A BIG THANKS to AMD for sending the card.
I also forgot to add a STOCK vs OC comparison. ALTHOUGH, i can can happily tell you that my next GPU comparisons will all include STOCK + OC results. In case of RX 6800, it will even include OC+SAM results, so stay tuned for the next videos :D
Fabio, please test graphics cards on Topaz app 'Video Enhance AI', it's a video app that enhances quality of video image using AI algorithms (they use FP16 and FP32 backed so they don't use/need Tensor Cores). It's very heavy on GPU and CPU
this tuning looks much better then the 5000 series
Please also include Ultrawide benchmarks as well if you can. You are pretty much the only person that does them and i really like those.
Thanks for your hard work, I am watching you from Russia, waiting for my paid card. It would be nice to see without SAM too to understand the benefits of overclocking, thanks!
amd have so many issue for video card's , I have not closed a single year that I have the 5700 XT saphire nitro+ ,in the beginning I had a lot of black screen then it has stabilized for a while and now it shows me wattman issue or just close the game , I really regret I can not play Why I can not fix drivers I have tried everything to do Does anyone know something to fix all this....a small example I have two screens and when I play the screens turn black for a while and then it comes back to normal if I press play The game will play again many times it will bring out the wattman issue in Windows or it will just do nothing
Thanks, first time I'm doing an OC/Undervolt. Before my temps was getting a little hot on some 1440p max settings titles with my new 6800xt msi gaming trio. I undervolted from 1150 to 1025+ set clock to 2100 & tuned freq from 2474 to 2400, and followed the rest of your settings. Temps went from like 80/high 80s to 70c/lower, and Junction Temps went from like 100 to 80/less. Still hitting 144hz on my previous in-game graphics settings with so much better temps. Thank you, much love.
Great to hear that
This has been one of the most educational videos I've seen and has really helped me out! Thanks for the tutorial and Overclocking profiles you shared. I'm currently using the 21.4.1 profile and it is amazing. Tested Horizon Zero Dawn in 4K Ultimate Settings and averaged 69 FPS. Before that I was averaging around 59.
Great to hear! I have way more videos that i am sure you would enjoy!
@@AncientGameplays I'll be watching out for them! I've always recommended your channel to a PC group on Facebook. You've been a huge help for those in the AMD community.
I just wanted to drop by and thank you for this absolutely amazing video! This is my first time with an AMD card and my 6800 XT Red Devil did get a bit too hot at times. Undervolted to 1075 mV (very conservative, I think) and while I didn't really push for an freq overclock and my fan curves are still pretty aggressive, I found that Gears 5 just barely reaches 80 degrees on my junction temperature now (big improvement since it reached 115 C at some point).
Once again, thank you very much for your content!
Great to hear! Enjoy :D
Never overclocked a GPU before, but with your explanation it was actually so easy to do. Also the 12 Mhz memory offset is very interesting, that explains why mine was sitting at 1988-1990 all the time, very cool.
Great to hear that :D
Thank you Fabio for your quality videos brother! You’re one of my favorite UA-camrs bro! Keep up the great work dude and send one of them 6800’s my way lol.
Thanks for the words
Thank you for the tutorial, your settings worked fine for me!
Thanks for this tutorial! It helped me fine-tune my 13400F + RX 6800 build. I managed to get rank 1 in Time Spy for same build as of this writing. More power to you!
Nice 💪💪 check my video section as well
Thank you Fabio. Coming from a 5700XT, the OC'ing on the 6800XT is vastly improved and much less confusing than on the 5700XT in general.
Indeed
Subbed. Love the detailed walkthroughs
Thanks :D
Finally got my Powercolor Red Dragon RX 6800. Immediately came looking for this video. AMD did a really good job in engineering and upgrading the hardware to make it more power-efficient. 1V only for boosting up to 2400Mhz. Can't wait to see some driver improvements over time.
I have the same card so it doesn't go up to 2410? Mine crash even if I put voltage around 950
@@aplaceinthesky82silicon lottery sir. every card is different
I'd like this video a thousand times if i could! Your exact settings didnt quite work for my XFX MERC 6800xt, but I workshopped them a tiny bit (I needed a bit more juice, 1000mV since the MERC is a beefy card), and overall this was so much help! It also helped dispel the fear I had. My highest temps in the game that made me search for this guide have gone from the low 90s to low 70s!!!! Thanks a million again!
My 6800xt MERC is at 2650 MHz (Max Freq) and 950 mV. Running these setting lost less than 10 points on Heaven Benchmark while the heat was ~25° C lower than default settings.
Hi, did you guys manage to set Fast timing for this specific GPU? Mine crashes hard my entire PC when set it (23.12.1). Also, how was going with that voltage at this time? Thanks!
Fabio always a real one. I just ordered a 6800xt while everyone was distracted with the 6900 so hopefully that’ll be here before Christmas and I get to try these new settings
Hope it arrives soon!
So much changes to your setup and your delivery, yet your content has remained to be of excellent quality. Thank you for covering AMD GPUs to a great detail.
I searched for this video as I bought a new 6800, at its lowest price in 2 years. Following your video and the Adrenalin 2023!
Thank you!
did you just copy his GPU tuning settings straight from the video?

