A few years ago I walked by a bus stop in downtown chicago and saw 4 homelss people "sleeping" 2 on a bench and 2 on the ground, two hours later I walked by on the way back home and turns out all four had died from this stuff and lay there dead for hours in wide open public before anyone noticed.
It's so crazy how fast fentanyl took over the US. I remember only hearing about it in Canada and then a year later it was literally an epidemic in America.
It's been in San Diego since 2016 those fake m30s were showing up.

Completely understandable really. The GOP is worried about immigrants and Trump; the Dems are concerned with abortion and Trump. All they would have to do is carefully inspect every single tractor trailer crossing the border from MX. Move Border Patrol for a few months to every single truck crossing. The other approach, Xi in China could stop the flow of Fentanyl leaving their ports. The drugs help to destabilize our democracy so Xi lets it flow to the U.S. The U.S. could do a lot with China to change that. E.g. ban all iPhone imports for one month. Fentanyl would disappear overnight.

I lost both my best friends to fentanyl within a year of each other. I struggle with survivor’s guilt because of it. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t keep them sober or safe.

Dealers should test there work before they sell and custies should test there stuff if they like to drink and come back alive with coke than they should test what there putting in there body.. Cause most people do coke when there drinking and drunk and downers dont mix with alcohol so if snort coke laced with fentanyl well drunk or drinking your chances are high to overdose..

This is why it was so easy to convince millions and millions of people to allow themselves to be injected with minimally tested, unapproved mRNA substances. The US population has a very casual relationship with both prescription and illicit drugs, encouraged by constant prescription drug advertising on TV and the doctors' casual approach to prescribing all kinds of drugs for both physical and psychological maladies... from early childhood on. Perhaps it'd help to show to middle school and high school kids in public schools videos of victims of fentanyl overdose to demonstrate the real risk to fentanyl exposure they're putting themselves in when they decide to use recreational drugs.

In the 1980s, we were shown a graphic film of people using and overdosing on drugs. Real people heating their heroin in a spoon over a lighter and injecting. Later, they had tubes in their nose/mouth. Very graphic for the 7th grade. Then I went to a party at UCSD. Went to the head and heard this guy banging on the inside of the stall. He finally broke the door off the hinges and he still had the needle stuck in his arm. Seeing all that was enough to keep me from experimenting with any illegal narcotics.

My exwife died of fentanyl because it was in a xanax pill she bought at a pharmacy in Tijuana. She was taking Xanax for her bipolar disorder. Stop judging strangers.

My boyfriend lost his father to this. He got something that was laced and it killed any chances of them working on their relationship. It’s so sad. If you’re gonna do it, please get yourself a test kit. They’re kinda pricey but you’ll be able to test whatever you have before you do it. It also doesn’t take a lot for these tests, just the tiniest bit. And they’re pretty accurate. Please please please take care of yourself. This stuff is so easy to overdoes on!
They aren't even pricey you can get em on Amazon 2 bucks a piece max or if your a broke addict just ask the Clinic for Fent Test strips and Narcan...Fent is literally evil compared to Heroin or makes heroin look loving💯 I lost like half a dozen friends to it in literally half a year
You can get fentanyl test strips for completely FREE at most needle exchange harm reduction sites inside most cities in America

San Diego is a fairly conservative city. Lots of military. Political sides have little to do with addiction issues.
The war on drugs caused this. Dope fiends will find a way to get their dope, even if you close the borders. If the market is there and there is a way to fill it despite the blockades, someone will find a way to profit. The spice must flow.

People are so lost and hopeless that they rely on drugs like this. I remember seeing how hopeless my friend was in highschool, he felt society had failed him and he had no place. Childhood Trauma = the real gateway to drug use/abuse & damage to mental health
Very well said, but society owes nothing to anyone. "If it's to be, it's up to ME," and everyone is responsible for themselves. Granted, when you are born into a sh*thole area where people around you aren't amounting to much of anything, it's a lot easier to "join them" than to work ten times harder to get out, but no matter what cards you are dealt in life, you must work to play the best hand possible.

My wife died of a fentanyl overdose when she bought Xanax at a pharmacy in Tijuana. She was self-medicating her bipolar disorder this way because health coverage here in Amerikkka is unaffordable. Who is to blame for our capitalist healthcare system? Certainly not Mexico.

