The thing about such colleges is thst we don't get opportunities for internships. Companies don't hire students for internships, leave that aside, but even when students get internships through off campus, we come across attendance issues. We hardly get 1 or 2 month long vacations, so doing internships is next to impossible. I did one internship of a month, that too I had to bunk for a week. And I had a really tough time compensating for that.
True 💯
Yep, I was about to write this thing. They target parents emotionally and psychology with word attendance and its importance. Campus companies are mostly trash. This pandemic made the situation worse.

9:39 I have a different competing view. I am from a Tier-3 college now working in Zeta. My initial push for ML(and getting published) gave me the opportunity to crack GSoC; from there that GSoC tag helped me land in job interviews for companies which would have outright thrown away my resume by the digital filter. Hence ML played a crucial role in making me end up, where I am today (even during the pandemic)!!

I used to prepare my web development skills and Ds and algo in my engineering , but the hardest thing I faced was to get interviews from big companies. Since I had played much with python, django skills, there are very few companies which have this tech stack.
The most important thing With tier-1, tier-2 is opportunities. That's what most students from tier -3 colleges miss it .
Which would be the best stack that you would suggest?
Yes, In India django is still in shadows.

Python isn't recommended at all in india. C++ and Java is what I would recommend
While Rachit has given a really great advice, but the thing is that the situation in the third tier college is like really really bad.
It is bad at every level possible. No quality professors(they know next to nothing), no proper management, even college festivals are shit. Additional taunts from parents make things worse. It is really difficult for a student to cope up with these. At every level, you are reminded that your college is shit and not an IIT. Students stop caring about their career after certain point of time and do not study at all. They get lured into bad influence to forget all this and accept it as their fate. This results into even more jobless students.
If any guy reading is confused whether to take an additional drop year or to get admitted in a 3rd tier college, kindly do yourself a favour, take a drop year and work hard next time. Just my rant.
Great video btw.
every word you said is true and I've gone through every one of it (even getting lured into some bad shit) but I had my realization in my last year and was somehow able to pull me out of this, although I was able to land a job in a startup but now I'm aiming higher now.

100% True ..... ! Tier - 3 College Sucks , They Give You 0% Support And These College Loot Our Hard Earned Money
@@dsa5821 IITs are overrated. CSE in any top NITs or IIITs or even some private tier 1 colleges is much better than some bullshit branch in IIT. Majority janta go to college for a job and the research opportunity at IITs are limited too, only a few students get those opportunities.

It was quite hard to find a like minded friend. I mean 90% people are trying to get into a job. 9% preparing for other examination and only 1% of people are actually willing to become an entrepreneur.
It requires lots of guts when everyone is preparing for jobs and you are working on your idea. Lots of criticism comes from every direction and only few can face it and come out as a successful Entrepreneur
Yeah man, Agree with you! 😕
True.
bhai toh humlog bann jaate hai n ek dusre ke friend???
What's actually the truth is that even from the 1%( & 9) only a few people make it work out , just because someone is willing doesn't mean they will make it. Being realistic not cynical.
@@pranayavnish8028 Actually it depends on what you define as success in my opinion you can create businesses through which you can earn same amount of money as a good job(google sde 1) by the time you end your four years but then you have to concentrate on profits and revenue more than unsustainable growth and vc funding.
I would say business of the same earning as a good engineer in india is equivalent difficulty.
And another big problem with these failure statistics is that there is no barrier of entry(very little) for example a doctor has to complete his degree to start his earning so obviously it would seem that doctors have higher success rate than lets say a businessman but you fail to understand that doctors or good engineers are already selected out of many other people so there is a barrier of entry unlike business where there is practically none i.e. people who know nothing about business and its basics enter into this field as well.
So your odds are already drastically improved if you improve your knowledge and have reasonable goals(a good earning such that you can earn same amount as you would doing in tier 1 jobs)
Thank you so much Rachit! Great points, truly insightful.