Nice work Fabio❤️
Thanks!
This got me ~5-10 % additional FPS on my reference 6800. Thanks, bro!
Now activate SAM :D
@@AncientGameplays I'm running a 3700X on an X-470. Updated my board's BIOS and have seen SAM support there now. Will SAM work with my rig?
Ofc, sam works with rx 6800 series, its a big boost in most games, watch my vega 56 vs 5700xt vs 6800 video. I have sam on and off results there
@@AncientGameplays I will! Thanks for the info, brother!

Really great video! Thank you for the guide. I'm going to do this as I just got my rx 6800 and I have a feeling this is going to be really great. :)
Excelente, acabei de comprar uma RX 6800 e é minha primeira GPU da AMD. Esse vídeo foi uma mão-na-roda, já que pretendo brincar com esses parâmetros assim que colocar a placa pra rodar. Obrigado!

Just followed your guide and now my rx 6800 feels much better , thank you good sir
Eager to try this out in a few months. Cheers.
Thank you. Very helpful video. My firestrike and timespy scores are in the excellent range now.

got mine working with exact settings as you minus the voltage. i had to bump it up to 920 and it was stable. thanks for the OC tutorial!
Glad it helped

Thank you Hugo
Thanks a lot! I appreciate the guide!
Thank you
new driver came out 12.1.2020 and video is amazing thanks alot
Thanks for the guide! I noticed that if I set voltage to 900mv without expanding the power limit that my card will crash. Now after watching your guide, I maxed out the power limit first and set the voltage to 900mv without crashes. Passed the first benchmark!
Yes, because the slider works as an offset. Increasing the power limit makes the frequency go higher, hence increasing the base voltage, making the offset slider work fine :D
Great video!
I don't have a new card yet.
But! I already know more about it than about the old one when I bought it :)
Love your Videos as always, you are without a doubt my #1 UA-camr when it comes to checking drivers :)!
Also is there any plans on doing a UC + OC Video on the Vega 64? I know you did one for the 56, but I feel like a more detail Video would be very helpful.
Much love and stay safe brother ♥️
Thanks for the words. Cant do it on vega 64 since i dont have one
so happy I found this video, thank you thank you thankyou
You're welcome :D
Excelente tutorial,meu querido parceiro
Thanks for the vid! I'll revisit this once I actually get a 6800 lol
Great haha :D
Thankyou for the informative and entertaining video! I have overclocked my 6800 xt and I gained about 10% performance
Thanks for watching
Thanks for the helpful video. I will OC my card using your settings as a baseline. I just got a reference 6800xt and I've noticed a couple of times Adrenalin has disabled advanced control fan settings on its own after I have turned them on. Have you experienced this before? I read somewhere to try disabling Windows fast boot to help with this, but I think it's had this behavior even when my PC hasn't been restarted. Any thoughts?
Also, I know with some other software I've had in the past when I linked a game's .exe to it it did not always trigger the profile to launch. Is Adrenalin pretty reliable for this or flakey? I would prefer to have the OC profile run only when gaming and not 24/7 since I only game a couple of hours a week.
P.s. Have you ever watched Silicon Valley? You kind of remind me of Gilfoyle on that show when your hair is long.
Orsum my man thank you!👊🏼
You're welcome
Hey thank you for this guide.
I was able to get all of these settings applied but at 950mv and 2500mhz max clock speed.
Current temp reached a max of 70°C and tjunct of 90°C while doing stress test.
I live in Hawaii and it get fricking hot here so this is awesome to help reduce temps.
Update: I made a custom fan curve and it's much better :)
On the non xt 6800 ?
Thanks, this was the first vid I watched when my 6800 arrived.

