We just lost our Son 2 days ago to a heroin overdose, but we aren’t sure yes. He battled drug (heroin) for 20 years. He was 42 when he passed. We live in MO, and have to go to Oregon to retrieve him. They ran an autopsy and tox report on him today, but we haven’t had the strength to call the coroner, or medical examiner. We are so heartbroken. My heart goes out to everyone portrayed in this video.

My son passed away from suicide... I know it's not the same as a drug overdose... but when the mother said every day feels like the first day... She's sadly so correct... Justin was in the Air Force... he was only 25 years old... He passed on May 8, 15.... My life has been horrible every single second since... your life is defined as before and after.... it hurts beyond words to live every day without Justin here.... The pain of losing a child no matter what age they are is indescribable.... Anyone out there struggling with addiction: you may think no one cares and your life if worth nothing but I assure you, you are worth the help! You may have made people angry and they may have distanced themselves but you are still loved, you are important, you are irreplaceable. I woke up next to my husband, the father of my kids dead in 2009. Your loved ones never " get over" losing you. We fake a smile and pretend and we get through each day but there is a giant hole in our hearts. We don't get better, We just get better at living with the pain. You're 7 days off now (I sincerely hope), you should be at least over "the hump" of the BAD w/d symptoms. Take it one day at a time. Each day will be better than the last, and I know it sounds "crazy" but try to exercise, even if it's just a walk to the mailbox for now...
Muster up all the strength ya can, eat as healthy as possible, keep yourself hydrated, and also keep yourself as busy as possible. All of those WILL help you feel better (and recover faster). I was a Public Health Nurse at the beginning of the AIDS epidemic and this sounds like what we faced with teaching, handing out safe sex kits to the at risk populations. We were condemned for adding to the problem. The results we had on schools, the street ... We're positive in the long run. I do believe we made a huge difference. Today we don't hear about AIDS like we did then because people are more informed and the medications are so much better with less side effects. I know I saved lives. The Fentanyl issue sounds like another medical condition we need to be very open and vigilant about, not just on the streets, but in all counties. This problem is affecting La Jolla as much as National City. "My child would never" is BS. Ask any addict. I learned, in my long career, kids experiment and most Parents haven't a clue.

This is the big issue that should be in the forefront of the debate, instead of the repetitive dwelling on the steady flow of new destructive drugs.

I am a medical professional, and this should never be considered by kids, parents or anyone. So, why are we not educating the public that this is not to be used for anything other than pain or what a physician prescribes it for.

This current generation hands kids money for energy drinks, coffee, etc. These kids go to bed and stare at the ceiling all night. They ask Mom and Dad for more money. They start searching for pills. We have to watch and listen to our children, and remember love is the best communication. Who do you want to tell your child the truth, you or a public school?

Parents need to go into rooms, check their phones, know their social media passwords, sit down with their kids friends and have a conversation also with the kids parents. Maybe even have kids speak with therapist a few times a year even if they dont display problems. Dont wait until it is a problem.

All but a few of them became addicted to Oxycontin in the mid 2000's. A few went to jail and most were in and out of rehab. I'm grateful none overdosed. I worked in an addiction facility in the late 80's and the worst we saw was heroin. These new drugs are horrifying, especially the "zombie " one. Narcan doesn't have any effect, so basically people are dying or suffering from skin ulcers that lead to amputations. I truly feel for anyone in the throes of addiction, it can happen to anyone. I think that having the last time I used be so dramatic kinda helps because in the past I would always still use here and there, but this time I haven't even seen that stuff since then. The main appeal of opiates for me was that they made me feel happy. I wasn't "trying to numb the pain" as people say, but they just made me feel happy and warm and content, and I wanted to feel like that all the time.

