I always pack a Sarong with me. It does a few duties, I use it as a robe when I get ready, as a cover up if I go to the pool. As a shawl if I get cold, and I also cover up my open suitcase (I usually never unpack in the room and just grab things out of the suitcase) with it so it looks less messy. And lastly I always place it on top of my clothes as a protective top when it’s in the suitcase. Since they are light and compact it takes up no space!
I use a charging cable with an interchangeable end so it can be used for my phone, kindle, partner's phone, portable speaker etc. Really cuts down on cables and plugs.
Whenever packing I always try and lay out everything I want to take, go away from a few hours and come back, and then I always end up removing a bunch of stuff. I find every time I travel I bring less and less stuff. I think it’s also important to remember that unless you’re going to somewhere incredibly remote, if some unforeseen event pops up you could always purchase something when you’re on holidays if you were completely caught out with something you needed. The reality is that all the “possible” scenarios that we use to justify taking this, that and the other, almost never happen.
Great video. My personal experience with a son who is 6’5” and wears a size 14 shoe, is that large people are forced to make these choices. Every item takes up a little or a lot more room than someone who is average. Luckily in his case, he isn’t interested in fashion or variety! On one vacation, I coaxed my thin, 5’8” daughter into putting her brothers flip flops (beach sandals) into her carry-on! No exaggeration, due to the differences in the size of their clothes and shoes, she is able to pack twice as much as he is able to pack.
These "pack with me" videos are always so satisfying for me to watch! I know I'm a bit late in watching this one, but I hope the trip was fun, enjoyable and relaxing for you, Ashlynne!
Ashlynne, you are so comfortable now with the camera. I remember you addressing the way you speak before and look at you now! 💓 watching from the Philippines!
I really like the idea of packing all together in only a backpack, but It seems pretty bulky and measurements are almost like a cabin suitcase....so in this case I'll go for a cabin suitcase or a smaller backpack (like 20L)....Don't particularly like to carry 30L into my back! Anyways, great video, it's cool to see how other people do their travel packs! 💞🐻
I hope this doesn't come off as weird or anything, but I love the way you talk! Your voice is very relaxing. Also, really great video and I learned a lot from it for an upcoming trip I'm having!
I completely forgot to comment when I first saw this but I was definitely going out of town the weekend you posted this and I definitely used this and I found some very helpful solutions. I did have things that I realized that I did not use which shows even though I packed so little I still packed too much. When I would have used such a huge luggage before. Thanks a million for all ur help
I live out of my pack. I have the Nomatic Peter McKinnon 35L. I have 5 outfits packed in a pair of compression cubes. This pack lives in my car and I carry the McKinnon cube pack from the car to the house, to work, etc. In there I have one outfit, my toiletry bag, towels, mess kit, food and whatever else fits in the 21L of space. I reduced my clothing to 7 outfits plus seasonal add ons. I"m always on the move, so this works best for me.
Hi ! I used to be the guy who packs the steamer trunk. Now I travel with a backpack like you do! A few of my travel essentials are a portable battery for my phone as you never know when you can’t find an outlet while traveling. Also the eagle creek compression packing cubes have been a game changer along with a sleeping eye mask definitely my iPad as well. I also just recently invested in the Lewis N Clark pill wallet. It packs flat instead of trying to have bottles. You put your pills in little pouches in the wallet. hope you had a wonderful trip! ✈️
Love this! My boyfriend and I are going to spend a couple days at his family cottage and I’m really going to try and focus on just bringing the essentials this time! Great video!!
Hi Ashlynne, great video. I have had the pakt travel backpack in mind for quite some time and it is great to see someone I support support a brand that I like. I would love to know how you organize your pack and your experience with the bag. Keep up with the great work!
Great video, Ashlynne! My travel essentials are a blue tooth speaker (love to listen to my favorite music where ever I am!) and a scented candle. I wish you could show us properly in the video all of your clothes that you've packed (not just rolled up. That would be easier to see all the clothing items and imagining the outfits). Love your style and your videos 💗👌
Oh my. We have the same bag. Backpack that opens like a suitcase. Although mine doesn't have the front compartment that really acts as a backpack so it's a little hard for me to get the important things (wallet, cellphone). I have to bring another small sling bag just to have a place for the important things. Though great tips you have. I will definitely try it when I have a chance to travel. 😊😊😊 Godbless.
In my experience, if you go out for 2 days you can manage with very little luggage. If you go for 3 - 10, you need the same amount of things! Last time I packed very few T-shirts, and then had to buy some more!
I'm a horrible packer!! I pack everything but the kitchen sink!! Haha. After this video, I definitely need to redo my packing (for when I go next time)
Great video! My travel essentials align with yours other than I don’t bring a laptop or camera, usually an iPad will come with me though. Thanks for your tips and links! It’s great to check out some brands I haven’t heard about - I love that linen sleeveless you packed!
Friendly tip: If you’re looking for a good travel backpack but don’t want to pay almost $300, you can get a much more affordable bag from eBags or Rick Steves. I have an eBags backpack, and it’s amazing.
@@SachinS-sf2vm eBags is amazing quality. The zippers are the heaviest duty zippers I’ve ever seen, the stitching is really strong, and the fabric is extremely durable. Read the reviews for more feedback, but I have a lot of eBags items and have liked them all.
Yeah I agree! Cuz I'm not dropping 300 up to 600.00 like many of these UA-camrs who refuse to pay 60-100 on baggage.... but buy a freaking 300-600.00 bag???? Literally makes no sense to me!
I prefer a little pencil pouch with a zipper for my hygiene products such as pads, tampons ect. and in my purse also it is good to have some in case your period comes while you are on your trip unexpectedly! I have 2 daughters who are 12 and 4 so i like to keep them handy!!
I'm packing right now, too! The clothing I need for a week: one turtleneck, one T-shirt, and a pair of pants. I'll also wear the turtleneck and the pants on my way to the airport, so all I have to pack is a T-shirt and some spare underwear :D Welll... Maybe I'll pack a spare pair of pants, too :D
I have been thinking about buying this backpack because it’s just so practical.. but I’m very skeptical only because of the size. I’m 4’11” so I don’t know if this will be extremely big for me.
Some companies have back packs for a smaller frame. The straps are in a different position and shaped differently. It helps. For example the Tortuga Setout or Setout Divide Backpack for women ($180). There are many others. Some seasoned travellers get away with a 22-24 litre backpack even for a month long trip unless they are needing very warm clothes and big jackets. You might consider the three way styles that carry as brief case, shoulder bag and backpack. e.g. Hackpack, Tom Bihn and QWSTION. I use XD Design.
Your video very cool👍😊 l want to travel, I like it, but because of pandemic, flights from Russia are limited. I really want to visit to US😍 especially at Christmas Eve. My favorite things I take on my travels are comfy trainers 👟 , jeans, and a pair of T-shirts. Also take my phone and charger. And don't forget about the documents 😄
Ohhhh ! That’s such a good idea! As like body wash/ bar as well? Or I guess in that case you can use the hotel provided ones? I’m literally the person that packs a HUGE bag just for the washroom essentials 🥴 really trying to minimize it

What are some your favorite travel essentials? 🌍
Water bottle & electrolyte packets. Aleve. Flask. Tupperdor. Cash.
Sunblock for the beach
