Thanks!
Thank YOU! 💓💓💓🐕
Thank you! You are too kind! ♥♥♥
Linh..what a woman..sewing in the sweat shops..takes a break to make lunch then pumps up the tender and is still smiling...the world needs more Linh's...your a lucky Captain Teal.
Emma is becoming the rock star of these videos. You are doing an amazing job to help her become an independant young woman capable of doing anything like her parents.
I think every boat needs a daughter like Emma. Just like her mother - multi-tasker!
Honestly, what super babe is the mother? I'm serious 😎👍
Hi Teal! Here in my country there are companies that specialize in recovering these inflatable dinghy. They peel off all the glued parts, clean the glue, and sand the surface that will receive the new glue and glue all the parts together again. In the USA this must be an expensive service, which makes its implementation unfeasible. But I believe that, in Mexico, this service should be possible. It would be interesting for you to ask Marina if anyone does this service.
Linh is a superwoman: seamstress, cook, dingy 1st mate, bottom scrubber....Jack of all trades, master of all.
She's the best. There hasn't been anything she can't do and do it well. I am a very lucky man.
Linh's "break" is cooking for the crew?!?!😲😲😲😲 Total GEM!!!!!
The vocational education for Emma is excellent!
You already have an electric pump. Hold the exhaust hose of your vacuum over top of the one way valve on the boat! It's almost the perfect pressure and fast.
Send some of that heat this way. This morning in Southern California, where I live, it was 15° below normal. It was a freezing 28°.
We heard it's been pretty cold in the US. Wish we could bottle this heat up for ya! Stay warm!
Great job on the sun covers!
Thank you! Cheers!
What amazing family keeps the dream going
The darker "chaps" you cover it with are causing the heat to build up on the tube. It is softening the mastic and you are getting leaks. Put a cooking thermometer under the the cover and check the temp. Replace the "chaps" with a white cover and I think it will help.
Great job on the hatch covers!
What a great job on all of the covers, especially the big one, Linh. 👍
Time for a new dingy and Lynn you are amazing you take care of your family so well.
I wish you a happy and healthy new year, Emma, Linh, Teal & Compass! Safe travels ❤
My nana used to say Horses sweat, Men perspire and Women glow.
Horses sweat, gentlemen perspire and ladies glow! Keep on. 🤟
You need to order a new OCS dinghy. By far the best dinghy on the market.
An OC 300 all carbon tender will run about $12K, so a little more than double the cost of a Highfield Ultimate 310. Highfield doesn't provide the weight of the 310 - Google says 110 lbs - but the OC weighs just 75 lbs and you'll never have to replace it. Also, the Tohatsu 9.9 is the proper size for this tender.
A huge loss if the expensive dinghy gets stolen
Old age but I enjoy watching
Cheers guys! I remembered who you remind me of Teal, Andrew Savage from myth busters. 😂.
You do, only his got slightly redder hair..
Please send me some of that heat, I live in Scotland just about 20c because it is cold wet and horrible. Plus I am not jumping into the Firth of Forth at this time of year, icicle. Enjoy the warm. Glad your getting better Teal but not as much as Linh is.
WLinh, your multitasking skills are impressive, from sewing to cooking to pumping up the tender, all with a smile on your face. You truly are a lucky captain, Captain Teal. You are a true genius! Plus, feeding everyone on top of it all, you're just amazing. Cheers to the terrific team on SV Basik! Happy New Year! Keep up the great work and happy sailing! 🌊⛵️
Wow, thank you guys!
Linh, ur an absolute Genius, what a fabulous idea and brilliantly executed. And then u feed everyone, what a Woman, u all make a terrific team, Go SV Basik. Happy New Year 💙👌🐕 hugs for the little man. Exactly Linh where's the electric Pump, or better still where's the new Dingy!!!!😲
Next time you go to home depot you should get a roll of radiant insulation, cut it to size and install it in your windows and sew it into your tarps. It will reflect the hot sunlight away from your cat
Emma needs to wear safety glasses when she is using the drill. Especially with the drill overhead 👍
Lin you need to do USA's Master Chef!!! You would kill it!!!
Pumping up the dinghy again. In a couple of shots, it was looking a little sad. 😥 I really loved the music in the beginning of the video.
Time for a new dingy, it's a safety liability at this point.
Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice lunch, guys‼️ Yummmmmmy 🎉🎉🎉 Have to agree with you, time for a dinghy replacement. See you next time. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝️ 👙 🌞 ✨
We agree!
Teal women / wives don't sweat - they glow - get with the program
Scare me..Emma drilling without safety glasses.
Haha, Thank you for updating , we just fit an in-bathroom sauna to enjoy the 45 c heat.....
While we own a rib I have always subscribed to the “fact” that an inflatable is a deflatable waiting to happen !