Yep, I'd take 5-6 Percocet 10s or equal Narcos 3× a week to be happy, that may not seem like much with also taking 2mg of my Xanax I take for anxiety disorder I've had for decades much but for me it was perfect. When I came down about 4-5 hrs later I started getting angry, sometimes extremely angry. When my daughter died of a heroin overdose in 2013 at age 24 the day she was found in the back bedroom I heard a scream from my other daughter my wife ran in the room and as soon as she got up to run in the room I popped 5 1/2 Percocets and said "oh man I'm gonna need these now" I knew she was dead then I went in the room and my wife and daughter were screaming crying, she was in a fetal position gray cold. Yep. So on n off my pos selfish self took them on n off for about six more months till I said I think I better stop this before I die, 2014 was when I quit the pain pills and haven't had one since. My wife?? She committed suicide in 2016, many things I can't write all here drove her over the edge, Missy our daughter's death was one, she did suffer from bipolar disorder and our marriage was very rocky for years at that point. So I could write a book but this isn't about me, just glad I didn't get to the heroin/fentanyl stage all you guy's did I was lucky. If it were only that easy... it is not. Peer pressure takes many forms: it is hardly ever someone actively encouraging you to do these drugs. Kids see kids having fun. Kids see adults drinking alcohol and having fun. Kids see adults using anxiety meds and feeling better. Kids enjoy the rush of caffeine. Kids enjoy cannabis just like adults. Our "gateway" is part of our culture. Mankind has enjoyed altering its consciousness for many thousands of years. We have never been able to "just say no" if we are being honest with ourselves. N E V E R. Don't blame beer or liquor; don't blame cannabis or nicotine or caffeine. Blame the human impulse to enjoy other states of consciousness. "Don't do drugs" is just naive and uneducated. It does not work. Nowadays, the problem is simple supply/demand. We must stop condenming the impulse to try drugs and recognize it is a part of being human. That "choice" is human, so stop judging based on it (remember this the next time you enjoy a cocktail or a beer to unwind). Support and control are the only solutions, and, since demand and supply are so massive right now, we need desparately to avoid punishing and begin considering MAJOR changes to our policies. Getting rid of barriers to treatment should be first--all MD's need to be able to prescribe opioid treatment immediately without hoops to jump through. Radical solutions need to be considered; we are not going to "enforce" a solution on the border or in the streets. We must accept our flawed human instinct and makes choices from that acceptance. The world has changed; old methods have failed because we refuse to accept that mankind enjoys drugs by its own nature. That is where the morality comes from; that is where the misplaced judgement comes from.

Nice job on the ending of this production!
I learned about drugs in high school in the 70s. We had addicts in recovery come in, we learned the biology of their effect on the body, etc. I knew then that certain things I would be weak about, so I was able to decide in advance not to pick up. Same with sex. I realized it was easy to be faced with an unwanted pregnancy, and I knew how to prevent that in advance. I understood the biology. My teachers did an excellent job, far better than my parents could, because the teachers were rational, impartial and thorough experts. Do kids have this kind of instruction now?
On a completely different note, why does it take our legislators so loooooong to deal with problems. Years ago we should've been throwing dollars at this problem to absolutely stop it from coming into the country.

Anyone struggling should give suboxone a shot. It saved my life 5 years ago and I am still on it, half the dose I started with. I feel like the person I was before opiates took over my life. Subs saved my life then I got divorced and then would do pressed pills luckly I have subs in my system still for the most part or I’d be dead. Went into precipitated withdraw a couple times but once when I had no fent and Fuck I couldn’t even go get the drugs if I tired had to lay on the ground like I was being hit with a hammer all over my body at once while shutting and throwing up until my gf could get off work to the deal and home and then instantly I was better. Then I realized I had to take subs feel like shot them take as little of fent as I could to be ok. Did that for a week with more subs every day and less drugs. Got 10 days on subs again and then sublocade and bam I’m human again. I’m getting one more shot 3rd and then it will ween so slowly out of me that after 6 months here and there for short amounts of times you feel like 5% withdraw for a hour here or there but as long as you don’t use your good and your off everything. I know 100 s of people that sublocade got them off the subs. Granted the first month of sublocade does suck and somtimes you still take subs the first month but I didn’t. More people need to learn about sublocade but if your gonna want to go back and forth just stay on subs until your ready when you are ready get on sublocade and then get two to three shots and after 8 months you’ll test neg of all opiates and you good and out the other side. Tho while your taking the MAT meds you need to get your life together and cut off the bad people or else you’ll just go back. The information is out there but you need to go and look for it. Good luck everyone

