I wish that there was a time machine to take me back in time and see all of Art Fleming's Jeopardy! shows from 1964-75 (NBC), 1974-75 (weekly syndication) and 1978-79 (NBC) all over again.

Not to mention, this was the main theme (after Art enters the stage). The contestant intro is "January February March", also by Merv Griffin.

Yes. "January February March" was the main theme for the first syndicated pilot taped September 18, 1983 featuring Alex Trebek and Jay Stewart, whom is probably best known for announcing the game show "Let's Make A Deal". The commercial break cue was "Nightwalk", another then future prize cue for Wheel. That's also when "Think!" by Merv Griffin had returned. The alliteration of "Think!" didn't become the main theme until a pilot taped New Year's day 1984 when Johnny Gilbert has first announced on the show. The music from the original 1964-1975 series of Jeopardy on NBC was titled "Take Ten" by Merv's then wife Julann Griffin, or, more commonly known as Julann Wright.

Having recently see "The All-New Jeopardy!" for the first time, I can't help but wonder why they even changed the format. Thank goodness they changed it back to the original format when Alex Trebek took over, and he's done it ever since. I believe in the proverb, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," and that's what they should have done.
Art Fleming was a phenomenal host, however, so a plus was seeing him still doing the show he did best.

My guess would be -- and this is only a guess -- that it was common practice at the time for game shows to have bonus rounds where champions were given a shot at winning $5K, $10K, whatever, and I would guess Merv wanted to make that possible with Jeopardy! as well. But that idea, of course, didn't fly with those who were avid fans of the original Jeopardy!

@@fredmckinney8933 I wouldn't be surprised. The change in the final round in this version didn't bother me as much as the fact that at the end of the Jeopardy! Round, the player in last place is eliminated.

I remember vaguely watching the 78-79 Jeopardy!!with Art Fleming when I was between 6 & 7 years old who absolutely loved game shows but not really paying full attention like an adult would. Also I remember that FRISCO DISCO theme from the nighttime syndicated Wheel Of Fortune when started with contestants spending their winnings GOING SHOPPING before switching to cash in late 1987.A shout out to the original Wheel team Chuck Woolery & Susan Stafford & then Pat Sajak and Vanna White!! RIP ART FLEMING JOHN HARLIN MERV GRIFFIN JACK CLARK CHARLIE O'DONNELL & LAST BUT NOT LEAST ALEX TREBEK WHO HOSTED 8,200+EPISODES OF JEOPARDY! since returning in 1984 until his death in 2020(the show returned in 84) TOO bad I was going on 3 years old when the original Art Fleming JEOPARDY! went off the air Jan 3 1975 after 2,836 shows.

Yes, the look of the strikes were changed about 3 or 4 weeks into the show's run, and I would expect that that was probably because the word "strike" as it originally appeared wasn't very legible on TV.

I don't know if it was changed at some point during the run, but the picture at 0:42 shows a different-looking "STRIKE" picture in Super Jeopardy!
The pictures from the non-circulating episode may be from the 1978 Pilot, given that the another picture from the same episode at 1:59 gives the date as 1978.
And I really doubt that Merv was out of the country for two years.