I could see Basik evolving into a food boat. Kind of like a food truck. Call it Basik Bon Mi. You pull into a crowded anchorage, stock up on supplies, hang out a sign and sell bon mi, charcoal broiled pork or shrimp over vermicelli or rice with fresh veggies, fresh spring rolls, fried egg rolls and iced Vietnamese coffee. People might just sail around the world to anchor near you. I'm about to buy my first King Cake of the Mardi Gras season, which starts tomorrow (Twelfth Night). It will come from Doung Phong Bakery in Metairie, La. They bake what is considered to be the best King Cake in the New Orleans area.
This looked like The Basik crew was in a maintenance way of things fixing the dinghy and making window and shade covers to keep the crew cool. Glad to see Teal on the mends and Linh making a great looking afternoon lunch . Be careful and stay safe and hydrated my friends God love ya guys.
The S/V. Cave Style 😅
It looks so good that Lihn can do the sewing that makes the boat livable in the heat. Maybe buy a electric pump if you are going to hold off on a new dinghy at this time. That way if an emergency you will not take as long to inflate the dinghy. Also I hate to say it but Teal needs to quit using that arm for any reason if he wants it to heal.
When are you girls going to catch on to his tricks? Anytime there’s work to be done.! Yeah sure the arms fine when it’s time to eat,
Good looking covers and shades. Do you think your dingy repairs will hold or is it time for a new dink? You are in a beautiful harbor but the heat is a real problem. Are any parts of the year better? Thank you for sharing. Have a great 2024 and stay safe.🙂🙂
Damn those buns looked tasty. Fresh out of the oven with the meat and other goody. Got hungry instantly....
I wonder if your dark dinghy cover is absorbing too much heat and causing your leak problems? I know on buildings that dark colored stucco can melt EIFS foam underneath it.
Deflector shield??? You're not on the Millennium Falcon 😂😅😊
Disadvantages of living in a boat, when out its hot inside is hotter, when out is cold inside is way colder, but I would love live ona boat
The more effective shading would be on the outside, like the shade covers already outside. I'd suggest shade cloth over the whole cabin roof that is not already shaded, suspended by the boom. Many road work vehicles used in hot climates, like in the outback of Australia and I think the African continent use a false roof, above the roof of the vehicle. So the sun rays only get as far as the false roof, above the actual roof. Your window covers on the inside are definately better than no covers, but if they were shaded on the outside, you would be able to look out of the windows and no (or not much) direct sun (energy) will come inside. I suspect that some heat pouring onto the roof of the cabin may be detected on the ceiling of the cabin at present. Good luck. I know you can do it, with a skilled shade maker, a pro on the tools and your ingenuity in design and "supervision". 😉
Good work! Awesome idea for shades. Sandwiches looked delicious!
PUT FIX-A-FLAT IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
. I recommend going and exploring the hidden villages on the mountains
Y’all need some Nevr Dull aluminum wadding polish…great stuff! Be very careful with that arm Teal or it will never get healed properly, which just won’t work for a Captain!
Lol, we usually have that stuff onboard. Unfortunately, it has finally dried out. Just our luck.
Love me some Banh Mi!!! My mouth was watering!!! No pate though?!🤔
Teal & Emma aren't fans of paté so I omited it for them. 😊
This is for Teal and Teal only. Don't lose that wife. She is truly amazing. Her skill set surpasses many women. Your daughter will not be far behind soon. I think we all question where you found her. But lucky you. Oh, your pretty talented and resourceful too.
I agree, I am a very lucky man to have Linh in my corner. No matter what has been thrown at her, she always manages to take it stride and manages to make it look easy. I don't know anyone who can do that. Emma is becoming a mini Linh and I couldn't be happier about that.
safe travels, stay cool
Maybe buy Linn an electric air pump for new year’s gift. There fairley inexpensive
We now have a 12v pump. The crew, especially Linh is very happy with this new addition.
love your videos
Boats always a work in progress. But they get better with every improvement. Hats off to the team. Happy New Year.
HAPPY NEW YEARS TO THE CREW OF BASIK. First video if the channel i saw was the missle launch. Its been so long ago.
12:56 Work it girl!
Good afternoon, I have a suggestion for repairing your inflatable boat.Try inserting expansive foam into infatable boat. Hope this helps.
Hello Basik....
Reality of living on a boat [there's always something to fix]...
The thing is here is: you all do it so well...
what a gifted and talented family/ crew...[and the food! omg so delicious]...
and that's why you're my favorite sailing family...
Teal, what's the dimension [clear, inside-to-inside where the dingy stows] between the two hulls, aft, at the sugar scoops?
Stay cool!
Charlie
So did Teal say, "So BASICALLY..." or "So BASIKly" {ha} {ha} {ha}
have a great new year and get her a dingy she deserves it
happy new year😎
You too!!
Teal, Happy New Year. I have a question, what is the font for ‘bāsík’? You could have mentioned that in earlier episodes. but I was to engrossed in your fiber-glassing engineering feats with thickened epoxy…
That grilled pork looked yummy. Nice work on the dinghy, it has seen its better days, the fixes will get you by for now.
Emma, we both know, the pork steak bones are the best part of a pork steak.
Hi guys. Any plans for sailing out off Mexico? You have been there for ages. And you know the drill...."If you can't stand the heat........."
