though I ordered the Arcadia pro but it’s 14% is that too much for my bearded dragon?
Depends what enclosure you have I’ll make a video soon about lights to update everything
@ I only have a 50 gallon enclosure right now I can’t afford to build the 120 gallon one quite yet
@ also I have the ReptiKing T5 10 UVB from Amazon at the moment but I bought the Arcadia because every video says that’s the best
Nice video! Can i use big bark shavings for my beardie enclosure as a substrate?
I answered but you could I personally recommend soil sandy ones myself
Thank you! I have not but I’ll get right on that!
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse thank you!!
Would love to have a bearded dragon someday this video was very helpful!
Happy to help
Thank u so much! I have always wanted a bearded dragon, so i love this vid thanks a lot!!❤
Happy to help!
Thank you so much for this video. It has really helped ease my mind. I have a 40 gallon premium kit currently. I've have a 120 gallon on the way. I've had my dragon for 3 weeks so far. Do you think my beardie is ok? The new enclosure should be here within a week.
Yeah your beardie is fine. No worries.
@Nighting Gale No its not. However, do what you like.
Thank you your video helped a lot I’m thinking about getting a bearded dragon also u know how long fancy bearded dragons live for?
My parents are making me research bearded dragons rn so I know that I’m up to take care of him
Waffle will be mine
Very nice hope I helped
@@ChiefSweetsUniversethx you helped a lot
Also I got waffle 4 months ago and he is a cute lil guy
Excellent video! Thank you for making this content.
Thank you 😊 glad you liked it.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It helped a lot.
No problem glad to help
so informative!! thank you so much!!
Happy to help
I'm getting one that's already 5 years old bc my mom's old friend was giving it away so now I'm doing research
Nice!
I want one so bad. But I would have to have you to build his habitat with all everything he needs😂😂because I'm not creative enough 😂but I love these lil dudes ♥️
Haha no you can definitely do it! They do have backgrounds and stuff you can buy. Dubia roaches is the best budget enclosure
But if you need additional hest, you can use a ceramic heat emitter or other bulb that emitts no light.
bro ima die till i make that kind of money 💀
Hey bro what’s a good temp for them at night time !? And what light schedule do you have yours on
Good temps at night is anything above 60f during winter it can go as low as 55f. My schedule for summer is 12 hours a day lights on winter I drop to 8hours of lights on
One question. Do you have to keep the lights on for them at night or can they be turned off?
Turn them off at night.
you’re a LIFESAVER.
Happy to help
I just got one and this helps a lot
Happy to help! 😊
Hi. Ok got it with the lights. But how much is your electricity bill pe month? And how long do you keep the lights on for?
Thank you so much for this video! I plan to gift one to my brother for his birthday! Do you have link where I can buy 120 gallon tank?
Yes here is one on Amazon amzn.to/3We7bGD
Now there is a lot of different kinds as well. Check out this one too! dubiaroaches.com/products/4x2x2-120-gallon-bearded-dragon-enclosure
Yes I have a discord linked in description
@@ChiefSweetsUniverse awesome thanks man!!
Hey! Could you reintegrate the vitamins again for an adult bearded dragon with correct lighting ??