Thank you again Fabio!!!
I just upgrade from my old warrior Vega56 to a 6800xt and again you help me to get the best settings with your videos!
I was trying 4k Ultra Settings in some games and my card was almost hitting 90c in 30min of gameplay X_X
And after the adjusts the temps now are between 60c and 70c ^^
I personaly prefer to run my cards cool and quiet and at low consumption, even at cost of 5 or 10fps in 4K.
Oh and good thing the AMD release SAM to Ryzen 3000 trought Bios updates, so i will keep my 3600 till upgrade to a R7.
Keep Going Bro!
Glad to hear this :D
hello mate. can u share ur settings? Gonna take the same card very soon.
Thnx
Hi Fabio, came a over your video and wanted to tune my RX 6800 and its works great now. I created custom profile and use these settings, Min FR 2300MHz/Max FR 2400MHz/mV 855/Mem timing fast/Mem FR 2112MHz/Fan 55% (zero off). Play on an 32" 1440p always and also trying out FRTC now (put it on 175 FPS) to lower TGP Power around 140W. The card never goes over 69C and push freq 2402MHz when I game. Hi! Thanks so much for making this video! Very clear and well explained.
I just got a RX 6800. It's my first GPU and still getting my head around it. Going through this video I noticed that on my computer the clock speed under VRAM tuning is MUCH lower MHz (2 digits). (Max fan speed was also originally set to 60 so I left it at that) Any advice? Thanks! :)
The idle frequencies being lower is usual, mine are fixed now also, you need to see them in game. use MSI afterburner for that
@@AncientGameplays Thank you! Will definitely try MSI afterburner. It might be exactly what I need to resurrect the Sims 3, which is a bit of a cursed game. 😄
Fala Fábio, peguei uma 6800XT no lugar da Vega 56, quanto acha que devo colocar nas frequências, voltagem e vRAM ?

Do it, listen closely to what I say :D
Thank you for this Video. It really helped me. You´ve got yourself a new subscriber. But can you answer one question that I have?....
I am using an LG 4K TV that uses HDMI 2.0 and I am seeing graphical glitches in games when using Raytracing. Those glitches look like little boxes and are different colors.... It looks like denoiser is not finishing on time. Do you think that HDMI 2.1 Cable would solve my issue?.... The best game to test it is Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War... Set Resolution to 4K and Render Resolution to 50%. All other settings to MAX and all Raytracing Settings to High or Ultra. Thank you in advance
As of 2024, I was able to undervolt my XTX 6800XT Merc Black from 1150mv to 950mv and hit up to 2666MHz without any stability issues by setting the min to 2600 and max to 2700. I'm blown away by how counterintuitive it is that lower voltages give you higher MHz. It's given me a significant boost to FPS in GPU bound scenarios like 4K gaming, but even in CPU bound games that reach really high FPS like OW2 it boosts performance a little more. The only game where lower voltages and higher MHz seems to give me lower performance is in baldurs gate 3 even at 4K in DX11 mode, haven't tried with vulkan.
Hi, i have the same gpu, are you still stable?
Your english is very good. Nice Vid. you have my abo^^

Ggreat you enjoyed it! i have a lot more videos that you may like :D
Probably would have mentioned to not blast VRAM frequency too high if also tightening the timings, just like with DRAM overclocking. Idk how different the 6800 is and yours may have been a higher bin but on my Pulse 6800xt fast timings and 2050 frequency on the VRAM started to produce very subtle color errors/artifacts in games like Monster Hunter World indicating my VRAM was getting just a little bit too hot. I read somewhere that turning on fast timings was already like adding 100 mhz in terms of stress which adds up somewhat with what I got, currently run it at 2030 fast timings stably with an undervolt and core clock oc.
we have the same card what are your tunings can i see it

