    This is mentioned in the video but to clarify, the high frame rates will only be missing when recording to SSD. You will still be able to record those frame rates internally with any compatible dummy battery.

    I can't believe it only took 2 small pieces of tape on my cheap Amazon dummy battery to get all the frame rates working.🤯 Thanks for posting this.

      No problem, glad you found it useful 👍 As I say, it's not really a solution, more of just a reason why it isn't working. Who knows, they may even change it again in the next firmware update.

    I bought one from the B&H store but it arrived different than what was shown in the photo. What I did is put a cover tape on it since I remembered that I had seen your video and I really thank you very much for your help. A hug!!!

    Thanks! My GH6 wouldn't deliver high frame rates to ssd, despite using Kondor Blue DC Coupler and SmallRig 212 v-mount battery it always showed "you must use a DC coupler". Great hack with the tape strips, that worked out for me. So thanks for the video and carry on. Subscription added 👌👏👍

    Hi Steven
    You're doing God's work with the GH6 videos and responding to everyone's comments, so thank you for all your help.
    I've had a look through most of your videos around power solutions for the GH6 (just got the camera myself), and I'm wondering what the pros and cons of these are? I'm looking to shoot in 4k modes for a few hours a day around the city or in the countryside, run and gun. Am I best off having a load of normal batteries and charging these with something as I go? Attaching the external power bank you recommended? Using the V-Mount battery? Or using the V2 Power Junkie solution? I'm guessing it's situational so I'd like to get the right stuff to keep costs down.
    Also, for my purposes, I take getting the T7 (or alternative SSD) is highly recommended, rather than getting a couple of large SD cards? Even though I'm not currently planning on shooting in the super hq modes right now.
    Finally, may I ask what monitor you're currently using/would recommend? I bought a 7" Feelworld monitor a while back but the lack of touch screen was more unworkable than I anticipated, so I'm selling it on. I'd be looking for a relatively budget option between 5" - 7", though 5" seems a somewhat trivial increase in screen real estate to me.
    I'll send you a couple of quid as thanks for all your content so far!

      Thank you. That's great to hear, I really appreciate it. I would say that external batteries are best suited when you are in a position where it is either impractical (heavily rigged up) or non feasible to be changing out batteries (long unpredictable shoots like a wedding or event where you could miss something crucial). They are very useful if you are powering other devices like a monitor as well. If you have plenty of time or can plan battery swaps then internal batteries can be fine. Having a power bank to hand is very beneficial. The Power Junkie can be handy if you have a ton of Sony NPF batteries laying around.
      In terms of cards, I like having a decent CF Express card as that can give you all the shooting options internally should you need them. Then having a decent SD card for backup, relay or allocation recording is really handy. I do also have a dedicated SSD for the camera (1TB T7 Shield) which is great but is limited to 50/60fps with internal batteries.
      I am using the Feelworld F6 Plus and it's ok for a cheap and cheerful touchscreen. monitor. I am selling off a few bits of camera gear to raise some funds for a new monitor.
      Hopefully that helps.

      @@stevelitton Thanks Steve you're a gem.
      I do have some chunky Sony batteries but I only have the original Power Junkie from back in the day, so would have to get the V2 like you suggested in another vid if I go down that route. Plenty of food for thought!

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  6 місяців тому +1

      @@matthewcole5321 No problem, you're welcome. I would recommend starting out with a couple of extra batteries. You could get 3rd party batteries if your budget is tight. Then if you find you need more continuous power try a power bank. Then if you go down the route of rigging out your camera you could look into the new Power Junkie or V Mount batteries.

    I just tried this method putting tape over the pins on the Kondor Blue dummy battery and still don't appear to have the frame rates unlocked on G9 II. The plot thickens...

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  5 місяців тому +1

      Oh thats interesting. To confirm you are using the 12v barrel jack out to the camera and have the DCC17 Kondor Blue dummy battery? My NPF batteries aren't anything special, would you mind checking for me that you don't have the DR Boost mode enabled.

    • @Jebsly27
      @Jebsly27 5 місяців тому

      @@stevelitton Sure yeah, It is the DCC17 Kondor Blue battery coming out of the 12v jack on the Power Junkie v2. DR Boost seems to be a bit of a ghost feature on the G9 II; it's enabled automatically under some circumstances and not something you can manually control.

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  5 місяців тому

      @@Jebsly27 it's should be available under the video settings. It's only automatic when shooting photos.

    • @Jebsly27
      @Jebsly27 5 місяців тому

      @@stevelitton It's not an option on the G9 II anywhere in the menus. Only i.Dynamic range which is a different thing to my understanding (also turned off). That must be a difference between G9 II & GH6 as I understand DR Boost is a menu option on the GH6.

    • @stevelitton
      @stevelitton  5 місяців тому

      @@Jebsly27 Oh, I thought it was still an option. I didn't realise it was on all the time. That is going to be the issue, thats a pain. The only other thing that limits you to 50/60fps is using ProRes.
