Hello wildlife lovers, and welcome back to another exciting video from Discover Wild Paws. The tiger reserves of India have opened now after monsoons, and we thought this was a perfect time to release a top 7 video for spotting tigers in India.
All these seven tiger reserves and even the ones not on our list are great to visit, but some have better sightings than others when it comes to tiger sighting. Each of us can have a different experience, and this ranking can be different for different people.
On Number 7 is JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK
This place in Ram Nagar, Uttarakhand, is synonymous with Tigers. Do you know Jim Corbett has the highest number of tigers compared to any other Tiger Reserve in India?
We recommend spending at least a night in the forest house of Dhikala Grasslands in Corbett National Park. That experience is beyond anything else offered by other Tiger Reserves in India.
Number 6 goes to Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve
The name "Tadoba" is derived from the name of God "Tadoba," or "Taru," which is praised by the local tribal people of the region, and the name "Andhari" comes from the river "Andhari" which flows in this area. According to stories from the past, "Taru" was killed in a mythological encounter with a Tiger.
Anyone who has visited Tadoba knows the tales of Matkasur and Maya, the most famous tiger and tigress of the area. Their boldness makes their sighting frequent. Matkasur is the father to a lot of tigers in the park, including the famous Chota Matka.
On Number 5 is the NAGARHOLE National Park
If you have heard about or seen the documentary on the famous black panther of Kabini, named Saaya, then you must understand why Nagarhole National Park is number 5th on our list.
You have both options in Kabini. To do a jeep safari or a boat safari.
Number 4 goes to the park which inspired "The Jungle Book" by Rudyard Kipling.
PENCH National Park. This tiger reserve is spread across two different states. A part of it is in Madhya Pradesh, near the famous town of Seoni, and the other part is in Maharashtra, famous for its Khursapur gate.
Together, both the parks have more than 80 Bengal tigers. Not only this, Pench is a great place to find leopards as well.
Even if you don't see the tiger, you can not be bored by its vibe. The famous Mataram, aka Collarwali, is from Pench. Last season, we saw her and the handsome boy L-Mark.
So you all must visit Pench and see what it feels like to do a safari in the Mowgli land.
Pench was a tough fight for number 3, but our third spot is another excellent tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh. The park is named after an Indian God. Any guesses?
    Yes, it's Kanha National Park.
Thanks to the efforts of the forest department of Madhya Pradesh, Kanha is now home to more than 130 Bengal tigers.
The closest airport to Kanha is the Jabalpur airport at around 170 km, but you can also travel via Nagpur, about 300 km.
Alternatively, one can also take a train to Gondia or Jabalpur railway station, and from there onwards take a cab or a bus to the park.
Some famous tigers from the park are Munna, Chota Munna, Bajrang, Bajrang Junior, DJ Female, Balwan
Number 2 is RANTHAMBORE National Park
Ranthambore National Park, one of India's biggest and most renowned National Parks in North India. Located in the Sawai Madhopur district, 130 km from Jaipur, this place is a major tourist attraction and has drawn the attention of many wildlife lovers and photographers. It is believed that only the unluckiest return from Ranthambore without spotting a Tiger.
Now it's time to reveal the number one tiger reserve in India BANDHAVGARH
Located in the Umaria district of Madhya Pradesh in Central India, this park is the hotspot for tiger sightings in India.
The three main zones of the park are Tala, Khitauli, and Magadhi. And we would recommend going to all three, at least once.
To name a few famous tigers of the park, there are Spotty, Dotty, Solo, Kajri, Bheem, Chota Bheem, Bamera, Bamera son, and many more. The list is endless because it is Bandhav Garh, the temple of tigers.

I have been to all Parks except for Ranthambhore and Corbett, and for forest with scenery I will pick Kanha, I loved Bandhavgarh too… it was a beautiful habitat… for if I will pick a park specifically for Tiger sightings at the moment I will have to say Tadoba.
Kabini is good too, but you have less chance to see a male tiger, mostly you can see the most active two tigress and a plus point is you will see elephants and a high chance for Leopards.

      Hi Veronika.
Thanks for your comment. Bandipur is certainly great, as good as Kabini. Better for leoprd sightings compared to tiger sightings, but overall a great park.
Just ensure you go with the right guide/driver.
Also wanted to suggest that if you’re going to take a flight from Goa, you can also consider Tadoba.
Anyway that depends on your port of exit and other plans. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    "Famous tigers"
    *Famous tigers ?*
The most famous of tigers are, of course, those that have the most human scalps under their belts - like the legendary "Champawat tigress" whose exploits have been immortalized by none other than the man who`d eventually managed to put an end to her bloody career as an eater of Northern indian day labourers: Colonel Jim Corbett, the English gentleman hunter turned wildlife photographer and conservationist who made a career out of hunting down man-eating tigers and leopards...and survived to tell the tale in a couple of highly readable books.

I saw 2 tigers and a bear in ranthambore and 5 tigers ( 1 female with 2 Cubs and rest 2 tigers were solitary individuals) gaur, dholes, leopard and python in bandhavgarh. Bandhavgarh has very high tiger density so chances to spot tigers are high on the contrary in ranthambore you'll be allotted zone 6 to 10 having lowest tiger sightings ( 1 to 4 have huge tiger sighting chances) and if you're lucky they'll give u zone 1 to 5
So in my view bandhavgarh is way better option!!

    • @DiscoverWildPaws
      @DiscoverWildPaws  2 роки тому +2

@@himalayantree5849 Indeed well said about Bandhavgarh's tiger density. One point to add is that you can self-book the zone of your choice in Ranthambore. There is no more random allocation of zones.