Over the last few week's we left Mexico, sailed past Guatemala, El Salvador, and Honduras to spend some time in Nicaragua. We left two days ago for Costa Rica so the scenery is changing!
Bout time you got a compressor on board eh?😊
Time for a dingy sponsored replacement…..what about flex seal ….
Mmm. Bahn mi!!
Donate that dinghy and get a new one. The current one is wayyyyy past it's expiration date teal.
What kind of sewing machine is that? My quilter wife wants to know.
www.sailrite.com/
How’s the prognosis for the wounded Captain coming along ?
Have you looked at having your tender retubed? It's a lot less expensive than replacing the entire dinghy. As long as your hull is in good condition just replace the tube and you're in like Flynn
1st off, love your vids. Emma does a great job narrating.
A couple of suggestions from observations today. Suggestion 1. Emma needs a new entro. She is just growing too fast. She is growing into a young lady to fast.
Suggestion 2. Teal You've said you need to hang onto the dingy til you can get somewhere, where you can purchase one. I'am afraid, your whipping a dead horse. Watching today, even if you fix all of the problems you showed today, it's only going to get worse, rather than better. It's time to get rid of the dingy, even if you have to find an old used one. Just saying. Good luck.
Meanwhile, 5-8" of snow tomorrow for us...... I don't feel ONE BIT sorry for your heat wave LOL ;)
Teal, it's your shoulder, not your elbow. I f'd my shoulder then had constant weird pains in my elbow and wrist ....tricky epoky....😊
Home made Báhn Mi YUMMY!!!
Time for a new dinghy!
I see living at 1’ hence it’s always a bit warm.. aircon runs 24/7 at 25-27 c … from experience what you did works.. keep the sun out.
Oh those dingies, even orca punctures just from barnacles they give a great tide but .. leaks grrr. Hence you see a lot of carbon alternatives now entering the market. In your case Maybe you can just replace the tube for a new one.. way cheaper than full replacement just ask manufacturer. They normally can be replaced.
Maybe you should consider acupuncture for that arm. I struggled similar with a shoulder but after trying a few times, it started to really improve
Ryobi One has an inflator which uses the same 18v batteries as your other tools.
This area is a border town so even with Home Depot, they didn't have it available. They do offer some Ryobi tools though.
Hmm, questions are raised about the shady stuff going on here today. It is a shame you can't pot some heat and send it my way, I am chilly in the UK right now.
Why don't you install a couple of separate ACs so all can enjoy and also a simpel 12V pump so your sweet wife doesn't need to do the "extra" exercise...;)
Love your channel though... 😊
Happy New Year hope 2024 is great for you all
yay!!!
My dinghy, went the same way. Teal, if you can't scrape the surface before applying the glue, it will not hold. GERMAN made PVC is the way to go! It's welded not glued and a bit although not much cheaper.
Now that you have more batteries and solar, was removing the sleeping cabins ac units a good idea?
Chiapas= good coffee and tamales 😊😊
I don't remember ac in the cabins. Maybe individual heaters were replaced with the high efficiency central heating?
😂 My memory plays tricks on me, but I believe they were AC units.
Come back to the US or Canada. It's plenty cool here. 🤣
What are you using for bedding on the windows,i need to do the same job,as i had new windows made, they are fastened like yours.Great channel, been watching from the first,by the way i meet you and your Daughter when you were in Napa marina hauled out, i had Sunny my 10 lb. Morky with me. Fair Winds, Doug
We use butyl tape for most of our hatches and windows. They work great.
You could get a 12 volt air compressor it could help …..happy New Year
well kept vessel. admire how you cope onboard. have seen it ruin many relationships. fair winds...
Just have it re tubed
Lol, easier said than done. There is nothing and nobody here that can do that. We even had a contact with the navy guys here and they don't have supplies to fix something like this. It's pretty remote being on the border of Mexico and Guatemala.
Come on HIGHFIELD HELP MY FAMILY OUT !🎉 Great work on the shades and screens. OH HAPPY NEW YEAR Teil try cutting out carbs and sugar , that has totally healed my sever tendinitis and made knee replacement NOT NECESSARY, After a decade of pain and suffering. The inflammation caused by carbs and sugars goes away and the body heals itself. Try it for 10 days even YOU WILL NOT DISSAPOINTED. CHEERS AND FAIR WINDS Steve h.
small portable air compressors are CHEAP.....
So when does Emma start her shade making internship? Will it count towards her work study credits?
have you considered more efficient marine AC units ?
what make is that boat? is it a homebuilt?
She is a 1993 Featherlight 435 designed by Jace Hobbs and built by Mastermold Composite services in Florida. Constructed of polypropylene honeycomb with a dry weight of 8,500 lbs.
@@OnboardLifestyle thanks for the info. She's a pretty boat.
What happened to your arm Teal?
Get a new dingy. Something like the Wynns or La Vagabond.
OC Tenders are in high demand and they have a waiting list for them.
Just curious why does most boaters buy an inflatable verses a hard dinghy? Is it weight?
