  • Here we have a Honda Fit that was in limp mode and we checked the spark plug we check the coil it was getting gas to compression showed only 25 psi so we knew it probably was a burnt valve and it will show taking it apart and that's what it was so I hope this might help somebody if they're doing the same thing or have a car acting the same way thanks for watching

You can buy boroscope , and inserted to the spark plug to verify the burnt valve.

This engine seems to need a valve adjustment at least by 105,000 miles and if you wait too long it can ruin exhaust valves. The Haynes manual says valve adjustment is only needed if the valves are loud but I’ve read that the exhaust valve clearances tend to decrease over time rather than increase so if they’re the problem we’ll never hear them.
I have a 2009 Fit and low and behold almost every exhaust valve clearance was smaller than the minimum specified in the Haynes manual. One was about 33% below the minimum so I guess I’m lucky to have caught it before it caused (noticeable) problems. (Car had 146,000 mostly highway miles at the time but the valve clearances may have been adjusted around 40,000 as part of a different repair.)
Edit: Realized the clearances I saw may have resulted from as little as 100,000 miles.

you have a plugged fuel injector giving it just enough gas to run but too much air causing it to get a really hot flame. clean the injector or replace it

Were your spark plugs all in one piece? I had the exact same issue on the same cylinder. Isnthis a common issue?

Might want to get your alternator tested, that's my guess 😬

Otherwise I've heard a lot of issues with aftermarket coils, might be worth it to get an OEM coil. Or could be an electrical short somewhere... Unfortunately it's hard to diagnose over the internet lol

@Jay Yoyo honestly it's just a guess haha. Thinking back on it, it's a bad guess. It's probably more likely a grounding issue or the coil itself having a short inside (cheap coils can do this). I always buy OEM coils from the manufacturer directly. It's wayyy more money but you know it's done right and they typically have the same warranties
Coils usually have lifetime warranties at some places, I'd take it back to the place it was purchased and get it warrantied with a new one

@Jay Yoyo idk I looked up on Google just now and it says it can be an internal short in the coil causing it to melt. Otherwise it has to be a grounding issue of some degree. But melting means shorting or too much resistance (grounding issue)
Only other thing is heat from an external source which then you gotta wonder why is it so hot right there lol

@Jay Yoyo I doubt that... How is it gonna reach the coil? Maybe the spark plug getting hot and transferring to the coil?

you would think things were made to be easy to fix your own vehicle. not.... i think i would have a hard time trying to figure out where everything goes back in to place. ooops i forgot a bolt or i dropped a bolt.

This makes me want to have a 1969 VW bus again. The whole engine could be removed in 20 minutes and a cylinder head off in another 10.