Exactly what I was searching for. Thank you brother!
Great points that you have mentioned. What is your opinion on post-grad studies in fields like CS or mathematics? Would love to know your opinion...
Bhai well said man. I am surprised, to see such passion man!!
Badly needed it!
I have done that ML mistake..!
All though I was focusing on DS and Algo too but I was not giving importance to OS, CN and DBMS instead I focused on ML and deep learning. So I was suggest you to first master the core subjects then do specialization.
Else you will end up like me..
I went through the exact same thing. I have been now working on Analytics Skills, A Data Analyst's profile seems to be much more reasonable for a fresher, as compared to Machine Learning and related stuff.
Could you please elaborate? I am from Nepal and I m 19. I also want to learn ML. Recently I have learnt Python and thinking of getting some knowledge in ML and deep learning. On searching for resources, I found almost every expert recommending the same course Rachit has mentioned in video. Could you show me tha path to focus? My ultimate goal is to end up in a good US company (not necessarily Google, MS)
@@nirojsedhai8661 if your goal is to get a job in good company especially product based ,then just practice problem solving , practice coding , make sure you know atleast one Object oriented language(java is preferred) , DBMS , OS and CN , this mentioned things will helps you to get good job.
And talking about ML and deep learning , this subjects are very vast and required more attention and more time. If you focus on this properly and if you are good at mathematics and programming especially in python (note that python is easy if you consider it to solve Normal problem but when it come to python for ML and deep learning then it's complexity increases alot!!!!!!)then surely you can became master over it.
But this will not help you in interview hence will not help to get a job.
Sadly very less companies looks for this skills.
And again down side of learning ML and Deep learning is that since it will take most of ur time then you can't really focus on Computer science fundamentals.
For example ,Speaking from my experience while giving interviews for companies like vertias, deustche ,etc. I have done most of my projects in ML and deep learning , but the company rarely asked questions about it.
Hence I would suggest to focus on computer science fundamentals instead of ML and Deep learning.
@@amanbhanse5645 Totally agreed, I am currently in my final year of Engineering, I have given interviews for Nutanix, Nokia, Standard Chartered and a couple more recently, neither fo they ask you anything from your ML projects, nor do they expect you to be knowing anything about them, because it's quite impossible to get a job from Campus placements directly into the Field of Data Science.
Prepare your core subjects and DSA, you will be good to go.
Data Science is surely a wonderful world to enter in, but during an undergraduate course, well don't dig in too deep I would say!
The words we needed rn! Thanks a lot! Even your video editing and communication skills are improved. ^_^ I have been watching from your very first video!

Yes many are hyped about machine/deep learning but the problem the company faces is with deployment of the models with good metrics. So if a person is good at machine learning then he can pickup web dev, cloud computing services like gcp,aws so that he can deploy the models. This also shows that he/she has hands on experience of ml, web, software engineering skills which makes the resume impressive. Many of them just train the model and leave it without deployment as they finish andrew Ng course and jump away. I know some of them who don't even have knowledge of graph algorithms like bfs,DFS but straight away starts with ml and thinks they can conquer the world by their skills🤦🤦
I completed my first year in engineering(CSE) and my codeforfes rating is 1550 I like data structures and algorithms a lot, but I am from amrita university.
What can I do to grab a good job?
Hey 1550 is a decent rank. Why don't you mention it in your CV and start applying everywhere. I am sure you'll be noticed.
Focus on web/app/backend development and make some good projects. Put that on resume along with its github link. It will be very helpful. Also you will be taught topics like DBMS, OS and Networks. These 3 subjects apart from DS and Algo are very important.

Also most people don't refer people they don't know for jobs. What can someone like me do?

Hi Rachit, I have a video request. What would you do if you are from tier-3 college and got placed in some service-based MNC or an early-stage startup? What would you do to get into companies like Google, Microsoft, Uber..etc?
