I love the Lumbee and Cherokee people. My Ancestry has deep roots in American Indian. My ancestors originally lived in North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. DNA has established the strong connection that I have to Native Americans on both my mother's and father's side. And the oral traditions I heard from both family units has been established. Speaking of the government's refusal to recognize the Lumbee nation as a federally recognized unit, I bet if the government saw the Lumbees as a money making unit, they would be recognized because it's all about greed, moneymaking, and controlling Native Americans as a source of revenue.
We were a money making unit for them in the early 1900s.. the gvnmnt had plenty of agricultural interests and projects going on w the Lumbee. Particularly our phenomenal farming abilities and skills at reading the coming farming seasons and adapting to it.

They are tri-racial like the vast majority of the remaining East Coast tribes, by that same token a huge portion of today's Cherokee Nation(Oklahoma) can be considered Caucasian (European) due to the low blood qautum requirements. East coast indians have been intermixing since colonial Virgina. The early Lumbee ancestors a descendants of Indians from small tribes along coastal Virgina and the descendants of free blacks mixed race (African-Europen) unions usually children who's parents were Indentured servants A white woman and a African man. Colonial records show the Pamunkey,Chicahominy,Nasemond,Gingaskin,Meherrin, and Nattoway,Metopkin and Weyanoke, as frequently intermarrying with Free Blacks. The Gingaskin in which the Lumbee share early ancestors lost their reservation due to belief that their blood line was too intermixed with black blood and that they were no longer real indians. People's of color ancestors are constantly being dictated by colonial definitions of racial purity. For example Benjamin Jealous who was the former president of the NAACP is 80% European (according to autosomal testing) he looks like any white man in appearance, but he is still considered Black under the societal basis of the one drop rule, any amounts of African-Black makes you black and basically erases the rest of your identity. Why should Native people who were faced with survival threw intermarriage vs going completely extinct be forced to say there identity doesn't matter over another based upon the European ideals of racial admixing. There are 35,000 estimated Lumbee not all of them are in this video. I have seen Lumbee who's African ancestry is strongly present in phenotypes, I have seen Lumbee who's Native American ancestry is strongly present in phenotypes, I have seen Lumbee who look very close to European in nature, similarly to the variation seen amongst the African Americans community who remain culturally black African Americans no matter how non-African they look (after 300 years of admixing). White people are not subjected to these same rules and over examination as people of color
I think "Lumbee Nation" is a more historical reality, being that there are so many historical facts concerning the actual ethnic cultural and racial heritages of the entire people's.

The Lumbee DNA Project shows significantly less Native American ancestry than would be expected with 96% African or lesser percentage of European Y-chromosomal DNA. What is truly not being reviled is that a majority of what we call African Americans are truly Native Americans that were enslaved on their owned land, especially in the Southern Eastern states of this country.
Absolutely 1000% correct, and the whole slave narrative is just that, a fiction of groce proportion and exaggerated beyond the numbers. The vast majority of west Africans ended up in south America and mostly brazil, comprising the largest number of Africans living outside the continent.
