Not really funk. A lot of Currents borders on funk but sounds more like psych pop/disco to me. With funk you get more scratchy rhythm guitars (see Kiss by Prince), this sound is definitely more representative of disco and is that yacht rock I hear?

At times I have felt like Kevin Parker was me in the future making music about how I feel right now. So relatable.
i discovered this song at a point in time where the uk was in its first shutdown, and in which school had been cancelled. i had found tame impala through a friend and was discovering more music by him on a daily basis. it was a really nice time, i was free, the weather was great, and i had a naïvety that i cannot replicate. with the aforementioned good weather in hand, my siblings and i enjoyed the time to the fullest, spending each day as we could. truly the stuff that i will be telling my grandchildren. this song, when i first heard it on a warm day in april, made me think that i should use the good weather to the fullest, and now, here i am, writing this at 2 am, and im so grateful i did.
i am really glad that there is a song that bring me back to a certain place, and a certain time, in which i felt truly at peace and at home.
the top comment says, "this is going to make us cry when we are older", and i believe that time has already come, just 2 years later. and knowing how much i adore this song, i will come back, and return to this comment in 7 or 8 months, and be reminded of that time period previously mentioned, and the one in which i am writing this.

@@eduardoflores5255 Opinaba lo mismo, ya no va a volver al estilo raw psychedelia de lonerism y innerspeaker pero suena muchísimo menos bland que la mayoria de temas de currents. Una cancion estilo "Yes I'm chamging o "Reality in Motion" pero con un sonido mucho mas colorido y marcado.

its because he's found meaning in the universe through his art you should do the same. it doesnt mean he hasn't gone through hardship, but has learned from it and is trying to currently be at peace with the higher maxims of our reality. you look young theres still plenty of time to slip into a more positive mindset

Not only does Kevin Parker enjoy having to the heavy psych rock of the 60s, but he does love the disco tone of the 70s. I really enjoy listening to tame impala music, because it reminds of the stuff my parents introduced me to. The Beatles, The Who,The Beach Boys,Jimi Hemdrix,Led Zeppelin,Abba,KC and the Sunshine Band,Journey,Queen,etc.
I mean this guy truly is an artist, because he shares the same interests that everyone around him has, including me. He understand beauty,and the idea that song is not just a platform to listen and do crazy things with it, it's meant for something greater, it allows people including myself, an escape from this crazy world, and to not run away from the problems that lie ahead, but stand up to those problems and dance all over them, and finally to make something out of it.
Right again, especially if you have an idea for a song, if it's about shaking your privates, than that's just bullshit. But if it's about something meaningful, than it's a masterpiece. Sometimes a disco song can set the mood for a dance floor, but other times it has an intellectual property, it's just pure feelings, even when I started listening to rock music, i know what I wanna listen too. I can lay off the emotional side a bit, just to jam out to guns and roses, Led Zeppelin, etc. But yeah A Day in the Life, by the Beatles. It's a great time, Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys.