@@AncientGameplays oh lol! Thought u got yours down to 900. 😅😂
@@MrPiccolop Oh, my bad, thought this was the 6700XT video haha
Love your videos, would you be overclocking and undervolting rx 6700 xt anytime soon?
Once i get one yeah, i was told i would have an answer for that his week :D
Mine is an XT version, but the parameters I did were pretty much the same, lol (mine comes at default with 1150 Mv and clocked at 2461) but as you say, even for the XT, i noticed the sweet spot (performance, consumption and temp wise) is 2400, now mine reached the same frequency as yours (2350 effective max) but using exactly 1000 mv (havent really tried any lower, but it was already starting to drop some clock speed with anything below that so) and i assume it is because of more CUs and what not in the die, needs more juice to keep them going. I never touch power limit, leave it at 0, just a personal choice, your way is just as valid as mine ( I usually leave a notch up the voltage to compensate in case of any spike) as for the ans, i think the XT heats up a bit more, because even with a "bigger" cooler" i set the fans to max 68% (1900ish rpm, they are not very loud at all though, i think my case is not very good for this card either) and i see gaming temps between 65 to 70 while on full load (will need to wait until summer to see how bad it gets then) no cero RPM as I like air circulating into the card regardless of what its doing, lol
As I told you on a previous video (did not want to fully spoil you de surprise) this RDNA 2 generation are undervolting kings lol, AMD also did a good job with the reference cooler, to the point I'd say is kind of pointless going for AIBs if your just going to give it a regular use, and drivers so far have been fantastic, even for undervolting or overclocking.
did you apply vram tuning as well?
Obrigado novamente
Fico contente de ter ajudado
Thanks! Will try these! Almost feels like bios flashing the 6800 to 6800xt.
Hahah, it is possible (maybe)
Hi my friend,
I have overclouded my GPU also but sometimes my fans spin at 1830 RPM. Do I need to make a fancurve or just set fanspeed at 55 like you did? I haven’t seen u make a custom fancurve so I was wandering. Thanks!
different models have different temps and fan speeds, you can adjust them though
Hi Fabio, would love your input on this. I undervolt my card (RX 6800) with the exact same settings as yours, then i tried Unigine Heaven. Then, i saw that the voltage is actually fluctuating, it even touched the default which is 1025. Is this normal? This is my first time undervolting and to me, i feel like the Adrenalin just ignored the setting. Also, i don't know why but the fan went straight to 1600 RPM, even though the temperature is like 45c. Would love your guidance in this, thanks for your time.
Yeah, the voltage has an offset for stability, it depends on the card vbios as well. But the lower the selected voltage, the lower the offset is aswell
Bom vídeo e adoro o teu sotaque tuga
Obrigado
Not sure what is wrong with my RX 6800? Works perfect when left untouched but the moment you tweak it a bit it starts heving problems causing games to crash or PC just restarting. Even only undervolting causes time spy to crash. Could it be a weak PSU (CM 650 watt gold)? Never had this problem running a watercooled 5700XT with a heavy overclock with the same PSU. Asking because I don't want to spend money on a higher wattage PSU just to find out I still have the same problems.
(old video I know but I can try)

Hi, when are you going to do a tutorial to do a good setup on the 6900XT? Thank you
Hey man, i could do one if i had one of those cards haha. Although, you can follow these steps for your card :D
Is there a known way to change values shown as percentages on these settings? i cant see the actual mVhs but just a 0-100% slider...
Ok i watched this just for curiosity sake, but the part where you talk about power limit and how it can increase performance out the bat... i tried it with my 5500 xt and it worked! So freaking happy right now.
Great to hear, but i have a video solely for 5500XT :D
Are theses settings ok for an everyday OC while gaming ? It won't harm the GPU over time ?
Ofc not, watch the video man
So with the 2020.12.01 AMD drivers comes with an auto-tuning option. I have an "MSI Radeon RX 5700 XT Gaming X" and my question to you is what is a better option to use for more FPS ???
- Undervolt GPU = I get 1150mv
- GPU Clocked = I get 2079 MHz
Thanks
i was wondering if you had a fix for the 5700xt shadows, reflections and, some textures looking bad?
Great guide I tuned my rx 570 as practice before my 6800xt comes in.
Thanks
I have a Nitro + SE. i have Voltage of 950 Min Freq 2450 and max to 2600. So far working amazing
Hello, do you know if these cards are locked at 225W max? i noticed with the same settings it runs better at 900 mV than 1000 mV
Mais um excelente vídeo. No meu caso, minha placa é uma RX 6800 OC de fábrica, posso ainda fazer overclock encima dela ?
Claro que sim Luca, um abraço
Is it still ok to increase the power limiter if I have the minimum recommended psu(650w)? Or will it not work