Washington Post does a story about Fentanyl when it hits San Diego, but that stuff has been killing my friends and family in Appalachia for years and years. It's incredibly bad over here, however you never see stories from our area.
because it's propaganda. other major cities to the north have it significantly worse. they are showcasing stories in counties along the US MEX border like in SD and in Texas to fearmonger the public. This gives agencies like Border Patrol and Homeland security more funding and general support to spend on their toys, pay raises and harassing both legal and illegal citizens. SD County released a video of an officer supposedly getting second hand contact with fentanyl and OD'ing from it. Drs and Toxicologists rebutted the video online though saying OD'ing in the way the officer did is impossible for a human. All border counties are corrupt. There are drugs in these counties but it is nowhere near as bad as officials are making it out to be.

I live in San Diego and just lost my best friend from this stuff he had been doing real bad and i heard had gotten arrested and got locked up for a few days and when he got out because he hadnt done it in those few days while in jail, his body had a break from it so when he got out he just took it like he wud regular and it killed him. Such a shame about this. I'm from UK and have visited USA a few times. First visit was approx 2002. I met a friendly and very chill African American guy from Washington. He had come into an inheritance and travelled the US extensively. Naturally I asked him what the nicest places were. He named San Diego as his absolute favourite, saying it was a lovely place as well as friendly and trouble free. It's sad to see how far it has fallen.

It took me rolling my car four times breaking 13 out of 16 ribs, two fractures in my lower back, fractured sternum and punctured lung get off that crap sixteen months ago.
My brother passed in March of 21, he was in a lot of pain due to having some dental work done. He had 12 teeth pulled and dentures put right in.
It caused him so much discomfort and he was in so much pain that he bought a 30mg morphine pill, just one, but it was laced with fentanyl and he lost his life!
My brother was a recovering addict!
He was clean for over 5 years and told the dentist he didn't want the Vicodin prescription he was given. I so wish he would have just taken the prescription from the dentist! I know who sold him the morphine pill. He wasn't trying to hurt my brother, he didn't know they were laced! The same batch that killed my brother was responsible for 4 deaths as we found out later!

I know a lady that works full time she gets barely above minimum wage . Yet she can't afford insurance and doesn't qualify for medicade . She recently had a cut in her leg and was forced to go to tbe hospital for treatment. She was only there for four days on intravenous medication. Yet now she has been give a medical bill in the thousands . She has worked out a payment plan with the hospital. But now with the payments and everything else going up like rent food utilities it will be an even bigger struggle. Yet people like her and other hard working people have to pay for these junkies to get resuscitated time after time and put through rehab time after time. In my opinion we are rewarding these junkies and punishing people like her for doing the right thing in life. The system is totally back to front and upside down!!!

Every major city in Canada and the USA has a serious drug overdose problem.
It's happening everywhere, even podunk places.. I witnessed a girl overdosing.. we saved her life with CPR but it was a scary ordeal.. The US has horrible access to Healthcare and almost no way for ppl to get the help they need unless they're put through the criminal justice system.. it's not a moral failure to end up an addict as it can happen to anyone.. getting treatment shouldn't be so difficult and expensive.. drug use won't stop, drug trafficking won't stop, until we deal with our Healthcare System..

I get that a lot of these OD's are from laced pills but what I cant fathom is people that actually want fentanyl. I was given fentanyl for pain relief when i was in hospital. A very small controlled dose compared to what's on the streets and i just remember it was the most awful feeling I could imagine. It definitely helped me forget about the pain but if I'm honest I think I would rather be in pain.

If fentanyl was legalized you could control the dosage and reduce the overdoses. Narcotic prohibition has done nothing to stop drug use. If people have a right to throw away their lives. I was given this drug from my Dr. who was getting a kickback for my life. This was back in 2010. I was never addicted but my doctor went to jail for 7 years. Do not take this drug. It's not a high u need.

One of my lifelong friends who had been battling meth addiction for decades, overdosed on Fentanyl 2 weeks before Christmas. He left behind an ex wife who still loved him, his 3 boys (young adults now), 1 really young daughter, a new wife, and all of us! I am so mad at him for it, but I also forgive him and know his pain as a human is over. I’m Uncle/Tio to his children! I will always be there for them now that he’s gone. They need a father figure. I don’t know who needs to see this, but to be a functioning member of society, any drastic elevation of dopamine is abnormal to the human experience, especially for a sustained amount of time. So if you’re suffering from addiction, it’s totally okay to be completely sober, even from substances like alcohol and weed.
Maybe if this administration would admit that there is a serious problem, and not lie to us, and actually do something might help to restore some faith.