People will always complain about drug substitutes… but even the AA book says not to criticise other methods people use that result in sobriety
Substitutes like Suboxone and methadone allow us to stop the illegal using, stealing, abusing friends and family etc etc they are worth a try
It is then a good plan to reduce as you are doing, (I am also on substitute, methadone, and am reducing my dose) until we are free of of the substitute too
Thankyou for commenting about one of the different options for stopping illegal drug use
Anything that helps us get back to normality and allows us to be once again a healthy member of society is a positive
Shaming people for using substitutes is not helpful…

The problem is the sheer level of addiction in an overindividualized, antisocial, cannibalistic, overcompetitive society of bullies and bullied. 52+ minutes of "fentanyl-crisis" and not a bloody single word about the ruined-to-the-core society randomly trampling on and spewing out their average, or even below average, "members", not a bloody single word about the extremely psychotic mental health crisis the complete woke left is suffering from for years meanwhile, not a bloody single word about prospects, primary distribution, corrupt sellout-politics at the expense of the majority of U.S. citizens ... nothing. Sobriety is always possible, but you have to want it more than anything you ever have longed for. The first year or two is absolute mental and emotional hell, because you don't have the bottle or needle or pipe to deaden pain. But it is awesome when you come out the other side of it, and life does a complete turnaround!
Sobriety is always possible, and that's what I wish for every addict. It can happen if you want it badly enough.

My ex Oded on heroin and meth a few years back. We share a child and she was too young when he passed to even remember him. Shes almost 8 now and idk when might actually be a good time to tell her. She is so heart felt (the only way I know how to explain it) pretty much I dont want to break her heart while she so young. It's so sad bc he was just trying to have fun and run away from his problems. He also left behind a son who is a few years older than my daughter. It's scary how easy it is to OD and die. It's even worse when we lose KIDS!!! It's all bad and sad to anyone who is affected by this. Yall take care and God Bless you all. I pray for any and everyone who is affected by this in ANYWAY!

This killed my fiancée and best friend of 7+ years. He always told me he knew what he was doing and he’d be fine. I realized around that time that I was going to lose him no matter what I did. Please, for the love of God, do not touch this. It is a GUARANTEED death trap. If you can’t stop on your own, get yourself to a methadone clinic ASAP. I promise you it’s better than dying and hurting everyone who loves you.

Your fiance killed himself accidentaly by not knowing the dose he took..otherwise its called suicide. How about well dosed fentanyl..most people die because they dont know whats the dose in the pill..well doses it does not lead to death unless you take an overdose knowingly
Rather question why people want to take such drugs..the underlaying problem is the foundation of this society that makes people get sick and urging for taking drugs

I got news for you . Methadone doesn't work for Fenty... At all . Barely at all . Just makes it worse. Because now u got two problems... Methadone doesn't help in withdrawal from Fetty at all. Fetty comes In quick and leaves the body pretty fast to. Methadone does work with heroin. But not Fetty at all .

@@scottykingdavid Yeah, I’ve heard it’s really hard to reach a stable dose when coming off fent. Tbf though I did start at the clinic 7 years ago before fet found it’s way into fucking everything. BTH is a thing of the past now but it was “safer”. You’re right though, I think you basically have to be in WD until you find a dose that holds you without using anything else on top of it. God help us all cause this is only gonna get worse 😐

I just started this so this might be mentioned… but from what I hear fentanyl is even being put into weed sold on the streets. Since weed is pretty innocuous and a lot of people do it, if you don’t live in a legal state and get your weed from a dealer - PLEASE be careful. Or just switch to delta 8 if it’s available in your state. Just another reason to federally legalized marijuana 💯

We definitely need to find some sort of balance to keep people from abusing drugs, and getting them willy nilly from physicians while not blocking chronic pain patients. Thats the big hiccup! During the "opioid crisis crackdown" they stopped helping most of us chronic pain patients. Far too many chronic pain patients in turn committed suicide due to unbearable pain that they weren't being helped with 😞💔yes! We 1000% have an opioid crisis. But we also cant leave chronic pain patients high and dry for pain management. Tylenol/ Advil/ ibuprofen/etc doesn't cut it for everyone. I think when we figure that part out we'll have it made. Right now either decision is killing people.

The fentanyl got out of hand because it reached the Mexican cartels and now it is the exclusive fault of that country which in the future will be the next Iraq. invade and destroy Mexico.
